New Day of Color, Horse Painting, Abstract Western Art by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas Contemporary Art for your Home! SOLD It is way early. I have been up since three. I am going to start on the big guy this morning.. the 48 x 72 inch canvas in my little studio! This painting I posted I just finished yesterday. It is one of my horizon horse paintings. THICK with rich paint, these pieces are dimensional. I always have joy in my heart painting these and discovering where the horses are coming out of the paint. Peacemakers and harmony. WORDS to ponder. Are you a peacemaker? I have had that role my entire life...always seeking harmony in my family and trying to sooth tempers and situations. Occasionally I get weary of doing this and want to scream....I AM HERE, can anyone see me or hear me? Quite the opposite of what you would think of a peacemaker. I was at that point last night and I am sure I will get there again. Conni and I spoke yesterday a
SPRING LOVE, horses, western art by Laurie Justus Pace Oil on Canvas 24 x 30 inches on Gallery Wrapped Canvas Contemporary Art inspired by the ART OF GOD Tuesday morning brings a brisk breeze outside and a hint that fall is to come and heat is almost behind us. I will be working in the studio painting today. I was going to go into Dallas with Terry, but there are WEST NILE warnings out both here in Denton county and in the Lake Highlands area where we would be working outside. Terry and I can be standing next to each other and I will have 50 bites and he won't be touched. Enough said! This painting is available in my eBay store, or heck, just email me! You save more buying from me directly anyway. Currently this painting is in a shop in Rockwall, but can be picked up and shipped directly to you. Yesterday we took our baby car to the fix it shop again and maybe they will get it right this time...on putting the truck lid on with out angling it or shimming it. We are in a lease c
Five on the Run, Wild Horse Western Art Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 72 inches Oil on 3 inch deep Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for Your Home! SOLD This is the sketch in charcoal before I start painting. This is the beginnings...note my dog Paddy UNDER MY FEET. I literally have to dance and step around him to work at my big easel. I posted some on the way pictures today. I normally do not stop once I am painting but I had to in order to MOVE the dog out of the way! LOL He had a hurt paw yesterday and I kept him inside...his job is to protect me and stay velcroed to my side and he does that well! Today I begin my fall art classes for my students. I am still awaiting supplies to arrive today and I hope they get here BEFORE class and not during! My classes are not as full as normal but I did not advertise this summer because my large studio is not complete yet and in this small mini house it is difficult to mange a large group with art. My friend/adopted sis has a
Stampede 24 X 36 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Western Art SOLD The days are sliding by faster than I can count. This painting was finished on Friday. It is a large one and the photos of it are not the best, but in person it is pretty dynamic. Thick paint with a play on contrast and color as always. The background is a mixture of quinacridone Orange and Madder blended in different values. Enjoy! This move with my father in law is pretty dramatic when you think of changing your life after the same house for fifty years. I have discovered it is almost as tragic for my husband being left with the responsibility of doing this along side him and the looming absence of his younger brother to share in this closure and responsibility. Feelings dip and climb and his outlook on it all changes hourly as he faces so much seemingly alone. I am there in spirit and for Moral Support, but I am not a strong person physically to actually MOVE things. Altho with Stacey last Saturda
Out of the Night 24 X 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Good Saturday Morning. I do not know if I posted this painting or not, but here it is again if I did. I am in Dallas. Spent the night at my mom's house...Terry and I both did. His dad is doing fine. He should be released from the hospital this morning. Meanwhile Terry has much moving of stuff to do today. Me, I am waiting here at mom's for Jonathan's special delivery birthday present. Jonathan is our 10 year old grandson. He was born 10 years ago today. He should be coming over to swim at my mother's house this afternoon and tomorrow Terry and I are hosting his 10th birthday party in Justin where all his Justin friends can come and celebrate with him. Terry ordered him a DARTH MAUL double ended lightsaber from eBay. The awesome seller in Beverly Hills is overnighting the sword to my moms! He has been one of the most cooperative sellers on eBay! Peaceful interlude...hummm I always called it Plateau-ing
Energy of Three Three 18 x 27 inch canvas together creating 27 x 54 inches of color! Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD SOLD SOLD Saturday morning has not dawned yet, but I am up to do book work. I might try and paint a a bit if I get through it all, but we are Dallas bound to check on Terry's dad and take the dogs to the groomer. I worked on these three beauties last week and finished them up yesterday. Layers of impasto and color create another dynamic trio of energy. Amanda phoned from Wyoming and the Shooting Stars Gallery to share the news that another large painting sold for a future "Christmas Gift". That always means so much to me that paintings are gifts to be shared...that is how I view my art as one of those gifts and it is indeed an honor. On Thursday we were in Dallas to pick up art supplies at Asel Art and to check on Terry's Dad. Looks like a bit more surgery next week for a second stint. We took him to lunch and then we went to look at one of the s
