The Horse Within Abstract Contemporary Acrylic Horse Palette Knife Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 x 2 inches Contact me to purchase and mention title of painting. Laurie Are we sure it is Wednesday? I know I slept last night but I don't know how or why. I am not prepared to blog much this morning with the happenings of yesterday so I will first blog about the painting above. All along I have seen only two horses in it, this morning I saw three. Take some time and study it... you might find four at this rate. Want to add a quick post to have you check out our friend Paul Fletchers two new sites. He is running for sheriff of Franklin County Texas. His blog is www.paulfletcherjr.blogspot.com and his website is www.paulfletcherjr.com I have been reading a book for our CPS license for RESPITE FOSTER credit called hummm , that I don't remember and I sent it to work with Terry today. In the first few chapters it talks about behavior and the basis that there are only two ma
Practice Makes Perfect... Music Mixed Mediums Music Child Piano Art Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches of 1909-1945 music from my grandfather's collection, layered with varnish and acrylics and more varnish. Probably 10-12 layers of work! Contact me to purchase and mention title: Laurie We slept in late. I guess you realize that since it is almost ten and I am just now blogging. Yesterday I worked on a new commission piece for the 10 cow story man that contacted me, so you will see that one in the next few days. We returned Morgan to his doctor for bandage change and then drove him home to his apt. We stopped on the way at Whole Foods and grocery shopped. We only bought essentials and got out for $149. That is fresh fruit (eight varieties) a chicken to barbecue, fresh veggies, onions, etc and a few core items like Rice milk etc. I do not skim on the organic fruit and veggies. I believe you are what you eat. No different that you are what you watch and you are what
GUITAR SIX PACK Guitar Music Contemporary Pop Art by Laurie Justus Pace Six Canvas, Each 4 x 6 inches in size OIL on Gallery Wrap Canvas, ready to hang. Contact me to buy: Laurie Too early for my eyes this morning. Terry doesn't work today and I sure should not be up working at this hour... 4:50 am. WHY? Well he got up complaining to be hot and turned off the fan. Most women do not know this fact, but somewhere around four in the morning or four thirty in the morning EVERY morning, your hormones take a dive. Guess it has something to do with the sleep cycle. So when you finally hit menopause, that is usually when the hot flashes are the worst... four a.m. Well even now I still get warm and so when the fan goes off I get warm, I am awake, and I can hear everything in the room. Now Terry is one of those TV men. We have all the necessities of TV, DVD, VCR, CABLE BOX, etc. in our bedroom. I am NOT a TV person. So, when the electronics are left on at night and it is only a few
BIG TEX Texas Longhorn Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 inches Previews at my opening at Patina of Marble Falls Oct 11th. This is UT Country. Contact Patina Of Marble Falls $2200 Marnie Moran I am up late an this is short on my half. Baby puppy Sasha kept me up most of the night. I am hoping they are all going home today. Yesterday I finished up this painting for the opening in Marble Falls. It is a beauty and I pray it will find a good home. Did you ever notice how hard it is to stay Faith-filled when everything around you is screaming FEAR FEAR...run for your life? Between the tumbling, or rather FALLING stock market and the soaring gas prices... oh and do not leave out the soaring unemployement and the grocery store prices....life is a bit off right now. Many of us face thoughts of how to eat next week, or what if I loose my job... and next your health begins to fail and your blood pressure begins to rise. Throughout the bible God has always seen His people through t
MOLLY AND BEN Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Contact me for pricing: Laurie SOLD ~ Thank you!! It's a sinus headache morning for sure. WORK TIME! Terry will be working two shifts today, commonly known as a double. He traded out to get last Saturday off for the Family Reunion. I have Morgan here on the couch still pretty banged up. Do not know for how long. Had hoped by tomorrow we would launch him back home after the doctor re bandages all the wounds. Sasha, his puppy is really cute, but a total pain as she is not house broken. I have been keeping her in the garden room because if my dogs see her they want to eat her. She already ripped up the screen door to the garden room. We have a life time warranty on this, so I will call them. I finished up a large music piece of a pianist and a violinist, well, finished part of it. Today are more varnish layers. I will be working on a few others along the way. Will be doing sketches for someone that asked me if
