Spring Hydrangea Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 30 inches Contact me to Purchase: Laurie I do believe we have had ten inches of rain since I blogged yesterday. I have been trying to call Terry as we have water coming in on the floor in the dining room. Has to do with the piled up dirt on the back porch that was jack hammered out for the gas repair two months ago. Not a priority for him and now water is coming in because it pooled up and cannot drain. Must be close to 20 inches high. The entire window sill is wet. I am choosing NOT to go out in the dark rain with a flashlight (We have no lights working remember) to shovel mud at five fortyfive in the morning. We tried to go to FEDEX late yesterday afternoon but the entire city was under water with many highways closed. Our visitors arrived in the midst of the torrential rains and we had no electricity at all anywhere. Normally we have 5% of the lights working and I can use lamps plugged into the walls, but our power was off
SPIRIT STARLIGHT Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 inches SOLD on Daily Painters. Thank you for Supporting Self Representing Artists. Rain is on the horizon and cooler air is pushing thru this morning. We are triple excited today because Jonathan is FINALLY coming to visit and our old neighbors from Justin TX are coming too. The family from Justin has three fabulous children that are all gifted in art and music. I had the pleasure of teaching them for close to 6 years. The youngest Victoria, is Jonathan's age and she taught him how to ride his bicycle and how to play when they were young. I cannot wait to hear Ashley play the piano. She is in her second semester at college. She was my assistant teacher in Justin for three years and so very gifted with her music and art. Brandon is next in the group and must be heading near fifteen. Very tall handsome young man that can pick up a guitar and jam with the best. He can draw circles around any student I have ever
MORNING ON THE RANGE Horse Art Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 inches SOLD on Daily Painters! THANK YOU!!! Contact me for pricing: Laurie Egads, not sure why I am up this early, perhaps because I didn't sleep well last night. After the last Charlie Horse in my leg I decided it was not my time to be asleep. Terry and I walked the dogs for over an hour yesterday! Add in all my standing at the easel and you have the recipe for Charlie Horses. That's a pun of course with my horse art...just horsing around. Today is filled beyond reason with everything I did not finish yesterday and I believe there is a chance we might see Jonathan our grandson today. On the agenda list, printing of posters, printing of 15 giclees, embellishing them, tubing them, boxing paintings for the The Red Tree Gallery and the Rain Bird Gallery, cleaning house for company tomorrow, grocery shopping and cleaning up the studio. Through in the window man coming to measure and give estimates on top
Caught in Spring Rains Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches SOLD Palm Sunday morning dawns before me as I blog this morning. It was a gorgeous day yesterday and I believe it will be one today as well. Terry and I walked the dogs two miles yesterday enjoying the gorgeous spring afternoon with temps around seventy and total beautiful sun with blue skies. I was worn out from painting for 10 hours by the time Terry got home from the airport at three thirty. We ran dinner up to Mom and Dad and then came back. My feet hurt so bad from painting and standing all morning, but I slipped out of my clogs and into my running shoes. We leashed the dogs and took off on our walk. We zigzagged the neighborhood avoiding the HUGE hills, only taking the mini huge hills. As we walked zigzagging it was obvious a runner was doing the same thing only at a faster pace and the opposite direction. We passed each other four times! It was a wonderful walk and we slid into home to have ri
SPIRIT RUN Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches SOLD on Daily Painters! Thanks for supporting Self Representing Artists! I HAVE LIGHT!!! The Lord is good, my husband was handy. Instead of the horrible track lighting that was there, he bought a huge shop light and will add two more in a few weeks. We bought the day time bulbs so it doesn't distort my colors in my work and presto, I have light! We also put together the tables in our living room. This is one of the few lights that works in the house, but I think you can see what we have done so far. (Thank you my dear friend for sending the tables!) "We cannot make something where nothing existed - whether it be a poem, a house, or a painting - without breathing life into it so that it may itself breathe." Elizabeth O'Conner I read this and realized how profound it is in every moment of our lives. We seem to get in a plateau in life that we just function with out thinking. I know you do that when you
Heated Moment Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches SOLD ON DAILY PAINTERS. THANKS Contact me to purchase. Laurie I am sitting in the dark. Now the lights in my studio are only working 50%. The entire desk area and where I paint is dark. The day has not started out on the best foot at all. I cannot do anything anywhere else in the house unless I carry a flashlight. Are there ANY electricians reading this blog? Terry's desk is lit up but I do not want to be on the PC today and none of my stuff is on it. Everything in this house is worn out. I am not far behind now. I have maintained hope with lights in this room where I need to work, but I guess I will finish this blog and go sit in the dark until the sun comes up. I would like to see my husband do his job in the dark. On the brighter side I did go visit my mom yesterday afternoon. She was dressed and with makeup and looking very pretty. We are praying her strength returns soon as she is still very ti
