Call of Morning ~ Equine Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 x 2 inches Oil on Deep Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for your Home I am sitting here Monday morning, early... it is five a.m. I jumped out of bed to get the dogs out and feed before the storm hits in the next thirty minutes...thought to get my blog out too. I will then shut it all down and either crawl back into bed or start painting. I added a place in the top right corner of my blog that you can sign up with your email and be contacted with my postings. Terry finished all the boxing last night YEAH! Nothing like getting the work out of the way quickly! Morgan and Hillary were over yesterday to paint. He posted a new nude and some gerbera daisies and later this week a fantastic nude will go up for sale on ebay. He is unemployed right now and painting. Have you ever come across DETOUR signs when you were out on errands? It is not too bad if you are in familiar territory and you grumbled a bit about going ou
NIGHT POWER 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Not quite finished but I wanted to post it! I told you several mornings ago I had a vision of wolves just before I woke. I even addressed visions yesterday in my blog. The painting is ALMOST done. I know by posting this it will prompt a wolf painting from an artist that seems to follow and duplicate my subjects in a competitive manner...my husband has a bet on that at least! As I have always written, art should come from the spirit with in, not necessarily a "planned" event or competition. These animals have distinct personalities that almost frighten me when I am staring at it or working on it. I rarely RARELY paint wolves, but again a vision led this painting to be. In the vision it was three wolves, but in the painting it evolved to THREE EYES. That alone seem to be enough to quietly affect the viewer into slight hesitation to approach the composition. The fur seems full and textured that you might want to b
STARE 11 x 14 inches Oil on Panel A Painting a Day SOLD on Daily Painters Again from our trip... a painting from the road! The deer were abundant in Colorado! Thick paint and a fast brush tooled this composition out. Have been up since five. We had to drive the car to south west FT Worth to the auto body shop that didn't fix it right and meet with the insurance company and the shop to remedy what was not addressed. They will do the work next week. Everyone seems to be on vacation. BUT we are home now and I will be painting in the studio this morning...rather frantically I am afraid. Time to crank the music, meditate, pray and then let the spirit take over. The economy seems to be rather shaky right now. Not sure that art will be selling well over the next year. The Mortgage industry is failing and when it goes into a dive that affects the real estate market and the building market. All three of our children are in this stuff, Justin is with Nationstar Mortgage, Stacey with D
AUGUST HEAT 30 x 30 inches Oil/Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD T'is early this morning, not even five a.m. Terry was snoring soundly as I crept out of the bedroom in to work. This vacation stuff is hard, I want to paint, but we are always on the go. August Heat was painted just before we left the first of August for Wyoming. It is an acrylic base built with impasto and thick paint and then covered with a layer of oil and accents of oil in colors. Unusual today, but I will post the enter www.dailyword.com for today. This is for Richard in Florida as well as Terry and I as we face indecision over our move or build situation. Daily Word — Wednesday, August 15, 2007 Divine Order Divine order is unfolding in my life right now. Some trees begin to grow with a spindly, lopsided appearance. Yet a wise gardener knows that in time, those scraggly branches will become full, feathery fronds of graceful and intricate symmetry. Nature offers cou
A Group of Three 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Almost two weeks ago, before we left on our trip, I hung this painting in the studio knowing I was not through with it and not sure what energy had transpired. When we returned this week and I saw it, I knew it was complete. So often in life relationships come and go...some people that come into your life are solid and stay through everything, while others come and go and some never return. In this painting the two front horses represent the calm stayed relationship. In the background hovers a third horse, rather unsure of the balance of energy, and not representing the three in one energy. The composition lends it self upside down to the power of the triangle but the actual horses do not in their relationship. This is simply the pondering of the artist. Often when I paint I do not know the why of what evolves. So I present to you "A GROUP OF THREE". Through this I celebrate divine nature! Last night wh
TRUE COLORS 24 X 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD EARLY on Saturday....it is almost five. I was hot and woke up deciding to come into the studio and work. I will paint for the first time in 10 days! This piece was done before we left, and I am posting probably for the second time, but hopefully once I am churning today there will be new ones! This is painted with the palette knife and thick paint of many colors. Where did all this heat come from? Triple digit temps are pretty harsh. August is not going to be pretty is it. We are struggling to keep trees alive. Caring for the beauty God provided is important, and it is not just the world around us, but ourselves. We water our trees and our grass, but are we watering and caring for ourselves as he would want us to do? When was the last time you sat in silence and listened to God? Or, when was the last time you watered some one else with love and tenderness? Grace, Laurie “God saw everything that he had made, and indeed,
SUMMER RUN Oil on Canvas 30 x 30 inches A Painting a Day Click here to bid. SOLD Back in the saddle!~ Today I will be answering emails and revamping my schedule. I have several commission pieces to get out that are dry and several to begin as well. This horse was painted just before we left on vacation. He is nice and dry now and ready for a home. If you are interested click the link above and visit my auction on eBay. I felt so bad letting the Daily Painters down last week. I usually post 6 out of 7 days, and I think I was only able to post three days with the travel into the mountains and limited internet access. Lunch today with my neighborhood women and I get to catch up on everyone's lives. I am not keen on the "WHERE" in town, but I can eat later! I may think about doing a website for the women so we can keep up with each other and prayer needs etc. More to come and after nine hours of sleep I am ready to face the day. I want you to know that this day is full o
