First Bloom 2009 Contemporary Art Magnolia Flower Daily Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas Commissioned Painting SOLD To commission a piece, contact me: Laurie "So the power of God could be seen in him." John 9:3 As you can tell I have been adjusting things on the blog. I had noticed Jelaine's blog and loved her three column approach and when I wrote her, she sent me on to Sarah Trefny , who was kind enough to help me add my third column. What I still need to figure out, is how to adjust the type margins not to hit the edges... but I am way out of my knowledge area now. You will see adjustments as I play with it! Yesterday was catch-up day. I had clients to meet with at lunch; infact Morgan and Kelly came too and hopefully both Morgan and I will be able to do some art work for this project. It is a Doctors Office of the future, so it is definitely pulling at my heart. Currently the practice is 30 years young and at this point totally built t
Painted Pony Contemporary Art Horse Daily Painting Palette Knife By Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission work: Laurie "In the Morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation." Psalm 5:3 Have you spent some time yet this morning talking to the Lord? I have always felt morning to be a good time to speak from my heart undisturbed to Him. No phones ringing, no little people tugging at me; nothing to interrupt the flow of prayer and thoughts exchanged with Him. This early morning time is a beginning of the day and the beginning of my waking hours. By spending this time with Him early, it reinforces my direction for the day and places me in the place I need to be, listening. Too often I am always in prayer requesting, asking, searching, probing, pleading and tearfully in despair. Most likely I should have sat in silence focusing on Him alone and the gifts I already possess an
Tentative Contemporary Art Daily Painting Horse by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Mixed Medium, Watercolor, Acrylic and Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie I was not sure what appealed to me here to define it....but this painting makes you take several looks at it...you can't just look once. The rhythm of the brushstrokes and the evolving colors seem to bring you back for more. If a painting is too perfect or too"comfortable".... you get bored easily and you don't look back. An artist strives to capture an emotion or feeling in their work that pulls the viewer into the painting. I firmly believe that happens in our lives every day. Seems like our society today pulls us many directions with enticements of color and excitement. Small example: Terry and I were walking out of the local Sherman Williams store and he goes "CHICKEN, I Smell fried Chicken." Of course this is after our one hour walk that morning when we both pledged to watch the i
Sharing a Hug Contemporary Art Daily Painting Horse by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Oil on Linen Panel GIFT for friend. SOLD For commission work, please contact me: Laurie YES I AM WAY LATE POSTING! It was snowing when we got up and we HAD to go out in it of course. I needed to make the grocery store for a huge package of ground beef to make the dogs food. We lucked out and got a BUY IT NOW huge package for only $3.00. They will eat well the next five days. I use my big soup pot and fill it with about 8-9 cups of water. To that water as it begins to heat to a boil I add garlic and onion diced, and any left over veggies from the frig. Today it was small grape tomatoes, yellow squash, broccoli, black beans, and of course carrots. I also drop some vitamin D drops in the mixture along with a 1/4 cup of Olive Oil. When this comes to a boil, we add four cups of brown rice. You let this cook until the rice is done. At this point you add either chopped up chicken that you boiled and debo
Racing the Wind Contemporary Art Palette Knife Horse Art Daily Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 48 OIL thick! COMMISSION SOLD and still wet, waiting to ship for the holidays Contact me for a gift, still time to paint and ship it to you! Laurie RED, she told me she loved the painting I posted yesterday. She had seen the original I posted 10 days ago before I repainted the orange background. RED, she wanted Red. She had also seen the one I painted that was three horses in a 30 x 36 inch venue...she loved that red, so I combined the two looks into one for the PERFECT RED painting for her. What is fun is sending pictures along the way so the collector can see the process as it goes and grows. This is painting that is enjoyable and very creative. Racing the Wind will head up to New York where it will live in the gorgeous four season state! Texas only has two seasons, Hot and Warm. Thank You Notes . I remember as a child my mother keeping lists at birthdays and Christmas and
