The moon is huge outside this morning. Terry just left for work and I walked him out to the truck. I have not seen the stars this bright since we lived out in the country, and the Moon, it is full and bright enough to look like the sun in the night sky. After the rough night of weather this is a glorious gift to receive this morning and I give thanks.
Yesterday I was painting and listening to music and it was a Christian Rock section on my IPOD. I heard the words of a song I have heard a thousand times and something clicked in my head. There are times you search for ways to explain things to grandchildren and children I guess and you can't always grasp how to explain it. The verse went on about Jesus wearing the Crown of Sin and when I heard the words something happened within me. Remember a time in your life when you did something you thought was so bad and you were really going to be a huge amount of trouble when either your parents found out or your boss? Somewhere in your mind as a human you begin to try and put blame somewhere else... well, I did it because this happened because someone else did this, or hey they won't know if I just blame someone else. Remember the old "He did it."???
Well, what clicked for me is Jesus did it. Jesus took on all of our "he did it". ALL OF IT. He took all the blame for our sins; we didn't even have to point a finger at him and shout, "he did it". Although many did that day he died on the cross. The Crown of Sin that he wore is filled with our sin, our trouble that we brought on ourselves. Can you imagine anyone you know today taking the blame for everything? Or having a big brother that always took the blame when you did something because he knew you were so small you could not bear the punishment? Can you fathom the consequences from our actions falling on someone else? Well there was one man that did that for us, and it was Jesus.
I began crying as I painted listening and realizing again the depth of love our Father has for us, and that Jesus "our brother" had for us as he wore that crown of sin... our sin.
His Grace surrounds you.....
