When do we come 'alive' and an active part of His working plan? www.ellepace.blogspot.com I believe you can be old and still be like this bud.... ready to burst into bloom.   I believe that we can be a rose bush and grow thickly and never put out a bud to bloom until late in life. Everyday we seek His counsel and go about our lives and many of us never begin to bloom in life. We are so busy growing and putting vines out in every direction never stopping to bloom.  We all have what we need to bl

Journey, Horse Painting by A Texas Artist Laurie Pace

JOURNEY Horse Painting by A Texas Artist Laurie Pace This is indeed a journey. This is blog number 2000 I think.  2000 days of blogging. That may indicate a need for a give away painting this week. It is also referred to as  tactile learning . People with a kinesthetic learning style are also commonly known as  do-ers . I come from a teaching background and this word has been apart of me a long time. Every student has a different learning style. While they may all overlap, they are still distinctive to them.  As Terry always says..

This process can open up your heart to find more love surrounding you. When we allow anger and issues to compile over time, they squeeze shut our hearts and we become cold inside.  Forgiving rarely means forgetting. We are too human for that. Does God forgive and forget? It is reasonable to feel hurt and angry over memories because they fester over time. Without forgiving they will never heal. If you can forgive, the wounds will eventually heal and only a scar will remain. Over time even that scar will fade. When you are ready to forgive, you are ready to ACCEPT t

Horse Painting Progress YOU RAISE ME UP by A Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Progression on Your Raise Me Up Slowly but surely... The next layers of paint form up a strong horse in this equine art painting by A Texas Artist Laurie Pace        ©Laurie Pace    Graphics One Design 1998-2011   Contact me for your own commissioned painting: Laurie      Growing Pains Many people do not follow God. Is it commitment issues? Are they worried that God will expect more of them than they can give? Roses and flowers He created for our joy. God does ask for obedience. Why? Obedience actually frees you from responsibilities to enjoy His blessings. His blessings include peace, joy, and a fulfilled life. His blessings are seen in the world around us in His creative powers and in those that follow Him. He does not always answer those desperate last minute pleas when you need something fixed.  He does more than rigging short term fixes.  He wants to 'grow you' into His grace and love so that you can find His simple abundance.

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website   Painted Ponies       I thought I was getting up early this morning and would start proofing the 90 page book for the ArtistsofTexas.org Second Annual Art Show.  BUT, as I pulled open this blog to blog I faced a new picture load that didn't make me smile and took forever to get to work correctly.  If things are not broke do not fix them. Not sure why BLOG had to do this. I imagine that might be one of God's favorite mantras.   Here on earth we are all little 'tinkers'.  We 'tinker' with this and we 'tinker' with that and we end up deeper in the 'tink' pile with very complicated lives. With the passing of Terry's Dad, so much has surfaced in our lives with memories and photos and books....I am hoping Terry is inspired to let go of so much of his stuff he

I realized late last night my blog did not post yesterday. It did, but it did late.   If you missed it, scroll down because the new painting is one of my favorites! New style and new approach. Yesterday when I worked on this one, I had another one on the second easel.   I worked on it too. Yesterday was an 18 hour paint day.  I am tired still this morning.  The second canvas was scrapped twice.  My record is three times, but I have a ton of paint scrapped off that must go into other paintings.  I do not waste paint ever.  Some of my best pieces are from scrapped paint. I can only hear God chuckling over that one. Some of His best ma

See what being retired does?  Better Late than Never...here is the blog I wrote early this morning. I posted it to publish at seven a.m. but on the wrong day. I am up and preparing for a major paint day today.  I am working on pieces for the Colorado Gallery.  My canvas shipment arrived late Thursday, but I wanted to play a bit yesterday and that I did.  Painting for fun is always very expressive and I usually like what comes out.... and that was Summer Pony above.  It is a new technique on canvas that I am exploring, and I hope you enjoy viewing as much as I enjoyed painting it. We went fishing yesterday morning.   We were on a pier next door to ou

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  You can see in my hand a small sheet of paper.   It contains the page torn out of my sketch book with a presketch on it always done before I begin a painting. This is my new studio area with lots of windows and light.  Not a bedroom, but a true painting area, just not as big as I had in Dallas. The Thought: Most of yesterday was painting!  And recovering from doing all the grass.  Terry and I have been watching at night "East of Eden" (1971 version).  We have only seen the first of the mini series but I am hooked so far.  It is based on Cain and Abel from the bible.   I thought when we started watching it, it was an all in one movie and I would see the whole thing... it was when it ended abruptly Terry told me it was a mini-series.    I do not want to spill the movie to you, but if you have not seen it, ren