LAZY DAYS OF SUMMER 16 x 16 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Not really sure about the expression on this cow...she is different! but I had fun painting her. Wide brush and different color palette for me too. Saturday. PAINT PAINT PAINT and pack pack pack. Never do seem to catch up. The first cut of the book for Wyoming arrived yesterday. I went ahead and ordered some for the show and had to pay extra to get them shipped on time. That wreck really delayed so much of what I needed to get done for this summer. Visit LULU to see the book. Click Here . It is only $18.99 and has both photography from Amanda Smith and artwork from me. Be energized by the power of the Lord...let His beauty shine through you to others. Shalom, Laurie “He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.”—Psalm 147:3
Horsey Gossip 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Good morning! This is a delightful COLORFUL group of hoses I had fun painting the past two days. I thought I would take it to Wyoming, but ya know the paint is sooo thick it will not be dry to make the trip! So many personalities in this painting...hard to take them all in. Don't forget to stop in at EARTH WORKS ART GALLERY . Yesterday my high school girlfriend Barbie drove out from Dallas. She is in visiting from Salt Lake City. We took art together in junior high school...that is where we met! I think it was first period art with Mr Craig at Lake Highlands Jr High School. Wonder if he is still alive? I learned so much from him. We even did architecture and designed our own homes in 8th grade! I even used that lesson when I taught 8th grade art. ANY way, after a yummy dinner at the FABULOUS Ponder Steak house, we came back to the house and she began a painting. She claims she has not painted in her adult life
THE RETURN OF THE PAINTED PONY 30 x 40 inches THICK RICH Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD GROAN. Break is over. Work is at hand. Terry is back at work and I will hit it hard today. This is a painting I finished on Monday night to list on eBay. Click here to bid. I have not done a painted pony horizon pull in almost two months, so you have the return. Always a symphony to paint with color and love and great music in the background. I was listening to ANTJE DUVEKOT. Click here. SHE is fabulous.... I do not know what original site I was on but it allowed you to listen to her music and songs before buying and I bought two CD"s of her and two of Ellis Paul. Actually I just checked on her site and you can listen to some of her songs...GO do it! ANNA is about her grandmother that has Alzeheimers. She talks on the CD about her grandmother and says she wrote the song about her grandmother, but her name was not ANNA, it was Gadda, but Gadda didn't rhyme so she had to use Anna,
MOOING into Summer 18 x 18 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting A Day SOLD CONTACT ME for a similar commission piece! Tuesday brings my MOOOving into Summer to the blog. She was painted on Sunday! I rarely do cows, they are better done by Diane Whitehead . But with my summer series of COLORS OF SUMMER, I had to have one! Back to our GP today and hopefully Terry can return to work soon. PT starts in about a week. My hand is doing a bit better as I can type and hope to return to painting full time this next week. Between my neck and hand, it has slowed me down considerably, enough that I will not be shipping as many completed pieces to NY. With faith filled enthusiasm accept God's plan and good for your life. Chicago Bound Texas Longhorn 24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD COMMISSION WORK I just finished this commission piece for a Texan now living in Chicago. Can you guess they went to UT? This was a peaceful painting for me as I am beginning to get back into my grove of painting. My right hand is still sore but much more functional than it was. This is one of my pull paintings as I pull color through the surface of the canvas using impasto mixed with the oil...then the longhorn emerges! The paint is again close to 1/4 inch in some places! Today is my MRI. OPEN MRI, but the man said it would still be noisy...I am not smiling as I woke with a migrane today. We cannot eat either...having blood drawn in an hour so I can't have a cup of hot peppermint tea. More later...meanwhile be a good steward today...care for all God has given you, the people in your life, your home, the animals....God gives so much to us, every single second...remember to give thanks! Grace, Laurie
TEXAS MISSION TWO 22 x 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Click here to bid. Aching muscles. Should not have worked in the flower bed yesterday. UGH. BUT I will paint... well maybe. Might sit to paint. This is my second Mission painting for Texas. I thought I had posted it already but did not see it when I looked back...if I did, enjoy it a second time! Gorgeous violets, blues contrasting with yellow and creams... My cousin left today to return to Boise Idaho. I don't think he liked the Texas weather and our bugs. He wanted to return to his mountains. Today I will be cleaning up the aftermath of a guest in the house, but remembering some of the fun moments of the visit. My cousin was deep into astrology and the planets controlling his life. I listened patiently as he often spoke of the planets controlling his future and his past and how different planets pass into different houses in his layout of life. For me it is easier! My Father created this world and it is His p
ON THE ROAD RED Horses 18 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas contact me for information Laurie Pace GOOD MORNING...and Brrr... did I say Brrr?? It is cold outside in north Texas. The kids are all out of school and my piano student is coming early today for her lesson and then I hope to paint in the studio. I am working on some Koi and Sunflowers that are both half way done. Nadine received two of her three commission pieces yesterday and is waiting for one more to arrive. I may post these pieces later next week so you can see them. She has been a constant delight to work with and a treasure to get to know. I hope the horses bring joy to her life and her home! I love painting for folks and allowing energy to flow through to the canvas thinking of that person and where the painting is going to live! The painting I have posted is another horizon horse piece with the crimson red background. Nadine bought my original of this approach, my first red background piece that had five horses in it!
