White Ahead Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 Oil on Canvas contact: Laurie Lord, give me the strength and the wisdom to walk through this day; to go where you will lead me; to embrace it and give it my all. The birthday party for Jon was yesterday, but my camera was here. I am waiting for pictures from Jan and Justin to use on the blog. In the past NO ONE has ever remembered to send me pictures so I am not confident on this at all. Mom and Dad traveled out to Roanoke with Terry and I. It was a fast afternoon; the food was great (Justin grilled) and the company of family quite enjoyable! Stacey and Larry have one of those great big media rooms. We really need to start having family Sunday at the movies. I tried to get her to do that when we lived out there...but things get in the way. We really have to watch that in our lives. I fully believe we are missing some of the journey the Lord has for us because things get in the way. We have such will and power that we ba
Midnight Blues Horse Acrylic Painting by Laurie Justus Pace Acrylic Overlays 24 x 30 x 2 inches For information, please email me and include the title of the painting: Laurie Not sure about much this morning. We travel on employee passes and the flights continue to book beyond us getting on. We were suppose to fly to Rochester tonight, but that flight filled with other non-revs. We are traveling with my mom so we have the disadvantage of her on a family pass that falls behind all employee passes. Makes us last on the plane. SOOO, it will either be Buffalo today or Toronto today or tomorrow. While I am gone, I have learned that there is not internet service where we are going. I am going to provide my daughter with a photo to use and a small SMALL thought. I am hoping she expands on it a bit. She is a pretty good writer. I just didn't think I had it in me to do 7-10 blogs in one sitting... so I may just give her a painting and a bible verse and she can throw in updates on th
NIGHT WIND 2008 Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 x 2 inches Hangs without a Frame Inquiries: Laurie Well, I had an email about my Sovn bed. I still have to stand by my testimony that I have not slept this well EVER that I can remember. The bed puts us both in a very deep sleep and we both wake up refreshed, rested and no aches or pains. I have to adjust that this morning as I grabbed the wrong pillow last night and my neck is not the best it could be this morning. But No More BackAches... no more snoring from Terry...yeah... and he has no more pain in his shoulders and back at all. As far as the look of the flat tire bed in our huge four poster bed, the Sovn representative came out and is getting us a deeper base for the bed to set inside our four poster bed. This will not affect anything but the look. The cost of these beds is a bit heavy on the pocket book but when we weigh the rest and better health and happier body and moods, you cannot place a price
Crossing Over Horse Art Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Inquiries: Laurie My eyes do not want to be open, but tomorrow Terry starts back to work again after six days off. He is asleep, Mom is asleep and I woke and decided to jump in here to paint before everyone wakes up. Seems like once the household is awake and there is movement, my creativity seems to disappear. Hopefully they will both sleep until at least eight or nine and hopefully the phone will not ring too early! Terry spent yesterday cleaning or unpacking or repacking a room that was stacked with models. Now they are all in my loft in our master bedroom. Here in Texas Boxes plus Boxes equals Roaches. I do not mix well with roaches. I have delayed mentioning this to him but will need to. If he built a model every week, he could live to be 140 years old. I have yet to figure out what we will do with all those models once he builds them. I will have to sneak up next week and snap a shot... then you wi
OTHER SIDE OF THE EARTH Abstract Landscape by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Ice cream Party last night, here on the block...wow what fun!!! I have tons of pictures and will try and make a slide show this week, but no time this morning. ALSO Birthday Party celebrations yesterday...REMEMBER?? I am sugared out. FUN<> FAMILY.... and the blessings of the Lord! I will do a slide show of that one! Watch below. I put it together fast and noted several typos, but it takes too long to change them, so just enjoy the slide show! Today is boxing and shipping day, almost back to a normal work week, but not there as I have not been painting. THAT is not good. I will be painting by tomorrow. The piece I posted is several years old and is owned by a collector in Virginia. She has at least 20 of my paintings. Divine order is the thought for today. Decisions in our lives seem to way lay us for days or weeks at at time. Sometimes it is fear of the unknown that keep us in that frozen position. It
