'The Hunter' Contemporary Equine Art Horse Oil Large Daily Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'The Hunter' 30 x 30 inches  Oil on Canvas No longer available. SOLD Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: Wonderment always when things go together like this... harmony in painting at it's best. Holbein Duo Oils and Liquitex Acrylics all in tune together with the Spirit and my paint brush on canvas. The Thought:   We are connected through life with our ancestors tracing way back to early times and the development of man as he made his way finding food and making shelter as he left the Garden of Eden.  There is basic instinct to survive in all of us, put there by God so we don't just give up and starve to death. This painting is called the Hunter in reflection of that strength to survive. Horses in the wild have a natural instinct to be aware of danger before it hits using their sense of smell and the changes in nature around them. They are constantly listening and sniffing.

'Splashing in the Rain' Contemporary Equine Art Horse Daily Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Splashing in the Rain' 18 x 24  Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting :  This painting is emotional Textured, thick acrylics with contrast and color exploding.. just as a horse running through puddles and rain. Terry and I watched Return to Snowy River last night..pretty darn cool watching those horses run. His pneumonia continues and his chest is still full and tight. We go back to the doctor on Thursday... his antibiotic only has one more day. The Thought:   Can you share the grace?  There are times you are in a "hugely" wonderful mood. Something positive has made you smile deep inside and you feel safe and content with the happenings.  It is so easy to say grace and thanks when it occurs. Those surprise blessings often come out of nowhere... but they are from somewhere, they are from God. This contentment was brought by the Spirit to bring you good and only

'Heads Up' Contemporary Equine Art Horse Daily Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Heads Up' 18 x 24  Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: Another diamond in the rough. When I began this as a charcoal sketch on canvas, my mind had a direction already planned. As I painted it did not come together as I knew it would and I felt lost with it. I hung it on the wall...went away for a few days, came back and finished it.  This morning before blogging I took pictures and looked at them and realized I had finally captured the spirit I wanted, but not in the colors I thought it would be.  When I hung it up last night to finish drying for the second go round, I was thinking, who could I gift this to so I don't throw away the canvas.  But the moment I downloaded the camera...the presence was there and I was amazed. IT had been there all the time, I just could not see it because I had something else I was looking for that did not exist. The Thought :  What I

Kyra and her Irish Horse by Texas Aritst Laurie Justus Pace Child and horse Oil painting

'Kyra and the Horse, Ireland ' 6 x 6 inches  Oil on Board Contact me to purchase by check or paypal or to commission a painting.  Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  This picture was sent to me by a collector in CT.  I love painting her kids; they are in the banner at the top of this blog.  This is not a good representational painting of Kyra but mainly capturing her with the horse... catching the feeling and the mood.  I want to do a large painting, maybe 8 x 10 or so of just her face with the horse.   I will be sprinkling these in as I do them.  The next may be a soccer girl... from a collector up north.  Wait and watch.... meanwhile remember to send me a picture if you have a good one for me to paint. The Thought :  Yesterday I spent time in Psalm 25 .   Do you know your Psalms pretty well?  The Lord is my Shepherd is the 23rd Psalm...then the 24th Psalm is a strong song followed by the 25th which I was led to read as I am

'Born of Night' Contemporary Equine Art Horse Daily Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Born of Night' 24 x 36  Acrylic Overlays on Canvas SOLD Thank you! Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This is one of my enjoyable acrylic wash layers that I love doing . I have not decided if I am done with it or not... so you might see it again.  The soft blues are my favorites to work with. The Thought: PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE... my heart is praising .   I got my first box of my Heart Books from LULU today and they turned out beautifully.  I truly give all the credit to God for the majority of my work. There are those times I jump in without the spirit, and altho I execute a painting, it lacks the spirit.  Then I have to give incredible thanks to Jan Wenstrand and her magic in correcting all my typos and grammar issues.  Some folks are so good at that, and some of us are not! So this day I am celebrating the gift with praises of joy and adoration and thanks . It will be a little lighte

She is planning on painting 28 horses in 28 days of February. There is another artist doing 100 portraits in 100 days.  Leave me out on that one.  I can't do horses with Debbie doing them in February, I will have to wait and save them... but this would be a good time to consider 28 days of IMPRESSIONS.  I have several folks that have sent me very very darling, cute pictures of their children doing things.  I am going to do Impressions of the Younger Generation.  Send me your ideas fo

'Soul Mates' Contemporary Equine Art Horse Daily Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Soul Mates' 24 x 36  Mixed Medium on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:   Soul Mates... Yes this is for the two friends, lovers, couples, married folks... the two people that are in sync with each other.  The two that can finish a sentence for each other or know what the other is thinking from miles away.  Soul Mates.  One of my UK collectors saw this and said it reminder her of Easter.  The more I looked I saw what she saw... the Lord is part of your soul as well...woven through you and about you...His touch surrounds you. The Thought : HAPPY NEW YEAR!   2010 is here and the beginning of a new decade.  Are you ready to go?  Are you ready to start a new day in a new decade and a new life dropping all the old stress you carry around?  If you can figure it out, drop me another email...I am still working on it. NO I did not make a list of New Year's Resolutions. I have enough l

'Wild Stallion Run' Contemporary Equine Art Horse Daily Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Wild Stallion Run' 30 x 30  Acrylic on Canvas SOLD THIS MORNING ALREADY! THANK YOU! Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting:   Deep and Rich are the two main adjectives for this piece. I will probably do a similar follow up piece and I loved moving the paint around on the canvas. The Thought:   Someone once ask me how long it took to complete a particular painting.   My reply was one shared with me by fellow artist Diane Whitehead.... my reply was simply, "It took 57 years."  That is how old I am, and truly that is how long it took to do this particular painting.  Diane was correct as it takes every experience in our lives to get where we are at this second.  So as the year 2009 comes to a close this evening , I look back at a year of so many blessings I cannot count them.  Change alone is a blessing if you look at it that way.  Change is never good nor bad, it is simply chan

