A Painting a Day




Have you ever been in competition of sorts and not won? Then you rerun the whole thing over and over in your head thinking WHAT IF?? IF ONLY???? Well that is the mainstay of this composition. We have all been there...and it is captured in this young cowboy and his faithful dog!
Painted with brush and oils, it is a reflective painting.

Stacey's birthday party was great yesterday...saw many of her friends I have known most of their lives and that was neat. My parents and my youngest brother and his wife, drove out to visit us first and then we went on to Stacey's for her party. Her Husband had most of the food catered in...and the cake specially made from a fabulous bakery in Dallas. She is thirty on Monday. She was my early morning child, arriving at 5 a.m.... after a night of dancing and a big steak and shrimp dinner.

Off to work on a 3 by5 ft commission piece.... I started it yesterday and have it sketched out on the canvas.

The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...
