'Keeping an Eye Out'
18 x 24 x 2 Oil on Canvas
The Painting: The pull to strong colors continued through from the acrylics back to the oils. I use too much paint. The Holbein people tell me that too. Most paintings I do in oil may take 10 years to fully cure out. This one will be at least 3-4 weeks out before it is dry. I did not use any impasto...but I enjoyed every pull of the thick buttery paint that I made.

The Thought: Often we find ourselves lonely in the mass of humanity around us. Loneliness becomes desperation in the late night or early hours of the morning. At times it can drive us to our knees wrestling in conversation with God. Almost any loss can initiate the feelings of desertion or loneliness. It does not take a death to leave the hole; it can be the loss of a friendship, the dramatic illness of a spouse, the loss of family that does not care about you, the loss of a job, etc. I know I felt alone when I was sick and my fever was so high. My patience was thin and I cried easily.
1 Kings 19:4 "He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die."
You must read these words, "You cannot give up." When you do you begin to feel sorry for yourself, you become discouraged and when you do that you open yourself up to temptation and weakness.
We all experience loneliness in our lives. Each time it does not get easier. I think as you get older you tend to hide it better and fewer people realize your need.
Today put yourself out into the business of life, be it at home or out in the world.