VIOLETS Contemporary Art Watercolor Violet Flower Daily Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 inches on 300 lb watercolor paper. SOLD Contact me for Commission work: Laurie Monday is almost half way over and I am just getting here! NO I did not sleep late. That is wishful thinking. We were up by six thirty this morning and had breakfast together watching the news in the kitchen. Terry is busy boxing 10 pieces heading to The Red Tree Gallery in Atascadero California. She has just about sold out of my work. This takes more time as the pieces are all framed and more precautions have to be taken with boxing. I did this yesterday. Enjoy and be kind. Me, I am doing all the darn bookwork and lists and pricing and COAS etc. More work today, rarely a day off. Although yesterday we made a ran to Asel Art for Canvas for some commission paintings and then stopped by to see some of our oldest friends, Mike and Cindy Davis. They were part of the same high school group with Sheriff Elect Paul
THE JOURNEY Contemporary Art Daily Painting Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace 10 x 10 In process...not yet finished but close. Contact me if you are interested: Laurie ONLY a quick blog as we are heading out to the Barber Shop and then Lowes and then home to work. Did not make lunch yesterday as Annie, the older Kerrie Blue, decided she was ready for an outing and outed out of the backyard. It took us two hours of searching to find her and then 20 min to catch her. We were both worn out by that time and in no mood to eat lunch as our breakfast was still bouncing around in our stomachs! Closing out. That is my message this morning. Do you close people, places or things out of your life? Do you avoid things on purpose and not get involved? Sometimes we do this out of anxiety or fear that we do not fit in or we are not good enough. We justify it in our minds with other thoughts like "I just don't have time." or "I will try it next week." or "I don'
FRISCO LONGHORN Contemporary Art Longhorn Palette Knife Oil Daily Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 inches of THICK glorious Color! COMMISSION PIECE SOLD Contact me if you need a Longhorn! Laurie Monday begins with daylight already through the studio windows. I am packing paintings this morning and Terry and I will meet Mom and my brother and sister-in-law for lunch. I think it is fish day. When I was asked to be a part of Earth Works Art Gallery in Penn Yan New York, I was totally blown away by the generosity of the owner, Billie Bauman. She built this gallery with a purpose to touch lives along the way. She was generous with her split with the artist and of her portion she donated 10-15% to the charity of the artist's choice. In the end the Gallery only gained about 25% to pay bills and cover salaries. The Gallery often has a tight budget, but the work it does multiplies out into the world through her continued generosity. Click here to see Earth Works Art Gallery Did
FALL CHANGING COLORS Equine Horse Palette Knife Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Contact me to purchase. $650 Or make an offer. Laurie UP EARLY and I intend to work on books today. I might work on one painting though... at least get into a little paint this morning. I was suppose to go shopping with Stacey but she canceled out last night. SO a work day it will be for me. This is Saturday, some of you are off from "work" and some of you like me "work" all the time. Some like my hubby are at "work" today. No matter what you are doing today, do it for the Lord. God has a purpose for each of us. If we use those gift, talents and abilities that God gives us and use them in our lives or our professions it is through this use we are fulfilling His Sovereign purpose for us. He calls us to our individual work to give direction to our creativity. If your greatest desire is to use your gifts in his name then you will find success. Hard work wi
Sharing with a Friend Child and Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace Sharing with a Friend 16" x 20" (40.7cm x 50.8cm) Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas $499 plus $15 shipping and handling in the US E-mail me for International shipping rates or other inquiries. Today I am going to challenge you to reset your priorities. For each of you that will mean something different. None of our priorities are ever the same...but sometimes someone needs to get your attention and say RETHINK THIS. WHAT is most important right now and WHO is most important right now? I can only answer for me right now, not for you. God is first as always. Next I have to shuffle. I have again put myself on a back burner, fell off the wagon for loosing my summer weight gain, haven't done my exercise tape in four days, ate a brownie last night, and went to bed miserable. You know who can fix this??? Me. Maybe you all need to help me be accountable....egads, that is scary. How many times have I groaned