FURY 8 x 10 x 2 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting a Day Egads...I am sunburned. I took the morning off and went swimming, rather floating, with my neighbor. I haven't take a break from the studio for something enjoyable like that in a LONG TIME. Well I am paying for it. I have the skin type that is winter white, but once I am in the sun I am a brown berry. Well, it has been years since I have been out floating around and I forgot to think about sunscreen because I figured I would only be there a short time. Well three hours later I raced home to handle stuff with the wreck and lawyers etc and didn't take the time to shower until after dinner. I am burned. White strap marks and all! It may be a rough weekend. This painting is another one of my smaller pieces, studies for larger paintings. I am taking watercolors on the trip. I have to really rethink my stuff because we may be flying. Still trying to figure that one out. Less stuff can come with me! I am he
Horsey Gossip 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Good morning! This is a delightful COLORFUL group of hoses I had fun painting the past two days. I thought I would take it to Wyoming, but ya know the paint is sooo thick it will not be dry to make the trip! So many personalities in this painting...hard to take them all in. Don't forget to stop in at EARTH WORKS ART GALLERY . Yesterday my high school girlfriend Barbie drove out from Dallas. She is in visiting from Salt Lake City. We took art together in junior high school...that is where we met! I think it was first period art with Mr Craig at Lake Highlands Jr High School. Wonder if he is still alive? I learned so much from him. We even did architecture and designed our own homes in 8th grade! I even used that lesson when I taught 8th grade art. ANY way, after a yummy dinner at the FABULOUS Ponder Steak house, we came back to the house and she began a painting. She claims she has not painted in her adult life

Always a symphony to paint with color and love and great music in the background. I was listening to ANTJE DUVEKOT. Click here. SHE is fabulous.... I do not know what original site I was on but it allowed you to listen to her music and songs before buying and I bought two CD"s of her and two of Ellis Paul. Actually I just checked on her site and you can listen to some of her songs...GO do it! ANNA is about her grandmother that has Alzeheimers. She talks on the CD about her grandmother and says she wrote the song about her grandmother, but her name was not ANNA, it was Gadda, but Gadda didn't rhyme so she had to use Anna,
Five White Stallions 27 X 54 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Click here to bid. SOLD Friday, today is my mothers birthday! We were in Dallas yesterday and took her out to lunch along with Terry for his birthday. We have been in and out so much we have clocked close to 650 miles this week. WHEW! This is a painting I finished last week, I may have already posted it, if I did I am sorry. I am taking a three day break from painting...much deserved. My show opens in New York tomorrow. Click here for the Gallery website . Click on Events and then follow the prompts. Terry and I were suppose to be there, but obviously did not make it following the wreck. Too painful to think of flying in a cramped American Eagle plane. Act in Faith and Trust in Father/God. Stay in movement with prayer and your needs will be answered, maybe not the way it seems you think they should be met, but the Lord will follow his plan. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! Grace, Laurie “We look not at what can be seen but at
TIGHT TURN Oil on Canvas 18 x 27 inches A Painting A Day Click here to bid! It is MONDAY shipping day. Terry is out in the garage, totally sprayed down with Organic Bug Spray with LOTS of citronella in it! HUMMM, smells good! We were up early this morning, I think it was five, and we enjoy the quiet together with good drink, he had hot coffee with Bailey's Irish creme and I had peppermint tea! We still have not had breakfast yet and it is nine a.m. I will be stirring something up in a few minutes...he is out making boxes!~ Texas heat has turned my painting time inside out!! But the painting above is soft and lively despite the outside temperatures. Painted from some photos I took last fall, this little girl is out for a romp. When I paint I want my horses to explode with action and color...for you to FEEL the energy coming from them through my painting! Grace to you all, Laurie “I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”—P

WILD VIBRATIONS 24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day CLICK here to bid. Sunday morning. Short note today. Painted this pretty girl yesterday, determined and a bit wild! There is an underlay of blue acrylic which cannot be seen peaking through anywhere because of the four layers of oil paint on top of it! A play of contrast with orange and blue, purple and yellow....follow the flow of the mane....oh I forgot there is impasto mixed into the edges over the blue acrylic layer but before the oil layers...hence there is a deep ridge carved out for the horse. Last night was spent in prayer for several hours before falling asleep. It does not surprise me this morning to take in hand my daily word and read the words AWAKEN at the top of the page. At Bible study on Friday night we shared talk over praying for direction to serve God as he needs us, not as we think we should serve, and to allow Him control, and not to control. Being quiet to listen to him is always the hardest thin
IN STRIDE 30 X 40 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Sometimes life is raw...sometimes painting is too. Raw can be filled with hurt, pain, or confusion. Raw might even give you power and if you let go, eventually give you grace. I don't think I can truly explain this painting other than that. Mother's Day was duly celebrated yesterday. Church with my youngest and lunch at my daughter's home. It was lovely. I miss the days of cheerios on a tray at six a.m. That was Morgan's favorite to fix me. The kids would get the old Coca cola tray and on it would be a colorful napkin and a flower Stacey picked ( mother's day is not mother's day with out flowers...ya know, I didn't even get one this year) a bowl of cheerios floating in milk, a glass of orange juice and toast that Justin had made, slightly untoasted, with gobs of strawberry jelly. The best memory is the Parakeet they bought me one year. Their dad had kept it at his office and the bird had gotten l