ALL IN POWER Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 x 2 inches Deep Gallery Wrap Contact me for pricing and mention the title: Laurie This painting was repainted... stay tuned for a new version! Yesterday we were working right along when the phone rang and it was Morgan, the youngest of our adult children. He isn't baked all the way yet, but I think it is time to put the timer on the oven to go off when he is done and walk away from the kitchen. We have seen him through more trials and situations than I would like to remember. I think that is why CPS sees us as STAR parents to be first on the list as FIRST CHOICE for each group of children we have looked at. It was a sleepless night for sure and I will be grouchy today. He laid his motorcycle down while riding it yesterday on the freeway. No, he doesn't have health insurance with the job he got four months ago, he did, but since he waits tables, his actual paycheck is NOT enough to cover the monthly fee
DREAMY EYES Contemporary Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches on Wrapped Canvas Contact me for pricing: Laurie I am still recovering from the trip to see my father. It was a beautiful drive in the country as we took a back route around the lakes, and we made it in record time despite my NOT driving fast. He was ready when we arrived and begin lecturing us about "presence", and kept saying he didn't mean presents, but presence. For a man "with out" cognitive behavior I found this quite advanced. There are areas of his brain still firing out with reasoning. He was upset because he wanted my mother's presence in his life. He explained he was saying the word PRESENCE not presents. He never mentioned HOME, he only said, "I love you and we need to be together. I need your presence in my life." Needless to say Terry and I were still up at midnight last night (seven hours ago) discussing this. We took Dad out for lunch and he at
FALL COLLECTION Abstract Floral Paint Pull Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 12 x 24 inches Contact me to purchase, special pricing: Laurie SOLD THANK YOU!!! Sunday Morning and the house is quiet as I get Terry off to work. Later Mom and I will drive up to see Dad today. THEN upon arriving home, I am three days behind after being caught up after the summer, so I will be working late tonight and through the next few days. It is bad when I am out of paintings to post on my blog. We enjoyed our time with Mark Bryant. He boarded a plane late yesterday afternoon to head back to Nevada. I am laughing at the Tomato, TOMMAATO thing the long "a" sound or the "ah" sound. I do not pronounce Nev"ah"da correctly....it is Nev "a" da. I may have to work on that after 55 years of saying it incorrectly. The family reunion was all too fast. It was in a church we had never been to and we were surprised at the small turnout. I think some folks got lost. U
RENO PONIES Painted Pull Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Contact me to purchase and mention title in email: Laurie The days are busy with preparation for our Family Reunion today. GOOD FOOD, GREAT FAMILY and lots of visiting. I won't blog long as I have to go prepare my dishes! I have written before about letting go and letting God... and today I want you think about your life as a grand gift that is before you. You cannot even imagine what is in the plan for today. Focusing on God and allowing a release to Him and being ready to receive. Let go of thoughts of physical or emotional pain that you carry around. Clear out your body and mind for Him to heal what is there. We cannot fix what is wrong in our lives, but we can focus on Him. Through Him we are able to let go and find the peace we need to heal both physically and spiritually. BE ENTHUSIASTIC TODAY! GOD IS GOOD! Grace, Laurie "You show me the path of life. In your presence there is f
A Walk in the Garden Figurative Woman in Garden Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 15 x 30 inches Contact me to inquire and mention title of painting: Laurie SOMETHING special arrived at my house yesterday, oh besides Mark, the gallery owner from Nevada. As he came through the door with hubby, there was a package on the doorstep. I glanced at Terry and asked him what he had bought, knowing my purchase was in the dining room and he had not seen it yet. We opened the package and it was an ABSOLUTELY STUNNING piece of metal works from Nevada, but we do not know who sent it to us. As he pulled it out and looked at it he thought it was an abstract Scorpion... But as I held it up I saw the face of our Lord. I must take a picture of it hanging and see if I can include it in the blog today or tomorrow. It is out in the living room and Mark is still sleeping, so I am being quiet. THANK YOU to whoever sent this gorgeous piece. OH MY, there is not enough room in this blog or time in my day to
