MOLLY AND BEN Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Contact me for pricing: Laurie SOLD ~ Thank you!! It's a sinus headache morning for sure. WORK TIME! Terry will be working two shifts today, commonly known as a double. He traded out to get last Saturday off for the Family Reunion. I have Morgan here on the couch still pretty banged up. Do not know for how long. Had hoped by tomorrow we would launch him back home after the doctor re bandages all the wounds. Sasha, his puppy is really cute, but a total pain as she is not house broken. I have been keeping her in the garden room because if my dogs see her they want to eat her. She already ripped up the screen door to the garden room. We have a life time warranty on this, so I will call them. I finished up a large music piece of a pianist and a violinist, well, finished part of it. Today are more varnish layers. I will be working on a few others along the way. Will be doing sketches for someone that asked me if
FALL COLLECTION Abstract Floral Paint Pull Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 12 x 24 inches Contact me to purchase, special pricing: Laurie SOLD THANK YOU!!! Sunday Morning and the house is quiet as I get Terry off to work. Later Mom and I will drive up to see Dad today. THEN upon arriving home, I am three days behind after being caught up after the summer, so I will be working late tonight and through the next few days. It is bad when I am out of paintings to post on my blog. We enjoyed our time with Mark Bryant. He boarded a plane late yesterday afternoon to head back to Nevada. I am laughing at the Tomato, TOMMAATO thing the long "a" sound or the "ah" sound. I do not pronounce Nev"ah"da correctly....it is Nev "a" da. I may have to work on that after 55 years of saying it incorrectly. The family reunion was all too fast. It was in a church we had never been to and we were surprised at the small turnout. I think some folks got lost. U
PSALMS 1 Mixed Medium Angel Art Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Contact to purchase and mention the title: Laurie This is a close up of the facial area and the background. This was the experimental first piece on Psalms, but it is not where I want to be, but once you lay the layers on, they truly do not come off, so this piece will have to find a good home to enjoy it and love it. For me it has too much control. My control. I only have one more painting to deliver to the Dutch Art Gallery. She asked me to do a Poppy and I did, but it is still wet. Easy to pop in a frame though as it is 11 x 14. Stacey stopped by yesterday after her latest Doctors appt and we dropped by the gallery for her to see the work hanging. Makes a difference for sure to see it on their walls rather my walls. Most of this work will travel to The Red Tree in Atascadero California and to my show in Marble Falls at Patina. Are any of you writers out there? Are you TV/Movie watchers? Having a go
Windows of My Mind Abstract Art by Laurie Justus Pace 2005 Commissioned 30 x 30 inches SOLD Contact me for commission work: Laurie Saturday. I am still wondering how it got here! I have much to do today here in the studio in preparation for the show at the Dutch Art Gallery. The show starts on Friday the 12th, which I assume is next weekend, but meet the artist is not until Thursday Night on the 18th. Different but good! I really hope if you are in the DFW area you will come see the show. The Dutch Art Gallery 10233 E Northwest Hwy #420 Dallas, Texas 75238 214-348-7350 Training collar. We bought one for Paddy, Terry's dog. He is a terrier terror to take on a walk. He is into everybody's business and barks at anything that is not human. He truly doesn't bother with people, it is birds, cats, other dogs etc... and he is going to have them for dinner. Walking with Terry has been wonderful this week as we have left the dogs at home. I panic when Paddy is with us because
My Sister Commissioned Painting Girl, Dog and Horse by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD This was painted about four or five years ago, but I was going through old pictures and found it! Yes, I have not been painting as much to finish things. I had to dig in old files to post this morning and chose this sweet commission piece I did for a collector in the south. I love working with memories! Yesterday we tenderly drove my dad to a VA facility in our area of Texas that has an Alzheimers Wing. My older brother, my loving husband and I gently moved him from the respite care he was in to this facility where we all feel he will get better care. The folks there are small town folk with huge hearts. They all chipped in to help us get him settled as Mom filled out mountains of paper work. It is sad knowing he is an hour away instead of two miles away, but we firmly believe the care is the best we could find. It was a sad day for all of us and yet we must stand firm in God's grace knowing the de
Sisters Children Oil Painting Picking Flowers by Laurie Justus Pace 36 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase and mention the title: Laurie I want to hurry through my blog this morning so I can go walk. The temperatures are in the sixties and I want to be out there! We still have a strong wind but it feels good. Terry has one more week of vacation. He has several projects he has attacked and I am hoping they get finished. Today we are helping move my dad to a new facility and praying every step of the way that the care will be good here. I will write more tomorrow... the day is escaping and The sun is up and I want to walk before we have to go pack Dad up. Yesterday we ate a late lunch wtih Justin at Abocca's in Richardson. I had to get art supplies at Asel Art. Catcing up we covered every subject of our loved ones. When Terry and I left I started humming my latest song by the Beatles "there are places I remember.... all my life..." and my brain sings the s
