Mid Day Work

30 x 30 inches

A Painting A Day

This is my third in the series I am doing of Reining Horses and Riders. Inspired by great photos in Quarter Horse News and editor Katie Tims, this composition continues the dance of the cowboy and horse. Thick brush strokes create a lively movement.

It is early, 4:30 a.m. here in Justin Texas. I am up early to work on some birds that are commission pieces. I long to crawl back into bed, but the American Kestrel called to me and I am a pushover when it comes to birds and dogs! I have both.

Yesterday I was able to mess with my new camera attached to my computer. Sue and I visited cross country as I set it up with Skype and she could watch me painting at my canvas!!! My intention is to use it to both record or to allow someone that has me working on a commission piece to "tune" into the studio and see how their painting is evolving on the easel. Pretty cool!!!! Modern technology at its best. I guess I have to make sure I shower and clean up before hitting it! Usually I paint first and then shower...oh well. I keep a guitar in the studio as well, so you never know if I will be playing away for a break from the brush.

Hope to take my mom shopping later today. I hate it when coupons come in the mail and you feel it is a waste if you don't use them. Something is wrong with that thinking, but the positive part is spending time with her. Dad will be busy with the Cowboy game I am sure! Terry gets to keep the home fires burning and take care of our dogs. After getting up so early, he usually takes an afternoon nap.

Okay Larilyn, I joined sweepsheet and spent two hours last night doing envelopes and 3 X 5 cards and pieces of paper. I began preparing Terry for his preparation....no reason why he can't participate. The best part for me was hand decorating the envelopes....put markers or colored pencils in the hand of the artist and some of those envelopes are worth something on the open market!

TV before sleep has been tuned in on the BEATLES ANTHOLOGY which I ordered several weeks ago from Amazon. WOW...we are on our sixth or seven hour into it...it is fabulous. Terry and I find ourselves singing Beatle Songs minute by minute now...like they are swimming in our head. Made me flash back to the loss of John Lennon, such a great musician and writer. As a teacher of guitar and piano I am aware of the tremendous influence they had on our music today and can't help but wonder what would have evolved for John had he not been taken from this life. The interviews with George, Paul and Ringo are fabulous too. I can't remember when or how we lost George, but I know he was ill from where we are in the anthology with his interviews...he looks so thin and sickly in some of them.

All of this made me reflect with how four people were in the right place at the right time and how much they affected history and our lives. I had been reading THE BLUE DOG book about Louisiana artist George...duh can't remember his last name, but I think most of you know who the Blue Dog is, but the death of his little dog Tiffany had a profound effect on his artwork and the results pushed him into the eyes of the world and propelled him forward into fame for an artist and his dog. If you haven't read it, pick up a copy...I read most of it to my art students on Thursday. I have to thank Trina for the copy I have...she and her family presented me with it for my birthday. The other one I am preparing to delve into is "the 72 names for God" I may have the title off...but it seems good. Will let you know.

Hugs to Sue, my partner in invention for those of us over fifty trying to muddle through....and to my cousin in Germany...LUCY.... she is the one that got me tuned into the idea of adding a camera to my computer. I could see her when we skyped, but she could not see me!! LUCY, my camera works.... lets talk soon.

Grace to each of you.

As I experience the sacred order of life, I am filled with wonder and joy.

A Bit of Wonder Contemporary Horse Oil Daily Painting Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thick buttery oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it". Psalm 118:24 It was a day of celebration yesterday as Lauren Gracen was born. Stacey began her labor around nine in the morning and was ready to push by 12:15, but they held her off while getting things set up. Took four good contractions with multiple pushes and the baby was there! All grandparents accounted for to count the toes and fingers! My admiration is for my daughter and her bravery and calmness despite the tension and newness of what she faced. I was honored to be there as the baby was delivered seeing my granddaughter push out into the light and take her first breathe... and then cry... and that she did. Terry was able to participate and he and Larry helped with pushing and getting Stacey upright for the process and then Terry was hon...

Arrival...Refrigerator?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Arrival Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whtever you do, and he will establish your plans."   Worrisome times laced with prayers.   The world seems like a scary place lately. Praying for everyone affected by the last two hurricanes.  My adventures today were the result of a dead refrigerator. I have loved my Kitchen Aid refrigerator very much. The first one in the 'French Kitchen' look died at 13 months. Hubby wanted the same refrigerator. Well this one made it four years and a few months. I cannot believe appliances are not made to last longer...but wait, is that because they make more money if we have to replace it in 4-5 years?  You replace your mattress at least every 7 years... and your washer dryer, you might get 7 years out of those... The stoves seem to make it closer to 10 years. We are Lowe's customers, and Robert ...

The Marsh... of our lives? Walking with God.

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 The Marsh 6 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   I did two of these paintings about three years ago. They both sold immediately to a Florida Collector. Simple and elegant for a horse painting.  Ephesians 5:1-2 "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma."  One of the biggest challenges in walking with God is trusting Him and not trying to out think Him or to do everything your way. It never works.  The Apostle Paul wrote of his own struggles in Romans 7 .  Romans 7: 22-23 “ So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the ...