SUNRISE MEDITERRANEAN Italian Seascape Sunrise Oil Palette Knife Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 48 inches COMMISSION PIECE... SOLD. ..still drying on the easel! Contact me for pieces you might want to give for gifts this holiday. Laurie This is a huge commission piece I am just finishing up for a collector that already has two of my paintings, a tiny one and a midsized one. This will go in a stairwell on a long open wall and I cannot wait to see a picture of it hanging! Last night when Terry and I went to bed we were both pretty worn out. He has been hanging new outside doors and of course yesterday we did shipping for about 8 paintings going to their new homes. The economy slow down is affecting everyone right now, us included as the request for new paintings has slowed quite a bit. We are in prayer on our path right now. We absolutely love our home and wanted to stay here until he retired, but it may be more than we can do with the updating it still requires and my income b
TINK Child Portrait in Oil by Laurie Justus Pace 9 x 12 inches Contact me for Commission Work: Laurie It is not quite done, but close enough to post. She is out of my thoughts in anticipation of the upcoming grandchild. Hence she comes armed with crayons. Her name is Tink right now, but we truly do not know the sex of the baby coming. I may have to think boy next time. We have been calling the baby TINK so we have a name for praying about and talking to. Tink is short for TINKERBELL if it is a girl, and sTinker if it is a boy. We will have to wait on the Lord to reveal what this tiny one is! Waiting is not always the easiest thing in the world. Can you name anyone you know that is NOT waiting for something to happen in their lives? OR can you name anyone that LIKES to wait on something? I guess this too is part of our trait as a human. Whether it be waiting on traffic to clear so you can arrive at a destination on time, or waiting for your child to hurry out of school to be pi

I was praying and meditating on what to write this morning and I received one of my daily arrivals and knew immediately I would have to jump on this one as it tugged immediately at my heart. First, I want to thank you for your prayers for Sharon. She traveled on in Spirit to live in the full embrace of the Lord. He added another angel to kingdom. Yesterday was filled with high emotion and continual prayer as the families traveled to reach home to be together in celebration of such a wonderful woman and her life of giv
FASCINATION MUSIC Child playing Piano Art Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Acrylic with Varnish Overlays Original Antique music from 1902 forward used in the background. Contact me to Purchase or Commission one similar: Laurie CLICK HERE and catch my sale on my website ~ fabulous suggestions for gifts for the holidays! When I paint these compositions with Children and their music, it always takes me back to my early years at the piano and how much enjoyment I got from learning to play. I still play today and can sit there for hours and lose myself in the music. Do you ever think, Can I ever get there? Do you ever think, Oh if I change this or this, things might work out better? I believe firmly for myself is one of my biggest mistakes (sins) is trying to control and make things better for everyone around me. I want things to work out right and every one to be happy. I want CHANGE to the positive. I want physical change here on earth. What is missing is the fact that G

CLICK HERE to see all my Holiday Sales Pricing on Available Paintings on my website. CLICK HERE to view what is available at Earth Works Art Gallery, framed and ready to wrap for you! I am not sure about this one. There is a huge deeply crusted full man in the moon behind the horse. It did not pop through very well on this photo.... and the horse is dancing in the moonlight... I am not sure if I will paint more of not, but if for some reason you are attracted to this, email me and I will sell it at a good price this week. The colors celebrate but are not outspoken and the texture is unbelievable~ trust me on this one as I spent an hour alone carving and creating this huge moon behind the horse that stick out in impasto thickly. Wish I had more to share this morning. Still sleepy. I slept nine hours straight and I am just starting my day. I a