Spring Love Horses 24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day What a gorgeous day yesterday~ a perfect Palm Sunday! I didn't do much painting with church and family, but am posting one I finished during the week last week that will be on auction later this week on eBay. (Unless you want to buy it now!) A playful approach to color and contrast to bring in thoughts of spring and the beginnings of a new love! My grandson Jonathan was over yesterday. He brought his bike and enjoyed the safety of our little town to ride around in. He is so much fun to be around. He could not wait for his BAMPA to arrive home from the airport to play with him. They were inseparable from the time Jon was 18 months old until his mother regained custody of him last year. It has been a rough emotional year for us as she has limited our visitation out of her need to control with no thought to Jonathan. He does not understand why he cannot see us or be here. He is still waiting one year later for us
MORNING HAZE ON THE HORIZON ~ Horses 18 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting A Day SOLD It is late on Saturday Afternoon. Just got Morgan off and heading home after we all enjoyed prime rib, new potatoes mashed, organically grown corn, and a fresh salad...all organic. We are pretty strict on that! Terry, Morgan and I took Paddy, our male Kerry Blue Terrier to the FT WORTH Dog Show today to see if he is show quality...which we found in disappointment he is not. He will be 'Fixed" in May....he definitely wigged out around all the dogs, but the handler was ABSOLUTELY great with him. We were more than impressed. I felt like a mom taking my child to school the first day and they sent him home! Painting this morning I started two different horses, but this one I posted I finished last week...one of my colorful horses on the horizon. I love these colors....that is why the name for the painting! It would hang nicely in our room. Have to close quickly...gotta clean the kitchen an
Spring Play 24 X 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day $699 Well, it is afternoon now. I was up painting away when my phone rang at 6:30 a.m. Youngest son called to tell me he was sitting on his floor wet. He had fallen in the shower and thought he broke his leg. I couldn't do anything, I live over an hour away and in morning traffic almost two hours away. Back to painting. Finished this one this morning as I get into mood for my Horse Play Series. This is Spring Play. THICK paint with a palette knife! GLORIOUS colors! Grace, Laurie "As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." 1 Peter 4:10
HORSE PLAY T2 Oil on Canvas 4 x 6 inches A Painting a Day SOLD Good morning. Short note today. IT IS MAC LESSON DAY! YEAH...but they only give me an hour. I have my list prepared for the genius behind the bar...they work with you one on one or you can take classes...as many as you want for only $99 a year....Terry and I will definitely get our money worth. Terry is packing paintings while I am printing shipping labels. We are late a day in shipping because of his flight on the B17. It was fascinating to watch from the ground...he was up almost 40 minutes though and took some great video. I became ill watching the video...ya know how the camera is bouncing and rolling??? AND when he would have to let go of the camera to hang on as the plane would drop and bank and tilt....well, the camera would go wildly loose out of his hands swinging on the neck rope.... I thought I would never get by the rolling stomach yesterday and that was from watching the movie he shot. Don't think I will
HEATED PONY Wild Horse 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Why the heated pony? Well, my hubby came in and gesso the canvas for me...FIRST TIME, I might add. He was so cute and so capable. I will have to enlist his help again. As I approached the dried gesso and realized the talent with in as he had added impasto to it as well, the surface carried a thick sculpted look to it. The energy vibrating off was magnificent. (I had asked his help because of my pulled neck.) He stood there with my largest palette knife in his hand and had gesso and impasto from his finger tips to his elbows. I was working on another piece, but turned to see what I envisioned on the canvas. I began to attack it thinking of just large ponies but that was not to be...the ponies emerged and I shot some pictures, just to go back and add about two more layers of paint. Then I took more pictures. Still unsatisfied, I went back and began to scrap parts of the canvas ...geez there was a lot of paint there
