Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. " 1 Peter 5:9-10 The Painting: This is 30 x 30 Canvas and truly this size is one of my favorites to paint on. Terry hates boxing them! This painting looked totally different when it started. It was in all purples and blues with some yellow green... and look at it now. Learn more below in my story! My Thought for the Day: Last week must have been a weird moon week or something. I was on the Boards at Daily Painters and was reading a message from Micah Condon, the founder of Daily Painters about Maryanne Jacobson and one of her pieces. She had written about how the

" " Genesis 3:11 A Painting a Day: Nude studies I have not painted in a long time. I may not be done with these...but they are close. Painting small is always a challenge and I am accustomed to doing nudes with a palette knife in multiple colors. These are with soft oils applied with brush. My thought for the day: When I think of the word "naked"... I don't really think of being with out clothes... I think of being emotionally open. It is a vulnerability of the soul. The long term discussion of Eve and the apple still goes back to Adam stood there and watched her do it. He was guilty by not stepping up and saying "no". When I was painting these two figures I k

He said to him, 'Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.' Jesus said to him, 'Feed my lambs.' " John 21:15 The Posted Painting: A struggle between palette knife and color and the color won out. This is one of my earlier horse paintings from 2006. We are still recovering from the storms here and not much painting is happening right now. My thought for the day: Partnerships are great. Think of what positives comes from having someone working with you toward a goal. That could be a spouse, a business partner, a teacher and student, a minister and his flock, or you and God. There are many possible combinations. When there are two together, they stand stronger than one. When

" Proverbs 1:32-33 THE PAINTING TODAY: This is a painting done several years ago. I have a huge mess here after our big storm yesterday and scrambling to post this morning. This is a palette knife painting with warm colors on a field of blue and green. The contrast is there, but the feeling of the composition is one of calmness. Hence I named it "with grace". My Thought for Today: Yesterday was NOT a typical day at all and this "thought" is not typical either! I had an opening last night at a new super doctor clinic in town with my art work.... and was looking to a calm day of painting and getting ready fo

You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor ." Exodus 20:17 A PAINTING A DAY: This was painted a few years ago as a commission painting. I have not had time to take pictures of my work from the weekend yet, so I pulled from my archives. My Thought for the Day: There is a song from Vacation Bible School from many summers ago, when my grandson was only 5. I led the music for bible school and the theme song was "I AM A PROMISE". The words have never left my brain and my grandson is almost 12 now. I think it went like this: "I am a promise I am a possibility I am a promise with a

" 2 Thessalonians 1:11 A Painting a Day: This is one of my collected painted pony pulls. This is an exclusive style that I developed in 2005, which is a story in itself. If you ever buy one I might share the story! This is a painting created in layers, MANY LAYERS. It takes lots of paint, patience and trial and error. The effect reminds me of shimmering heat, the kind of heat we have in Texas. My Thought for the Day: Time to climb out of our boxes today. If we can do that... my imagery is with a ladder because I am so deeply down in this box. By stepping out of our comfort zone and our "self" zone, we can then begin to serve others. God embraces us daily in our walk, and today is a

Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " Amazement seized all of them, and they glorified God and were filled with awe, saying,'We have seen strange things today. '" Luke 5:26 A Painting A Day: Inspired by the "Bathed in Light" © 2009, I began a journey with undercoats of Raw Sienna and Cobalt Blues. The next layer was in golds and yellow until I had a consistency built up to the edgy point of carving. Working on the square canvas leads to either many horses or just one. You can see where it ended up. Adding at least 12 more layers of color, this painting is quite thick. It gets to the point I am carving in paint and I love it! When Buying Art Work off the Internet: There are hundreds of fabulous artists selling their work on the internet. While it is always good to do your homework and check out their experience and their number of years painting,

24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for commission work: Laurie " The Law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the decrees of the Lord are sure, making wise the simple. " Psalm 19:7 A Painting A Day: Eruption of color and movement are what comes to mind when I think of this piece. It began totally as a different subject and the subtle movement of twisting color brought this composition into focus as a thick dimensional feeling emerged. Areas of paint are up to 3/4inch thick. Those are the wonderful Holbein Duo Oils I use... no impastos on this baby! A Thought for the Day: There are those days in life that seem out of focus. From the moment you wake and throw off the covers it feels different. At first it might be thoughts of, "I didn't sleep well last night... I could use another hour of sleep." or "Is it Sunday or Monday?" That is my favorite. With Terry working a weird schedule from the rest of the world, I never know what

Pink Peonies in a Crystal Vase ~ Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas Palette Knife Painting Contact me to purchase: Laurie ©Laurie Pace Graphics One Design " The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom and whatever else you get, get insight ." Proverbs 4:7 A Painting A Day: This is the third in my light series of flowers. The beginnings of each of these are a study in values and light done in off shades of acrylic paint, totally different than final hues. This allows me to study the painting as I begin to pull in the oils by palette knife. First layer is a charcoal sketch blocking in the composition. Second layer is acrylic in blue, black, orange and white. Third, the final layer is oil pulled with the palette knife. My Thought for the Day: Okay, as you read this message this morning ...STOP. Stop and think about why you are here... here on this earth. Here with this family and friends... what is the true purpose and meaning of your life? You are made up of years of daily experiences that have molded you in

The Warrior ~ Horse Abstract Art Painting by Laurie Pace

24 x 30 inches Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace " He had great success in everything he did because the Lord was with him ." 1 Samuel 18:14 A Painting a Day: It started with the thought of grey blue and doing a quiet painting with maybe misty white horses advancing from the grey blue din behind. As you see it didn't pan out that way at all. Layers and layers of grey blue acrylic began the process with movements of violet dashing in and out. As the white layers came to play, it was evident it could not be a quiet painting as color seems to burst out of my work unplanned. Golden Acrylics and Liquitex Acrylics are both so thick and buttery... it almost makes it fun! For those of you that love my work but the larger pieces are out of range, I have decide to do a series of smaller pieces that will be available at $100-150. Watch for them soon. My Thought for the Day: There is a point in biblical history where Israel is getting clobbered
A Painting a Day ~ River Crossing ~ Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Pace 20 x 24 x 2 inches Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie " We are people of flesh and blood. That is why Jesus became one of us. " Hebrews 2:14 A Painting A Day : Contemporary Abstract Art , this painting embraces the contrast of color. Cool layers of blues were laid out on the canvas first, followed by the yellows. I knew the greens would emerge as the overlays began. The small accents of red and orange are like "spices" in your food. They bring out the movement of the composition accenting it just in balance to treat the eye and keep it exploring the painting. Golden Acrylics were used as paint; there was no impasto used...just thick paint. My Daily Thought: I know I have written before about my favorite phrase. "If People would just do their jobs...." That is my cry of frustration I can't seem to replace. I need to stop and put myself in the place of the person

This was a commission piece for a very special doctors office opening here in Dallas. Color and energy are all apart of the healing process...waking the body to the "good news" of life through empathetic viewing , as energy passes from the canvas to the viewer. My thoughts for the day: The last time I was really sick was about a year ago in February when I had the flu and we had no heat, no hot water, and partial electricity. Go back and read my blogs from then. It was not a pretty thing. Terry would trot