THE PAINT Horse Palette Knife Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 20 x 20 inches SOLD Contact me to purchase: Laurie We are back from Marble Falls and a relaxing time with Marnie and John at Patina. It was a wild ride home....we went a new way in the dark...and remember that AFTER you watch the slide show! Last night on the way home from Marble Falls, we decided to take the back way home. We had done it quite often when Morgan was in school at ST Edwards in Austin, but that was 4 or 5 years ago. We left around 5:30 and headed north on the Highway. We truly enjoyed the small towns we drove through as well as the gorgeous sunset to the west. We drove into Hico around seven and it was growing dark. We stopped to grab a snack for the car and headed out but I think we went the wrong direction. Terry had studied the map but we missed a quick turn turn to cut out about 15 miles and we suddenly were heading into Stephenville and I knew we were NOT suppose to be there at all. We eventua
Molly and Jerry Colorful Cow Art Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD OFF DAILY PAINTERS! THANK YOU! 9 x 12 inches of color Contact me to purchase. Laurie Woke up early. We had storms last night and I guess it disrupted the sleep pattern a bit. The dogs are restless. I put them out and of course the grass is wet so they have to do their business right outside the door. When daylight hits I will be out there scrubbing the patio. Terry is sleeping. He seems really tired for some reason. I do not think he feels well. We are both pretty worn out from life the past two weeks. My show in Marble Falls has crept up suddenly. I still have not made room reservations and will do that today. I need to get all the paintings ready to travel as well. We will not be gone long though, Terry is only going to take two days off from work for the trip. Stacey felt life this weekend with her pregnancy. It is so much fun to watch her experience these changes in her body. The best is yet to come. Go
MARILYN AND FRIENDS Guitar Music ART with Palette Knife by Laurie and Morgan Pace 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD COMMISSION Contact Me for commission pieces. Laurie Paint, something I did NOT do yesterday and for the next two days we are blessed with two 14 year old guests in the house. I promised them they could paint today, but I have to clean up before we can mess up. I wonder if God think about that with us too. He is constantly trying to clean up our messes and just as He begins to right our world, we always take off on another tangent with one of our desires; not our needs, but our wants jumping in. The infamous line, "Is it a need or a want?" that was common with the kids growing up. As adults we should stop and ask ourselves that same question. What direction are we heading in? What do we NEED, not want. How can we serve the "needs" of those around us and in our community? Most of us tend to go off on these tangents of want involving ourselves in d
NIGHT FLIGHT Abstract Horse Oil Painting Palette Knife by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD off Daily Painters! Thank you for your support! 24 x 24 x 2 inches Oil on Canvas. Contact me to purchase, mention the title of the painting: Laurie Friday. Yes I watched the debate last night. Did you? Learning and gaining insight and wisdom should be our job right now. I am watching the economy wavering thinking in my 55 years on earth I have never seen anything like this. I don't think my kids understand how dangerous it is right now. I am not one to panic but rather to gather what I need and make careful decisions with prayer on where to go and what to do. Our future depends on American Airlines for Terry and for me just folks that can still buy artwork. When I think of the parable of the talents from the bible it gives way for reflection. A man calls his servants together in a meeting. He hands each of them some money wanting to see how they will handle the money. One servant received five
DEEP MEMORY Horse Oil Painting with Palette Knife by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD before the paint was set an hour! Contact me for other work: Laurie Good morning Friends! It is five forty this morning as I begin this blog. I am determined to finish a painting after I finish this blog! Morgan is still asleep. We have a doctors appointment this morning to change out his dressings etc. around eight. Then he will be painting the rest of the day. The painting above was one I finished yesterday morning. I knew as I stepped back from it that it was special. I started another to finish today...but yesterday's has such depth to it's beginnings that it is almost alive and breathing with the spirit. Not mine but His that passes through me. All morning yesterday I emailed back and forth with someone concerning my work and purchasing some pieces. When we finally spoke on the phone, they chose the guitar six pack, a commission piece from Morgan and Through the Mist, a painting destined f