Wyoming Paint 1 22 x 28 inches Horse Acrylic Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Symbolism abounds in this series with linking circles woven through out the composition. Hidden notations to me as I create reminding me from whence the spirit comes....From the Lord! This afternoon we will celebrate birthdays. My mother (who was in the hospital on her birthday); my hubby, Terry, who drove me to Wyoming over his birthday; Larry, my son in law; and Jan my eldest son's love of his life. Missing from our celebration I will be offering up birthday love and prayers for family friend Lanie, and for my dearest painting "sister" Conni Togel. If you have never seen her art, visit www.charisma-art.com . She is FABULOUS!!! Terry and I went to pick up brisket and chicken at Rick's barbecue www.rickssmokehousebbq.com in Garland. He has eaten there four times this week. He needs a frequent diner's card for sure. Add to the mixture, cole slaw, baked beans, Sister in law Leslie
RED DESERT HORSE Horse Abstract Art Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 x 2 inches Acrylic and Impasto on Canvas Contact me for information, include the name of the painting: Laurie Good morning... geez it is almost eight and I am just blogging. Mom is here at our house newly released from the hospital. It changes our schedule up a bit and we stay up later. Won't do that once Terry is back off vacation. So I slept in this morning, something my body is NOT accustomed to. We have had many things we are praying about in our lives. That sort of sent me off on the thought of the difference between the mind, the soul and the spirit. It started with the daily message I got from Donald Welsch commenting that "Life is about your soul, not about your body and not about your mind." He further commented that people work hard to keep their body happy and they enjoy stimulating their mind...the soul is the last thing they leave time for. Well, that started these wheels turning
Inspired One Time by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 inches Oil on Linen Panel Contact me for pricing. Laurie HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SISTER IN LAW LESLIE AND TO MY NEIGHBOR JO! They shared the same birthday last week... a special day to celebrate life and the gifts they bring into our lives. Henri Lebasque painted this first in the 1800's. I repositioned my woman in the chair a bit and pulled her one leg up and placed the chair on the surface a bit differently. I fell totally in love with the colors and had to paint it. I think I am going to frame it for my own because of the colors. Yesterday was a maddening day as Julie from Guidry Designs came by to pick up the first of the work completed this week. It went to the framers at the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas for framing. Julie will be placing the work into homes in the Highland Park area that she stages for Realtors. Today I will finish up two matching 5 x 6 ft pieces...HORSES! Then I will take a break for our anniversary....and next
OVER THE RAINBOW Contemporary Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace 30 X 30 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD on Daily Painters. Thanks for your support of the self representing artist! Contact me to purchase, mention the name of the painting. Laurie Hummm, yesterday was another two Klondike days. But I am surviving! Today is finish up and move forward day. Today I will finish a commission painting for a new collector in Canada and a small mothers day gift for another collector for her mother. Slated later this week is a the finish of a portrait for a family friend. In between...paint paint paint, clean house, do wash and finish planting annuals! I spent some time on the phone late yesterday with Wendy Rogers at the new gallery in Atascadero, California. The Red Tree Gallery is open and been received warmly by the town and the surrounding areas. Wendy has exciting plans of many cultural events and shows for the next few months. I am hoping Terry and I can hop a flight out to visit and see it
RED HORSE ABSTRACT Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches SOLD Time for a new pillow. Woke up again with a pull in three places in my neck. BUT I will stay the course with my day and the plans for the day. It is Wednesday and today I begin sketching out my work for the week. I have one already on Canvas sketched out, the rest I will transfer from my sketch book to canvas. THEN I get to play in my paints. This is a time of not only painting, but deep mediation as I work with my oils. It never ceases to amaze me the blends and "happenings" that appear before my eyes. Did God watch in amazement as He created all around us in the beginning? He is the great Artist! And then when I zoom ahead in the bible to the arc when he had to wipe out so much through the flood, I wonder if He did it as I do a canvas. When it is not working I begin pushing the paint in totally irrational unplanned ways...if nothing begins to work, I scrap the painting, pulling the oils
