The horses are more defined for space; the action is in the movement of line and counter lines playing angles against each other. Colors are always vivid. The Thought : Planning ahead. Is it the Great Race? In the remodeling of this house we definitely should have had a better plan and kept a better schedule. " 2 Timothy 2:1 The Painting: This is a second painting I was working on when Barbie was visiting. I finished it up yesterday. It began with a bottom layout in acrylic for value placement. From this point there are layers of oils piled on top using a wide brush. The Thought: Not sure of what it is, but I have been "down" for two days straight. Hopefully today will be better. Anytime I ate or drank water it felt like a tightening in my stomach, like an old fashioned tummy ache. Did not get to go visit our best friends in Mt Vernon yesterday...so I am a bit sad. It began with two soft layers of Indian Yellow with some dripping. Then the sketching out of the horse and the strength seem to spread across the composition before I realized it. It is one of those paintings it is hard to walk away from. The Thought : When we woke up this morning it felt good to have known I slept all night. It was such a small thing, but yesterday I was outside waiting for mom and the head construction crew man stopped to chat with me on the building next door. He was proud of his men and the job they were doing. I could not fault that in any way and complimented him on their ability to work together so s

The Thought: When I think of dogs many things goes through my head. They are a member of our family, they are always there giving love and companionship and they are protectors. When you are in their presence, they are there for you 100 percent. God is that way too. Old and corny I know, but GOD spelled backwards is dog. God is with you all the time. God is your protector all the time. Be secure in the knowledge that He has your front and your back sides at all times.

Deuteronomy 34:7 The Painting: I still have to finish up the eyes a bit...but I am almost finished. This is a good six layers of paint of more and three days of painting on and off. Even though it is small, it is well worked over. Staying with Acrylics for some reason, I am exploring the depth of what I can do with them. I think today I will play with watercolor layers and acrylic. The Thought: IT'S FRIDAY! Do you get energized on Friday or relaxed for the weekend? For our family it is the middle of the week because of Terry's Airline schedule and work. Our weekend is not until Mon/Tues. It seems for most 9-5 work people, or stay at home moms, there is a Friday sense of relief or anticipation of the weekend.

Job 2:11 The Painting: This is all acrylic. I started with a charcoal sketch of the horses and then I began to see shadows and colors. Cross Hatching the palette knife gave it a woven feeling and that is where I saw the flowers...wild flowers. The Thought: Almost late for the day for me...busy catching up on email... Reflecting on the bible verse above... and tying it into the painting is always a start for me. Where do you go or what do you seek when you are sad or in need? Sometimes a good walk will clear your head enough that you can get your brain back in balance. We all need comfort in our lives. I have mentioned our neighbors building a second story and two of the windows have a wonderful view STRAIGHT into our bedroom. I was assured that none of the kids would be in this area and not to worry. Well, there we were and there they were... staring in straight at us. This window they are seeing us through is a second story window in our home (Our bedroom has very high ceilings and our window is a lower window about 4 ft wide and 7 ft tall and above that a window about 4 ft wide and maybe 4 ft tall. Some of my "fill in" postings are from earlier years, but this one is a fresh new one and I only finished it last night. I Sold it today already. It is layers and layers of Acrylic overlays. Then a finish three layers of varnish to seal it. Unusual for me as the painting has a dark background, based in grays and blacks. Most likely very collectible because it is so different. Those 'things' are a sign to us of contentment and when in use we feel contented and safe. In comparison... what is joy? Those slippers are definitely contentment, a sign you have arrived home safe from the world, or warmth on a cold morning etc. But Joy, are those slippers joy to you? Pure joy exceeds the contentment of knowing everything is going reasonable well. As you and I both know, in a split second your world can be upside down. It began as a horizontal painting with three horses running at a slight angled. From there it pushed into a single horse, fired with flare and energy.