No sailing yesterday and maybe not today. Have to see.  Today is shipping day for work going out.  I have books going to the UK, a painting to the UK, pieces to Canada, China, New York, Georgia, Louisiana, and Missouri.   My three books arrived for my commission work from LULU and they are beautiful.  For those of you that do not know, for my larger commission paintings I put together a beautiful hard back book of the painting from sketches to finish.  They arrive here from LULU, I sign them and they either

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This was unusual as it painted out but I fell in love with it! Email me if it tugs at your heart and mention the name of the painting. The Thought:  Purple Barns.  We saw two purple barns on the way back from Bonham yesterday.  We drove one route up to Bonham through Commerce and Bailey but there as so much road construction we came home through Paris and Bogata.  Made much better time that way (altho mileage was longer) the roads were wonderful and very little traffic. On the way home is when I spotted the purple barns.  I truly have never seen anyone paint a barn purple before... a dark lavender purple, like the sky is at night. The ends of the barns were light forest green.  Had there been black and white cows I would have stopped to take a picture...but we were going about 70

Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This just was finished two days ago and is in Dallas at the Dutch Art Gallery being framed for the collector.   The Thought: As I reflect on yesterday and the long trip into Dallas and our over-stuffed day... I get tired thinking about it and I have had some sleep last night. More travel in the next few days as well... What did I learn yesterday? That another family must have died in a wreck on I30 traveling east into Dallas. There were five new white crosses with names and flowers on the right side of the road going into Sulphur Springs.   Terry and I prayed together as we saw the new crosses and I could only read one name as we whizzed by at 65...it was a little boys name on the cross.  This accident wiped out an entire family. Made us stop and think how this custom has grown

Terry laughs when I do these as I patiently build layers and layers of paint. The Thought:  Yes, I used the Pace Dumpster yesterday...twice. Should have used it more! We went into town late yesterday for the 100 year celebration and saw one of those fabulous gun fights by the TEXAS PISTOLAROS.  They start out by teaching Gun Safety and they were swearing in their deputies that were assigned the job to keep the people watching the show in line. Awesome....just like being in Jackson Hole at 5:30 pm when every night in the summer there is a showdown at sunset.  I took some great shots last night in Mt Vernon that probably will become paintings. Makes me wonder how God does it with out Deputies to keep us all in line.  If you were given that commitm

Sunset Herd Equine Oil Abstract Horse ART Daily Painting by Texas Artist Laurie pace

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This baby will go to live in Missouri...my home state, also known as the 'Show Me' State. The Thought: Last night Terry and I were sitting outside on the swing about 8:30 p.m.  That is when the symphony of frogs begins each night and Paddy the dog begins to freak out.   I noticed last night that the Old Bull Frog starts the evening out with a few low croaks.  Then the older frogs all begin their part in the music. This lasts about five minutes and they get totally quiet and the tiny frogs begin their chirping.  This continues in repetition for the entire night.  After those baby frogs sing... total silence. Then Old Bull Frog croaks three times and immediately the old frogs begin to sing...and lastly the tiny frogs. Such magnificence is from the Almighty and only He is the creator of this chorus.

'Spirit Sun Dance Two' 10 x 10  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: I revisited Spirit Sun Dance with more vivid colors. The Thought: Today is our anniversary.   We prayed together already this morning and will do our morning walk as soon as I am done blogging.   I don't think we will go out to dinner tonight but will wait until we can sneak off together to celebrate this special day. When it comes to getting married and staying married you need God in the center of the relationship.  Then lots of faith, hope, love and respect. God's vision for marriage requires us to be centered in Him and to accept and recognize that we are nothing without Him and when we enter into a relationship, it is to accept each other as we are made, as He made us.  Maybe those vows should be altered a bit,  "Will you accept me as I am and not as you want me to be."   We learn t

As we are in the midst of packing and moving you will have some paintings of old.  The Thought: I am late blogging this morning due to exhaustion.  We were busy yesterday helping Justin and Tara with their move to their new home south of Arlington.  They have a beautiful new house to fill with their love and dreams and we were happy to be apart of that start up you might say.  We literally didn't eat all day yesterday until seven thirty last night; I don't want to do that again. By this late in the morning sleeping in, I almost feel more tired than if I was up early doing.  I will probably feel 'behind' all day.  Even though this Blog will go up two hours late hopefully that does not mean my day will run two hours late all day.  I will miss every appointment I have

Hope to mop the floors.  It almost sounds empty in here.. weird.  I found this prepainted canvas with wonderful mauves, blues and pinks like you see in the sky at sunset as the sun departs the sky and the moon wanes overhead between the sunset clouds.... peaking out early.  We saw those last night on the way home from eating hamburgers...   So as I painted on my newly cleared off table... this came to the top with soft colors showing well used muscles of an ancient horse from my dreams.  He is gorgeous
