The Painting: This one is still trying to dry. I painted it last week before I got sick. I love this approach to the canvas. I literally pull paint and turn the canvas once. Pull more paint and turn it again. It revolved around in several circles as I pull patterns of colors on it and from there the horses begin to appear. Painted with Holbein Duo Oils on two inch thick canvas, 20 x 20 inches in size.
The Thought: The dramatics of a female teenager in the house are cause to pause and generally bring hidden smiles and laughter. Things that would have sent us over the edge ten years ago finds us chuckling together at night. With the response of ANNOYING for everything wrong with her chemistry teacher we had her brainstorm alternatives including just throwing in the towel and getting her GED.
I was genuinely impressed by the structure and helpful aids that the chemistry teacher provided. She wants all notes in class taken only on the right side of the binder pages. The opposite left side is to be left open to help you at study time. Draw pictures here, make word games to memorize facts, complete smaller outlines to test yourself. The left side if FREE for you. The only rule is NOTES only on the right side. We still cannot figure out why that is so difficult to understand. There were things to glue in as examples of HOW to study for those that do not have a developed learning style.
Our suggestion was that she reconstruct the notebook for this six weeks. Hers is a MESS. It is also a grade she needs more than a zero on.
God gives us chance after chance after chance to get it right. He too provides a certain framework of structure in our 'notebook' and sets out expectations for us. We have that "left" side of the page to go crazy, follow our own plans and make decisions; permanent is what He writes as the WAY on the right side of the notebook.
Are you doodling too much on that left side of the book? Take time today to shift to the right....pick up the Bible and read the word...His Word. It is all there for us; everything we want to learn is there. Everything we need for a peaceful happy life is there. Open your heart and let it be filled.
