The Magnolias at Mema's

My mom has a huge, absolutely HUGE Magnolia tree in her front yard. I love to go and sit in the shade and sketch the flowers and the blooms off of it. My sketch book must now have a dozen sketches to work from over the next few months!

This is painted on a 24 X 24 inch canvas and is a bit fauvistic in flavor, not your run of the mill flower painting, but a composition that breathes with life and color. In my work I lean toward a touch of color everywhere because that is my love, working with reflections of light and unusual color combinations!

Hope everyone's day is well. Terry and I worked on floors until after ten last night. Not sure who is more tired, but I know his back hurts more than mine! We walked the dogs for two miles this morning hoping to work out the kinks, but the high today is 106 degrees and it is already warm outside!