FLOWERS IN NANIE'S CONCRETE POT Flower Art On Canvas by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches SOLD Terry sleeps soundly as I quietly left the room this morning. Thought I would start my day early and keep the house quiet so he can catch a few more z's. The concrete pot in the painting is still with us today! It was his grandmothers and we fill it with blooms every year. Yesterday I went to church with my parents and then home to prepare lunch for them and Jon and Justin. Jonathan has grown so much. When I hug him he is tucked up tight under my chin and I am five ft nine. He is only ten years old. He is going to be tall! Justin helped me put together my new sofa table..it is glass, metal and wood. Terry got home just in time to share an hour with Jon before they had to leave. Then I was back on my schedule. Today Terry will box, I will finish up a magnolia painting that is a commission piece and I have been sketching out a new series and hope to get the sketch on canvas. I
Quiet Night With You 2 Pop Art by Laurie Justus Pace I had this marked sold as it was Sold three years ago to my eldest son. He has decided he wants to sell it or "trade it in!" Let me know if you are interested! 24 x 36 inches Acrylic on Canvas Contact me for pricing: Laurie This is a second in the series I did on Pop Art. Decided to continue posting a few of these pieces. It is another facet of my artwork! Sunday is here and I am planning out my day. I was up awake with a headache at 3:30 this morning and spent the next hour and a half with squirrels running circles in my head! When you lay awake with your head pounding it is hard to go back to sleep and so darn inviting to solve the problems of the world. Was there a news flash about that yet? I spent time on every bothersome thing that popped in my mind and somehow with all that energy I HAD to solve something....but I do not think I did. Worry was there on the parental front, the sibling front, the children front,
BEST FRIENDS Whippet Sight Hound Dog Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Contact me for purchase information and mention the name of the painting. Laurie Friday has arrived. Morgan is at the airport ready to fly to Miami for his business cruise, Terry is on his way to the airport to work and I am jumping into my easel early. Grocery shopping this morning later and more family stuff after lunch with mom. I almost caught up yesterday, so Lord willing, I have a chance this morning with about three hours ahead of me to work. With a prayer and quiet time this morning my painting will begin. Built into all of us that have faith is a compass that keeps us in the direction of the Holy Spirit. We have to trust we are on the correct path stopping often to consult that compass through prayer and meditation with the Lord. Listening for inner guidance I always compare to listening to the Holy Spirit whispering to my heart and soul. Going forward in confidence knowing where ever th
WHITE FLOWERS BLUE VASE Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 14 x 18 inches SOLD RAIN is falling and the lightening is bright this morning. Poor Annie Dog, we gave her meds last night for the storm as it was predicted to hit around three this morning. As we got up at five, it was still not here and she is not drugged very well as it is hitting. Weather forecast was a bit off. Meanwhile despite the rain, all is functioning here but my brain. I need to make more lists! I have quite a few commissions I will be working on today and tomorrow getting them started. I finished up the 24 x 48 of Azawakhs running on the beach. You will see it probably tomorrow in my blog. It is a very powerful painting. I heard from Morgan and Hillary in Washington DC. They were with my friend Niki of Sunrise Tourette and they were doing karaoke. Wish I could have been there to hear my son sing. Today they will begin teaching the art classes we put together last weekend so my prayers are with them as the pr
PIGGING OUT Farm Animals Pig Art by Laurie Justus Pace 15 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie My deep reflection certainly DOES not match the painting I have posted. This was painted last week on Thursday as my world began to shift and change. When my father arrived he was quite taken by my piggies and every time he sits here in the studio with me watching TV, his eyes drift over to the pigs on the wall and he begins to chuckle telling me what a fine painting of pigs I have done. Yesterday morning I fed him breakfast at Terry's second desk overlooking the TV close up and personal. He was involved watching the local news as they spun cameras around at over 800 wrecks in the icy snow. (yes this is Dallas and it is March) He would shake his head and tell me that he gave up driving a few years back and Mom does all the driving now. I heard that sentence about eight times and then he expounded his thoughts. "Some things change and you need to chan