DOG Boy and Dog by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Oil on Canvas My Buddy and Me Series Contact me for commission work or pricing: Laurie I have five minutes. FIVE minutes to do this blog and hit the easel. Charlene sent me an article about NOT GETTING THINGS DONE... that was me again yesterday. It is the constant life interruptions that get me off track, from paying bills, to answering phones, to trying to get phone service with ATT and dump Time Warner. I have always said "If people would just do their jobs..." because after I spent 45 min on Monday lining up service on ATT, I had to redo it yesterday again because someone didn't finish the order. BUT the good side - bad side was, we cannot keep our phone number we just got and trying to learn another new number doesn't sit well with either Terry or I. We were able to get his dad's old number that he had for 50 years...so we both know the number. By March 26th I will be officially ATT. Good riddance to TWC and
Early Blooms Magnolia Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie Oh my gosh. It is Wednesday early, not quite six and I am up to paint immediately! I do have to pull some clothes together for donations being picked up today and put some old furniture out for additional donations. But I will wait till daylight. It is far from now with the DLS time. My mother is mending with the love of the Lord and her family at home. Thank you again for your prayers with her hospitalization. I am working on a commission pieces today for a horse ranch in Lufkin, Texas. It is a 3 ft by 4 ft painting of three of their favorite babies. AND then will sketch out a horse for a commission piece that will go live in Washington DC. After that work for the new gallery in Massachusetts, small pieces at least and hopefully to return to a portrait of a young girl that has been pending since the fall. Every day I come in this studio hoping to catch up, but hav
KOI by Laurie Justus Pace Canvas is 18 x 36 inches and it is framed in a gorgeous dark blue edged in gold. Needs a home! Contact me to Purchase: Laurie These are my Koi that were in my own private collection. I need to sell them because I have not place to hang them in our new house. I had them in my entry hall but they are not a large enough piece for the entry hall. This painting took honors in several art shows and was a headliner in my New York Show last year. The paint is close to 1/2 inch thick in many places. It is done in restful colors of greens and blues contrasted with the koi's gold and white. The custom frame by the Dutch Art Gallery was close to $200. Email me if you like them and shoot me a fair offer. Click here to email me. "I've Got Your Back." Those were the words out of my husbands mouth as we fell asleep last night pushed up against each other back to back, cold toes to cold toes. As I drifted into preslumber the words echoed in my mind.
Grazing Longhorn Longhorn Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me for details: Laurie My eyelids are propped open with toothpicks. Sleep deprivation is not my friend. Between the harsh rains, my hubby jumping in and out of bed and my dad up and down, it did not provide much time to sleep. This is a short blog. My Mom is having tests this morning and we are scrambling to care for Dad, the dog at his house and getting ready for shipping. My brother Bill picked up my dad to take him to the hospital. I will join them after Time Warner Cable finished repairs this morning for my slow lines, broken phones and not working TV cable. Not working cable, not working phones, not working lights in my house, not working eyes... hummm, that brings me into lines of thoughts of NEVERTHELESS God will provide. He always does. Despite our grief and pressured situations, God prevails. Nevertheless, he always comes through with the change that shall be. Grace, Laurie “But
Cat and Horse My Buddy and Me Series LARGE Format by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD ON DAILY PAINTERS! Thank you for supporting the arts. Daylight Saving definitely was not God's plan for us or he would have adjusted the day and night. I asked Terry this morning what states did NOT do it because I wanted to move there. I can't buy into the thought that this saves energy. We are only on real time four months out of the year. Why doesn't Congress just outvote the Lord and his creation and make DLS permanent? I truly dislike DLS. Last night as Terry and I were trying to go to sleep by nine thirty old time/ten thirty new time, the phone rang. Often the phone rings in the middle of the night and it is a collect call from an inmate at the Dallas County Jail and always that is disturbing as I refuse the call hoping it is NOT one of my children or a relative in jail. BUT, it was our CPA out in California calling to go over our return. Here it is Sat nigh
PIGGING OUT Farm Animals Pig Art by Laurie Justus Pace 15 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie My deep reflection certainly DOES not match the painting I have posted. This was painted last week on Thursday as my world began to shift and change. When my father arrived he was quite taken by my piggies and every time he sits here in the studio with me watching TV, his eyes drift over to the pigs on the wall and he begins to chuckle telling me what a fine painting of pigs I have done. Yesterday morning I fed him breakfast at Terry's second desk overlooking the TV close up and personal. He was involved watching the local news as they spun cameras around at over 800 wrecks in the icy snow. (yes this is Dallas and it is March) He would shake his head and tell me that he gave up driving a few years back and Mom does all the driving now. I heard that sentence about eight times and then he expounded his thoughts. "Some things change and you need to chan
