The storms have passed through the area and I do believe we received about 8 inches of rain or more. The streets and bar ditches were all under the same lake as it crept near our homes. The unusual part was this storm did not press through swiftly as they normally do...it was moving slowly and the storm moved at an angle keeping us wet and stormy for almost 8 straight hours. Very unusual. SO, I did not paint yesterday. Something about wet paint and wet air...hummm...But this painting is in a new color series for me with the deep blue and violet backgrounds. I thought I had posted this one and my Texas Mission, but I couldn't trace them back this month in my blog, so I hope I am not repetitious! Very unusual colors pulled through on this one....enjoy it!
My cousin is still visiting from Boise. He has his treat of Texas with the weather. He spent several hours at the sink cleaning and re wiring several antique lamps we have here. They sparkle now and are quite beautiful in their cleaned up stage. I have to admit, cleaning my lamps has not been a priority past a quick dusting! I am hoping my parents will travel out today with my older brother Bill to visit one more time before Bruce leaves to fly home. I will make fish stew, with fresh orange roughy, maybe some sea bass and fresh shrimp on the side. Mom cannot have it in the stew. A good salad to go with it with fresh organic vegetables and dessert is debating in my head...I SHOULD serve just fresh organic fruit, but I want to make a fuller dessert and am between coconut cream pie, st louis ougy goougy butter cake or Droste homemade chocolate brownies....any votes out there?
As the rain clears today, I can already hear the birds in their chorus outside my window! God protected them through the storm, the winds, hail and heavy rains...they sing his praises as the dawn breaks this morning. Perhaps we should all give thanks during the storms and after them for what we have at that moment, knowing that those storms make us stronger and wiser as we journey.
Grace,
Laurie