THREE RED APPLES Fruit ART Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 inches on Linen Panel contact me: Laurie Bright and early...no wait, dark and early. It is 5:49 a.m. as I begin this blog. Terry left but his face was really green. We went out and ate for Justin's birthday last night and Justin, Terry and Morgan all ate VEAL CHOPS. Personally I do not eat much beef. Especially when I do not know where it came from. I won't eat baby Cow at all. An occasional hamburger is okay and when there is steak, I eat about six bites but that is it. SOOO, my man did not have a restful night and I hope he does better today. I did not have to fix breakfast or pack his lunch. Today Mark Bryant is flying in for my show tonight at the Dutch Art Gallery. I think it is meet the artist from six to nine. He wants to see a collection of work and watch me paint for a day. I like gallery owners that take an interest in your work and your life. He is just getting his gallery up and going i
Dreaming in Color Abstract Horse Art Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 x 2 inches Contact me to purchase and remember to include the name of the painting! Laurie Okay I was painting so hard today I forgot to blog. I have been gone out to dinner with the kids as it is Justin's birthday today... my oldest son is 33. We enjoyed a great dinner. Morning Haze Peace 1 Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission work. Laurie Well I have been up for an hour and a half and not really accomplished much. I weeded through my mail box which was stuffed full. I visited the Grand Canyon with my friend Jan and her husband, I traveled to New York with photos from our trip to visit Billie, I saw owls my little brother photographed in his back yard...visited with friends in Argentina, Denmark and Hong Kong and I think I could climb back in bed and sleep again now! It is amazing how much the internet fills our lives at times. I love it and hate it... too much time is spent in front of this screen. Terry and I are heading out to do two miles. It is in the fifties here, VERY unusual so we want to take advantage of it. God give these special gifts to us to keep us going...have you noticed lately? We have had two things, rain and cooler weather. Believe in miracles and gifts. They are all around you,
Blue Moon Rising Horse Absrtract Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 x 2 inches Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase and mention title of painting: Laurie The moon is huge outside this morning. Terry just left for work and I walked him out to the truck. I have not seen the stars this bright since we lived out in the country, and the Moon, it is full and bright enough to look like the sun in the night sky. After the rough night of weather this is a glorious gift to receive this morning and I give thanks. Yesterday I was painting and listening to music and it was a Christian Rock section on my IPOD. I heard the words of a song I have heard a thousand times and something clicked in my head. There are times you search for ways to explain things to grandchildren and children I guess and you can't always grasp how to explain it. The verse went on about Jesus wearing the Crown of Sin and when I heard the words something happened within me. Remember a time in your life when y
GROUP HUG Family of Horses Art by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 x 2 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me for Pricing. Laurie Well, the hurricane is on all channels. My brother and mother are going to drive north to Bonham this morning to visit my dad. I am 50/50 on going as I spent the day shopping with mother yesterday and I really need to stick around here and I am not the best car rider in the back seat when driving through major weather. They are predicting the rains to be here later this afternoon. At the rate the storm keeps changing paths, we may not see as much rain here in Dallas at all...but where Dad is, is north east of here and that is in the path of heavier rain. Last night we dropped by The Dutch Art Gallery after my brother called and said, DID YOU KNOW there is a wine and cheese party tonight? NO we did not. We were sitting at the table eating homemade brushetta, homemade speghetti and meathballs and thick yummy desserts from Henk's in Dallas. I was even miserable wh
