A Painting a Day

DYNAMITE BRIGHT colors in this Valentine's painting of two horses, obviously in love!
My Palette was greens, reds, golds and blues, with accents of purple. This would be an eye catcher in any room!

Today is Tuesday and suppose to be VERY COLD with COLD and WET tomorrow...maybe Ice..but I do not think snow. We are heading into town later to visit FED EX...stop by the USPS and on to the wilds of Dallas and traffic. There we will visit Whole Foods and TJ Fish Market for our weekly rations. I have been reading the book THINK THIN BE THIN...and ya know what...it is helping. I am not huge but would like to drop one size back down to fit in my clothes. Christmas did me in.

Heard today my HARP is on her way. I will not name her until she arrives and I hear her voice...but I am darn excited now. I wrote Denny and ask him if there was a tracking number so I could keep up with her on the trip. ALSO how long...by boat or plane?? There is a huge difference there in arrival time. Need to start looking for a new piano too..mine is cratering. Hard to teach on it...been nursing it along for the past year.
Meanwhile GUITAR is off limits until I get this shoulder injury addressed. I miss playing.
At least I can paint. Not suppose to be typing but I am this morning and the pull is pretty sharp up my arm from my fingers flying over this keyboard.

I got to talk to Sue last night....both on the phone and stereo on SKYPE! She said they had snow recently... I think perhaps I will take two months of heat and stay in Texas. We have pretty good weather except JULY and AUGUST.

Have a great day today. Tomorrow Liberty comes to begin her day with me! YEAH>>>>

Grace,
Laurie

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.”—Ephesians 4:32

I have this mantra about "Open the doors that I need to walk through today, Close the doors that need to be closed. Give me wisdom to turn away from those I need to walk away from and the knowledge to embrace those that I need to meet and walk with." I always felt strange with the wisdom of walking away, but in the daily word message today it says:

"It may be in my best interest to release an unsafe relationship and move on, or it may serve me to rebuild a relationship with mutual caring and support. Forgiveness allows me to let go of my focus on negative thoughts or behaviors. I move forward with positive energy that flows through me and into my relationships. "

Mixed Media Collage Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Collage Fall 2013  12 x 18 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  This was an intentional paint to imitate one of the 100 ponies I did in 2012. That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   Thinking ahead to the Thanksgiving celebration next week, I remembered back to those previous dinners that I cooked, served, ate quickly, and cleaned up.  This is how I felt.  It is probably strange...even for me but I had the best fun sketching it out and painting it. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top. It was not like they were not sweet enough as they were, but at her small kitch...

Sleeping Cowboy . Ernest Hemingway . Sunday, a day of rest . Western Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway  I really enjoyed painting this scene. It was restful to me as the artist  and loved by our friends.  Sunday is the day of rest. I smiled when I found this in archives and thought it perfect for this day.  If you live in Texas you know that we still have 'rules' about not selling liquor before noon.  If you live in Texas and are in your late thirties and up, you might even remember Blue Laws.   Stores were simply NOT open...
