The Thought:   We are connected through life with our ancestors tracing way back to early times and the development of man as he made his way finding food and making shelter as he left the Garden of Eden.  There is basic instinct to survive in all of us, put there by God so we don't just give up and starve to death. This painting is called the Hunter in reflection of that strength to survive. Horses in the wild have a natural instinct to be aware of danger before it hits using their sense of smell and the changes in nature around them. They are constantly listening and sniffing.

Terry and I watched Return to Snowy River last night..pretty darn cool watching those horses run. His pneumonia continues and his chest is still full and tight. We go back to the doctor on Thursday... his antibiotic only has one more day. The Thought:   Can you share the grace?  There are times you are in a "hugely" wonderful mood. Something positive has made you smile deep inside and you feel safe and content with the happenings.  It is so easy to say grace and thanks when it occurs. Those surprise blessings often come out of nowhere... but they are from somewhere, they are from God. This contentment was brought by the Spirit to bring you good and only

When I began this as a charcoal sketch on canvas, my mind had a direction already planned. As I painted it did not come together as I knew it would and I felt lost with it. I hung it on the wall...went away for a few days, came back and finished it.  This morning before blogging I took pictures and looked at them and realized I had finally captured the spirit I wanted, but not in the colors I thought it would be.  When I hung it up last night to finish drying for the second go round, I was thinking, who could I gift this to so I don't throw away the canvas.  But the moment I downloaded the camera...the presence was there and I was amazed. IT had been there all the time, I just could not see it because I had something else I was looking for that did not exist. The Thought :  What I

I will probably do a similar follow up piece and I loved moving the paint around on the canvas. Those are really the most unique pieces that take on a strong spirit of their own. Prepared for the stay at home day, we had bought New York Strip Steaks from Whole foods. He almost looks texturally real in person. The Thought:  Today I am still with my granddaughter enjoying her soft smells and her sticky fingers from learning to feed herself. I love it. Best Christmas Present ever. I often sit rocking her with the bible in my hands ,  reading to her from the bible. The Thought:  With this season of advent I am challenging you to renew the SPIRIT and enrich your life.  Every year at the end of the year we all begin thinking about New Year's Resolutions.  I do not even want to go there.   Give some thought as to how you can renew the Spirit in your life.    You might think about praying a bit more and talking and walking with God.  Do it when you are not distracted...when things are calm. If the weather allows, try walking outside and surround yourself with God's creation. I guarantee you will be calmer and more rested when you are done. The Thought:  Yesterday I travel with my mom to visit my Dad .  I avoided the major freeways and we drove up through a direct street going north and took a risk and took off down another road just taking a guess to go east. We missed it one road too soon but veered off to the north and picked up the right road and traveled through some gorgeous Texas countryside.  Serious horse farms, hall bales and wonderful old farm houses just bursting with grazing cattle and gardens still producing for winter. The Thought : Our daughter is a junior in high school and taking all the PSAT testing etc.   We received a pamphlet in the mail from the school district, SAT PREP COURSE.  Raise your Score on teh SAT, Enroll in the RISD SAT Prep course. WHY?  In the past 10 years since we sent our last one to college, the SAT has become the highest law into getting into college. SAT, ACT, and lots of paranoid parents putting the students through prep courses wanting their son/daughter to get into the best college.  Why are we doing all of this?