PSALMS 1 Mixed Medium Angel Art Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Contact to purchase and mention the title: Laurie This is a close up of the facial area and the background. This was the experimental first piece on Psalms, but it is not where I want to be, but once you lay the layers on, they truly do not come off, so this piece will have to find a good home to enjoy it and love it. For me it has too much control. My control. I only have one more painting to deliver to the Dutch Art Gallery. She asked me to do a Poppy and I did, but it is still wet. Easy to pop in a frame though as it is 11 x 14. Stacey stopped by yesterday after her latest Doctors appt and we dropped by the gallery for her to see the work hanging. Makes a difference for sure to see it on their walls rather my walls. Most of this work will travel to The Red Tree in Atascadero California and to my show in Marble Falls at Patina. Are any of you writers out there? Are you TV/Movie watchers? Having a go
MUSIC MONDAY STRING NUMBER 3 Guitar Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace and Morgan Haskell Pace 24 x 18 x 2 Oil on Deep Canvas, Needs no frame. Contact me to purchase and mention the title: Laurie Morgan was over last week and as always he picks up a guitar and hits it hard. He broke another string. He will be banned from my guitars at this rate. It is a pain to go buy strings. AND what I do not get is his generation basically is not responsible. IF I broke something of my mom's I would be falling all over myself to fix it. He will do nothing...so I will be changing my attitude with him now. At 27 he should be responsible...right? This painting we did together. He needed to paint and I sketched it out and his remark was, I don't want to paint guitars, and I said, OK, I will. I started pulling the layers and he got really excited and jumped in to work with me. This piece ROCKS. IT has paint a half inch thick in places. The little knobs to adjust sound are dimensional as t
WITH AN ATTITUDE Abstract Horse Mixed Media Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 Overlays Collage Paper, Acrylics and Varnish Contact to Purchase and mention title: Laurie I experimented further with plain paper, layering it patiently with varnish layers and then painting in layers over it. I guess there are about four layers of paint. Today I will add at least five more layers of varnish to the top. This has been a mission with me to try different things for expression. I have a question and I am sure I will get various answers and probably many of them. What would be your feelings if I used old bibles that are basically in tatters. No spine left, pages deteriorating etc...I am giving thought to using them in a piece of art that would last hopefully another century or more. Terry and I talked about this in depth how reactions could vary. I would only use pages from bibles that are basically in pieces. Almost reminded me a making a quilt where you use pieces of fabric from you
Pretty Sunflower Sunflower Floral Art Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 6 x 6 inches of Oil on Board SOLD OFF DAILY PAINTERS! THANK YOU FOR COLLECTING! Contact me: Laurie Rainy Tuesday today, but we are still waiting for the rain to arrive. This will be a short blog as I want to get a walk in before it comes our way. Before we walk though, I will sit in my garden room and prepare for the day. Close my eyes, try not to fall back asleep, relax and imagine myself surrounded by God's light. It is from this meditation I will receive the necessary tools to make this day and to serve Him as I should today. What is to be done? I know it will appear to me through out the day with out me looking for it. What is to be done, will be done. He guides us all through our days if we just stay focused on Him. Grace, Laurie "By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet in

We have six paintings to ship to new homes today and we will be taking my work up to the DUTCH ART GALLERY for the upcoming show that starts this weekend. Remember if you are in the Dallas area, meet the artist is on Thursday night the 18th. Yesterday we scooted out of Dallas and drove east to Mt Vernon to visit Paul and Vicki Fletcher. Paul went to jr high and high school with us and Miss Vicki is his wonderful wife and the love of his life. That man takes such good care of her it just amazes me. They do not make husbands like Paul anymore. My Terry is good, but not that good! We saw the horses, cows, donkeys, rabbits, cats and dogs...enjoyed swimming and then a fabulous cook out with yummy hamburgers. I am going to put together a sight for Paul for his internet presence... he is running