THREE OUT WEST Second in a Series of Three Abstract Grazing Horses Oil on Canvas by Laurie Justus Pace Contact Wendy Rogers at The Red Tree Gallery Atascadero, California to purchase. 30 x 30 inches Gallery Wrap Canvas This painting was finished yesterday for the gallery in California. It will ship in about two weeks as it dries. Today I will work on some smaller pieces in My Buddy and Me series. Every painting is a wonderment and an exercise in color. Where else can you have a job that you get to play in color?? That I do love and give thanks for the gift. Hummm, it must be Thursday. No heat; haven't had heat since yesterday morning when I was minding my own business and the plumber knocked on the door. They were coming to purge the lines for the city inspection. It was after lunch when the inspector came. The gas repair passed (Yeah we can fill the 8 ft by 2 ft hole in the yard) and the new heater passed as well. The plumber returned late last night to try and unstop our plu
Brilliance in Red ~ Silky Red Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 16 x 16 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for pricing at Email: Laurie This is a familiar composition to others I have painted. It is a relaxing composition of assertiveness. I hope you caught that one! They are gorgeous in person and make you feel like you are in a garden. A warm garden would be nice right now. The house is at 45, my studio is at 62. There is no hope for heat until probably Wednesday or Thursday. The men got the hole about done. It has to be 24 inches deep for city inspection. We have to do the plumbing part and then get a plumber to OK the work ...of course that is after the permit procedure from the city. WHY did I move to the city? Someone remind me again. I just pray at this point to have heat before next Saturday when I am hosting an open house for perspective students and their parents. Meanwhile I went to bed dirty, cold and hungry. I felt homeless, but knew there was a structur
A HUG BETWEEN FRIENDS ~ Child and Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 x 2 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for pricing. Email: Laurie Still freezing outside and inside. I have issues that I am dealing with on a both a physical and spiritual level. Trying to understand how we will have heat before the ice storm hits on Monday...and all the pipes freeze below the house because we have no heat in the house to keep them flowing. Morgan arrived yesterday about four and chopped down huge bush/trees by the gas meter. Then TP arrived with a jack hammer. Morgan is suppose to return today to jack hammer. TP will cut rebarb when he makes it home at four. OF course my brain goes entirely a different direction. We are turning Morgan loose with a jack hammer and NO experience... while Terry toddles off to work. ( BELIEVE ME as I watched Morgan trying to do this yesterday and had to remove myself from the window out of laughter and fear rolled together.) Morgan has no jack h
PINK PEONY ~ Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Oil on Linen Panel Contact me to Purchase. Laurie Saturday early finds me finishing up this peony to post on Daily Painters. I really enjoyed painting this one and will probably do quite a few this size right now. This is a smaller format for me and really an adjustment to painting small. I am accustomed to turning on my Chris Tomlin Christian Music and rocking with my palette knife on huge canvas....This was painted to Antje Duvekot. She is one of my links to the right and absolutely one of my favorite female singers to paint to. Her song about Alzheimer makes me weep while I paint. My dad has alzheimers. Yesterday we walked UP the huge hill we live at the bottom of! We meet so many new neighbors. Gayle lives at the top of the hill with her husband and children. There must have been 8 children playing in the yard. Truly wonderful! We walked about a mile and a half circling the local elementary school. On the way we
OF THE FIRE ~ Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 18 x 2 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for Pricing. Laurie Humm, it is the way I sleep! I woke up in pain again, but had my right arm swung up under my pillow. I sleep to soundly here compared to our home in Justin, I just don't move around much! Coming home. I had a piece of art I sold several years ago come home to me via a friend that bought it and sent it to me. IT IS one of my favorites. I will be repainting and touching it up and varnishing it and then sending it on to be sold at the Gallery. IF I can part with it! IF. It is an Indian warrior holding his child in his arms. Hopefully I will work on it this weekend and post it. Coming home. Those words mean so much to all of us. Home plants pleasant memories for many of us...life was simple growing up with our parents. Their home is always a safe place to come to when life is beating you up. It is psychological at best, but it always wor
