It is something that ranks at the top of our list.  So is love a feeling that can be controlled?  I am thinking it is a feeling that is responded to. If you love someone that love is unconditional and not con

Last Saturday we went from 74 degrees at noon to 19 that night... the temp from 12 to 2 went from the 74 to 41 and kept falling from there.  This has been the first cold snap and I pulled out my FAVORITE winter hat Terry bought me last year and I wore it and wore and wore it and had warm head and ears. It looked pretty good as well. He found it at Whole Foods last year.  They do not carry them this year... I lost my winter hat yesterday m

Snow had fallen during the night. It covered everything as far as he could see.” ― Ezra Jack Keats, The Snowy Day It is the fourth Sunday in Advent. In one week it will be Christmas.  Today we will light three purple candles and our Pink Candle. This new candle represents PEACE.  Our current life here in the USA is anything but safe and sane after the last year. Never in my life have I witnessed family members turning against each other as well as life long friends.  People just seem to hurt other people. The world and the United

In years past there has always been the traditional family Christmas Portrait.  We did a serious one and then a funny one.  This is not the serious one.  As the years flew by and we all grew older, things changed and people changed and some journey on to heaven.  My father is not with us any longer nor is one of the mom's and Terry's Dad. Some have married and have babies and families of their own. The family grew and basically outgrew having Chri

In the eyes of children, they are all thirty feet tall.”  ― Larry Wilde    I have moved so many times in my life... and memories abound from all the homes, the friends, and always the Christmas Tree.  This was our tree in Ft Thomas KY and we lived in an old home with a basement and three floors above it.  All the bedrooms on the second floor and only one bathroom.  With five of us it was a challenge. The place changes, the size of the tree changes but the ornaments are always the same.... They have seen the years. Even here at this house I am hangin

But it can be shared” ― Cecelia Ahern, The Gift This painting was a commissioned piece done in November of 2012 for a Christmas gift ordered by a collector in the UK.  The horse was in the tones of her sweet boy and she lives out away from people where she likes to ride on Christmas morning.  She had a memory of a  past snowy Christmas morning and that is what she wanted painted to remind her of those feelings.   Our memories are but 'times' in our life.  Time cannot be

It is unique to humans, but I cannot help but wonder if it does not also extend to dogs and cats somehow...or even horses.  For humans the earliest memories are sparse and most people have no memory prior to age 3, but some o

Bernard Manning This was the title and theme of my December newsletter. I had an immediately email from  Dawn Waters Baker , a fellow Texas painter that said, "I know it's crazy at Christmas but this was a nice reminder how God has us. May you have a lovely Christmas Laurie. Thank you for serving others in any way God leads you. Bless you and may your days be filled with songs!"   It made me look.  It made me look at what I had written because I truly did not remember how &#