'Three in the Snow' Contemporary Equine Art Horse Daily Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

'Three in the Snow' 18 x 24 inches  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: Three in the Snow started out to be Jade on her horse but when I started applying the chocolate colored paint it truly took on its own life and is no longer what it was originally. Those are really the most unique pieces that take on a strong spirit of their own. The Thought:   Is this what you want to do for the rest of your life?  Is this all there is?   Yesterday was movie marathon day as we had rain, sleet and snow . Prepared for the stay at home day, we had bought New York Strip Steaks from Whole foods. Terry grilled the steaks and I made homemade mashed red potatoes, fresh steamed green beans and salted Ciabatta bread. Terry spent the day on his computer and Crystal and I spent it vegging on the couches watching movies.  We started out with The Lake House, then went to Kate and Leopold, then ca

'Red Horse' Equine Art Texas Horse Painter Daily Horse Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

'Horse of Red' 20 x 30 inches  Oil on Canvas SOLD ALREADY! Thank you. Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting:  The background does not show up well here at all...but it is really pretty in warm blacks fading into beautiful periwinkles and blues.  The horse is solid with the scraping and layering. He almost looks texturally real in person. The Thought:  Today I am still with my granddaughter enjoying her soft smells and her sticky fingers from learning to feed herself. I love it. Best Christmas Present ever. I often sit rocking her with the bible in my hands ,  reading to her from the bible. She is so relaxed leaning back against my chest, her hands on my arms, and although I know she does not understand what I read, I believe fully she feels it. The energy from His word passing through me to her. I encourage you to spend a little more time in your bible this new year and

Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting:   This was created just for Michael in celebration of his newest opera. It is done with my Music Series. It is a wonderful story about four black horses.  One day I will share more about it in a few months, so stay tuned.  On the background is the score from his new Opera performed I believe recently in Delaware.  I was the blessed artist to receive a CD of the opera and a DVD of the performance. Here is the review: Michael Dutka’s opera Black Horses and The Stronger were commissioned by OperaDelaware, and performed at Saints Andrew and Matthew Episcopal Church. A winning array of singers handled Dutka’s daunting scores with ease. In Black Horses, soprano Elizabeth Zell sang beautifully and clearly the libre

As always thick paint adorns the surface in my signature style. The Thought :  I knew a few months ago a reporter phoned me about my artwork saying she was writing an article for Cowboys and Indians. We visited on and off for a week and I sent images to her.  Well last night I was speaking with a collector from Wimberly Texas and she mentioned seeing my work in the newest edition of C&I.  Mind you it was already 9 pm...but I started up my little diesel  Passat  (She was not hap

While you are talking with Him and praying, put it all out there for Him. When y

Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting:  This is the second in the mini series I am doing.  Again a perfect stocking stuffer for your equine lover. The Thought:  With this season of advent I am challenging you to renew the SPIRIT and enrich your life.  Every year at the end of the year we all begin thinking about New Year's Resolutions.  I do not even want to go there.   Give some thought as to how you can renew the Spirit in your life.    You might think about praying a bit more and talking and walking with God.  Do it when you are not distracted...when things are calm. If the weather allows, try walking outside and surround yourself with God's creation. I guarantee you will be calmer and more rested when you are done. Yesterday I continued on with my calmness and my moment by moment talks with God.  Every single time I began to stress

Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting :  Another series thick Acrylic Painting that I absolutely loved painting . There is so much power in the paint and the spiritual side of this piece...it jumps off the wall at you. The Thought:  Yesterday I travel with my mom to visit my Dad .  I avoided the major freeways and we drove up through a direct street going north and took a risk and took off down another road just taking a guess to go east. We missed it one road too soon but veered off to the north and picked up the right road and traveled through some gorgeous Texas countryside.  Serious horse farms, hall bales and wonderful old farm houses just bursting with grazing cattle and gardens still producing for winter. I told my mom with all our travels each year from Dallas to St Louis , several times a year... I always wanted to take off down one

Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting :  Yes, a new one... one of the pulled paints done in Acrylic paint.   Ready for a new home for Christmas. Email me with an offer:   Laurie The Thought: Love...my thoughts are rolling into the arena of love. When does love begin? Does it have a beginning?  God does not have a beginning or ending and His love for us is the same. No matter what we do to ourselves and our lives...God loves us unconditionally.  We tend to sink our selves and punish ourselves more than He ever could. God's heart was prepared for us before we were even created. His love is unchangeable. Can you imagine standing in a very warm shower enjoying it as the water pelts gently down on your back or face... and the water stays hot and never gets cold?  You could stand there 24 hours and the hot water would continue? OR that you coul

Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting : From my archives.   Soft with the moment in winter when the wind stops and snow is piled high and even the cold does not feel cold....the horses are business as usual. The Thought : Our daughter is a junior in high school and taking all the PSAT testing etc.   We received a pamphlet in the mail from the school district, SAT PREP COURSE.  Raise your Score on teh SAT, Enroll in the RISD SAT Prep course. WHY?  In the past 10 years since we sent our last one to college, the SAT has become the highest law into getting into college. SAT, ACT, and lots of paranoid parents putting the students through prep courses wanting their son/daughter to get into the best college.  Why are we doing all of this? Why are we complicating our lives so much? WHY so much life prep in the wrong areas? More rules, more co
