It is so evident in paintings like this. The original painting contributing totally to the final painting and yet 180 degrees different. The wolves gained in strength as I resurfaced bold strokes of color with my knife and established a sense of movement in the air around them. Definitely would not want to meet these two in the woods at night.  What were you like as a child? What are you like as an adult?  Did you learn anything along the way?  Have you noticed th

I love sharing the progress so you see making mistakes or trying again is part of the artistic process for me. It was the little painting guy Bob Ross that said, "We don't make mistakes, just happy accidents."  My faith is strong when I have to step out of the box on these. It is terrifying, but the one thing I have is the spirit within that will not allow anxiety or fea

I sit here a day late with blogging because my IMAC decided it had enough after only two years in our relationship. My Mac Tower at age 10 keeps perking along slowly, never had a problem, but iMac commonly called in our household, BIG MAC is OOS.  OOS is out of service. Have you ever thought about taking yourself OOS for a day?  Unplugged and untouched by electronics and people? During your OOS begin the day in conversatio

This  painting  of Wolves traversing the snow in Canada reminds me of our own journey. There is a  hunger  that drives us. It used to be hunger to find something to eat, but now the hunger is power, toys, possessions, homes, cars.  What is your reality? What drives you each day? Is it the search for  happiness  and contentment? Is  happiness  conditional?  Can you be satisfied and find  happin

It is ALMOST done. If I change anything major I will share it again with the updates.  Wanted to share that the Bible Verse below  as it was a strong one for me this week.  Read it, drink it in, inhale it... and try it. Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. James 3:13 NIV

Before the sketch I would have normally put on an acrylic wash. For some reason I was eager to jump in and sketch and jumped ahead.  When I began pulling my colors for the woods I started with a grey blue color and then built out with quinacridone gold, Prussian blue, Carmel Browns and a tiny bit of Titanium white. Tomorrow the wolves will be painted.   I had hoped to have it done for this Sunday blog, but it will be a Monday Post.  #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart Laurie Pace A Texas Artist   Subscribe to my studio update newsletter. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This is the set up for my next wolf painting. I will post just one or two images of the progress and then the final.   Terry has just gone through his second corneal transplant.  My time is limited with the care required his first week or so from surgery.  We are hoping it goes as well this time as it did on his first eye. I does limit my presence in the studio as my time is spent keeping up the garden, the trees and the yard until he is back up and making it happen with watering, mowing, and tending to everything.  I get spoiled with his help and his cooking so I can paint and work on Visual Language Magazine.   So thankful for all we have. #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart Laurie Pace A Texas Artist   Subscribe to my studio update newsletter.