NUZZLE Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me for Commission Work: Laurie Steps for yesterday were 9,575. We only walked once yesterday morning and we went a little over two miles and that was up and down steep hills here in Lake Highlands. The hills are pretty darn steep. I was worn out when we were done, but felt good all day. The leg cramps are gone at night with increased potassium, magnesium and exercise. BUT the little twinges of spasm remain. Reminds me of an eye twitch in a way but the movement cannot be seen, just a flick of a butterfly wing feeling. THANK YOU to all with suggestions. I have ordered the Gel Mat and can't wait to get it. I have a mat, but it is not very soft... I spoke with the gallery here in Dallas. The show opens on the 12th but meet the artist is on the next Thursday night. I am wild trying to finish everything and worked until ten last night. She wants it all early, not like the other places that
YELLOW ROSE Rose Flower Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for commission work: Laurie Yesterday I walked 12, 567 steps. YEAH. This blog will be short as Terry is waiting for me to finish so we can go do two miles this morning. We had a full day yesterday walking a mile and then errand running to pick up Norton 360 for his computer, Mac doesn't use that stuff, propane for the grill, and meat for the grill. We came home and made hamburgers, Barbecue chicken, grilled corn on the cob and grilled zucchini. After that we dozed and then walked two miles, Showered and had a late date to Half Price books where we spent two or three hours and came home with lots of good stuff. 20% off sale helped too! Today is shipping so we will be out and about this morning. I keep waiting for rain from the hurricane, but we have not seen a drop. When I was cleaning around my desk I found one of my favorite verses on a slip of paper and I have mounted in on the side o
Power of Red Horse Art Abstract Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Available at Patina of Marble Falls Contact: John or Marnie Waking up with a massive sinus headache is not my favorite. Unfortunately for many of us living in the DFW area this is common for this time of the year. The ozone levels are level RED which is really really bad. Terry and I were out in it yesterday. We went to Cavanaugh's Flight Museum in Addison. (north Dallas) Sun and wind proved to leave me in bad shape so today will be a dull ache day. Before the Museum we had lunch at Margiano's where Morgan works. The Halibut was fabulous and something I wish they would carry on the main menu. WOW! I have been working on small pieces for the Dutch Art Gallery Show. Several small 8 x 10's and a 9 x 12. Today I will do a larger piece and they we may print some giclees. I had hopes of a few days off, but with all the shows I do not think this is going to happen. Terry mentioned helping me w

TRIPLE LAYER home made Chocolate with THICK chocolate frosting and dark cherries between the layers and on top. Sprinkled then with powdered sugar and edged with fresh organic strawberries. Of course no calories. I need to remember to take my camera with me. On vacation the second night we were there, I woke early in the morning about five and stretched laz
FAST EDDIE Dog Portrait Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 inches SOLD Commission Painting Contact: Laurie Yes, I painted in New York. I painted Billie's Dog, Fast Eddie. My laptop has the pictures of Fast Eddie on it, but I have not in my bleary state of mind, transfered the pictures from the laptop to the Big Mac. These were still in the camera from our Wednesday Night Barbecue and Fire at Billie's home on Lake Juanita. Slightly tempered in paint choices, I used her oils and canvas to capture the look of her "child" Fast Eddie. He is quite a character. He does not like ANY men. He took exception to Terry once they got level on the floor and played. Terry is like the dog whisperer, he had Eddie totally in love before ten minutes passed. I painted out on Billie's deck, where deer run through the yards as well as bunnies and stray kitty cats. Mom snapped this picture of Billie and I as I finished Fast Eddies portrait. Terry is in the background m
Bauman Horse Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD This is me at the Bluff home, relaxed and enjoying 68 degree weather. This is Mom on the Deck outside the Bluff House over looking Lake Keuka, one of the Finger Lakes in Upper State NY This is the view from our Lake House on the Bluff of Keuka Lake. The home is three stories and Lake view and surrounded by gardens. It is probably five acres of gorgeous gardens on the bluff overlooking the lake. This is Terry with the Red Anniversary Corvettes outside McGregor Winery. Wishful thinking. I am on borrowed internet this morning and told Stacey I would blog. Our trip has been incredible in so many ways. The weather is unbelievable here.... cool nights in the low fifties and days in the mid seventies. No rain yet, but Morgan (who is staying at our house) said it has been raining. He reports both dogs are doing well and are spoiled. I just hope he is not allowing them to sleep in our beds! Yesterday morning I
DOG AND BOY IN PARK Figurative Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 inches Oil on Linen Panel Inquiries: Laurie Lazy dazy moment in the park. Beautiful golden Retriever and his master, a boy of about 10...collapsed in the shade of a tree. The boy appeared to be watching the clouds scooting across the sky. We haven't had many clouds lately! Preparations are underway for the trip late today. I will work this morning. Yesterday I picked up some framed pieces I commissioned from a fellow Daily Painter. Micah Condon has such a unique style that absolutely flows in my home! I had him do two pieces, one with a guitar and one with a piano. I had them matted and framed and wasn't sure where they were going, I thought behind the piano but once they were home it was a no brainer: Micah's work are the two pastels on each side of my abstract, the only painting I have in my house! GUITAR FINGERS Piano Fingers I have had worked framed at The Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas since I was
