 Verb 1. speak and act so as to make it appear that something is the case when in fact it is not.

 We seem to learn this early in life.  As a teacher, I remember instructing children to go into pretend mode to do creative writing.  Somewhere this seems to go wrong in our lives and pretense and pretend creep into our lives as adults. 

 We can pretend to be anything we want to be, but we can't be anyone we want to be. You can only be yourself. At least that is the wise choice; if you try to be someone you are not, you will ultimately fail. 

 Celebrate the traits you have and the gifts God has blessed you with. 

 Why I chose this painting was it was a 'pretender'.  I was forcing a composition and color with it. Now I look at it four years later and there are thing I love and things I still know are not right. Next blog you get to see the evolution. 

 Proverbs 12:9  "Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant than pretend to be somebody and have no food."

That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. We lost another dear family member this week. She has celebrated her 'continuation' day and is now with her mom and dad and her other cousins.  She leaves behind a family that will always celebrate her gentleness.  My aunt was special to all of us. She loved each of us dearly for who we were and was always ready with a hug or a 'good job'.    My memories are of breakfast pastries smeared with butter on top.
