This is a first in a series for this wonderful new store/gallery in Marble Falls Texas.

John and Marnie are almost ready to open their new shop! This one will be shipping to them in the next few days. It is a HUGE painting filled with color, THICK buttery paint, ridges and texture. Follow along as we make our way through the PATINA Series! Yes, the store is Patina!

I am not accustomed to being up so early.... well, I have been my entire life, but since the flu and then the loss of heat etc.... Seven thirty was early....here I have been in the studio working since five thirty, about 45 min ago.

Terry is back at work today. Hopefully he will continue working on the light issue in the evenings. It is not too bad living like this...I have to play my piano in daylight though. I usually play at night about eight, so I will have to adjust my schedule. In fact, they are coming today to tune my piano. YEAH!!

PAINTING is the passion today and I will be doing that! I have about four things already sketched out on my canvas. I sketch in diluted oil directly on the canvas.... so I have proportion and balance established in a rough from . It is from there the work evolves. DEEPER into the work as it develops.

Father God wants us to do that too....go deeper and evolve. His word is to be a lamp in our darkness...so we can find a path in life. It is through study and sharing with others that we gain insight and comprehension to the deepest meanings in the word. With caution on interpretation, it becomes our task to read and pray as we take in His word. Hidden treasures lie within, ours to discover. Pray to keep your heart open and teachable. Keep your mind and body open to change as you read and study. Be diligent and feed your soul daily. I am not sure about memorization at my age...I have a hard time remembering so much, but the verses I memorized as a child seem locked in...but try memorizing a short verse and using it daily for several weeks until it becomes yours.

Grace,

Laurie

"He who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does." James 1:25

Mixed Media Collage Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Collage Fall 2013  12 x 18 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  This was an intentional paint to imitate one of the 100 ponies I did in 2012. That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...

Sleeping Cowboy . Ernest Hemingway . Sunday, a day of rest . Western Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway  I really enjoyed painting this scene. It was restful to me as the artist  and loved by our friends.  Sunday is the day of rest. I smiled when I found this in archives and thought it perfect for this day.  If you live in Texas you know that we still have 'rules' about not selling liquor before noon.  If you live in Texas and are in your late thirties and up, you might even remember Blue Laws.   Stores were simply NOT open...