Boy and Pig Oil on Canvas by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Linen Panel Contact me: Laurie This weekend I began a few more small oil studies for the My Buddy and Me Series that I started this year. This captures a little boy in his cowboy boots feeding a baby pig with a bottle. This reminds me of feeling of childhood. When you are a child you have such basic needs. As an infant you are held, fed, changed, talked to, played with and rocked. You know not the full implications of what lies ahead in life and if you did, you would have voted to stay in the warm womb floating around. Growing up is filled with responsibilities, disappointments, joys, self destruction, (Like others don't do it to us enough, we have to do it to ourselves.) relationships, and life in general both good and bad. (again according to your perception.) Sometimes I just get weary. Weary of taking care of so much in my life that I brought into it. I can only blame myself and no one else, but I am weary. Four times
Appaloosa Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 x 2 inches To purchase please email me: Laurie Shalom Aleichem What is peace to you? If you sit and meditate, what do you conjure up in your eye's mind as peace? One of my favorites was the first time Terry took me sailing on the catamaran, (DART Catamaran) Morgan was with us. We were up on Lake Skytook in Oklahoma. Has to be one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever been on. At one point, Morgan being the precocious child he was, had Terry pull him by rope behind the boat. Yes he had on a life jacket. We were in a quiet cove with no one else around and we were gently moving. I laid down flat on the trampoline of the boat and closed my eyes. I felt then like I was in the hand of God. Weightless and floating with the sounds of the water and Morgan's laughter echoing in my ears. That was a peace moment that took me through some of the most difficult times of my life raising three children. "I lay down and
Morning Tea Pot Still Life Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 inch on Linen Panel Inquiries: Laurie It is time for some new mental skills in life. Are you ready for this one? I am not, but I am praying that God leads these fingers across the keyboard in front of me. I just got notice that my blog has been 'hit' or read over 30,000 times. Can I say WOW? Praise to God! I am inserting this note after finishing the blog below. After I complete my blog daily I usually go to either Dailyword.com or to Biblegateway.com for my bible verse. At Biblegateway I look up passages and at Daily Word I stop to read their message for the day, something I have been doing for over 40 years. I am always surprised when I do how often what I write ties so closely into their lesson for the day. I never go there first, I always write first. I went back into this blog and inserted some of the phrases from today's thought infused with in my thoughts. As a baby you learned thousands of thi
NIGHT WIND 2008 Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 x 2 inches Hangs without a Frame Inquiries: Laurie Well, I had an email about my Sovn bed. I still have to stand by my testimony that I have not slept this well EVER that I can remember. The bed puts us both in a very deep sleep and we both wake up refreshed, rested and no aches or pains. I have to adjust that this morning as I grabbed the wrong pillow last night and my neck is not the best it could be this morning. But No More BackAches... no more snoring from Terry...yeah... and he has no more pain in his shoulders and back at all. As far as the look of the flat tire bed in our huge four poster bed, the Sovn representative came out and is getting us a deeper base for the bed to set inside our four poster bed. This will not affect anything but the look. The cost of these beds is a bit heavy on the pocket book but when we weigh the rest and better health and happier body and moods, you cannot place a price
Nanie's Tea Service Still Life Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 9 x 12 inches Oil on Linen Panel Inquiries: Laurie I was smiling as I read the article written about me in the Dallas Morning News. I do not think the writer got the jest of the situation. She made is sound like I snapped my fingers to do what I have done. It has taken me 55 years to get where I am today. Every life experience, every job I have had, from head artist at an ad agency to modeling, to fashion illustration, to singing with a band... every experience brought me to where I am today. Her article made it sound like I did it all in four years. I just wanted to share with you that it takes more than that. As I appreciated the coverage, I did not appreciate the downgrading of the total amount of work that I put in at the computer and in my studio. The study, the painting day after day after day, hour after hour. I am NOT a weekend painter. I did NOT look at Galleries in Jackson four years ago and say, I CAN

WILD FOUR Horses Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 48 inches For Information: Laurie Saturday is here already. I am not sure where the time flies, but it does. I have been up painting. I actually finished this one yesterday so I can share it with you today. It is bound for The Red Tree Gallery unless I sell it before it dries to ship. My Aunt in St Louis is doing a bit better. I thank you all for prayers and I praise the Lord for his swift healing power. Little India is also doing quite a bit better as well. If I was charting this I would be noting the improvements with the prayer. Is your life as complicated as mine is? Seems like all of us have little theaters going on in different areas. I know I have my business theater, my marriage theater, my children theater, my pets theater, my parents theater etc etc etc. From outside looking in, my life is very chaotic. I have had to learn to simplify and refocus on what is essential. With every event I catch myself from react
