You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living." I tried researching who said this and if you know let me know so I can credit them.  One of my high school friends posted this on Facebook and I loved it. Are you ready to do this?  Hard to do it with your immediate family...even adult children, but I believe we have to do it to survive and live the way God intends for us to live.  After spending two days w

We did not sleep well on the guest mattress at Stacey's house and had to find another. Rising with a harsh backache I knew another bed had to be bought. Terry affirmed the need for a new bed as well, so by 8:15 we were out and on our way to Grapevine.  Bampa and Lady L heading into Target An affirmation is a declaration of a fact. We both affirmed it had to be replaced. Affirmations can be powerfully used daily in our lives. Stating out loud to just yourself or to the world, gives credibility and believability to your words. The Affirmation of Faith I learned as a child is with me through out my day every single day.  At the mattress place, Mattress Giant in Southlake, Penny helpe

We were back at the doc for his stitches to come out of his wrist. He developed a minor infection in the incision, so we still have some healing to go. Terry was saying OPPRESSIVE for the heat. As we left the doctors office it was already 107 and only noon.  When I called our housesitter Carol to check in on the dogs, she said it was already 110 in Mt Vernon. That means it will be 116 at least this afternoon for the third day in a row. I spoke with Vicki Fletcher (Sheriffs wife) and she was very down trying to keep up with her cows and horses.  Hay this summer will run over $10,000 to feed her animals and there is NO GRASS for the fall and winter.   One of her babies born about two months ago was rejected by the mother cow. Vicki has been bottle f

Well is was 116 degrees outside yesterday. How do you get energized to do anything? I started out early scrubbing our bathroom, cleaning out drawers and cabinets and washing rugs. I proceeded on to our bedroom to dust and sweep but I was wearing out fast.  Terry jumped in the fray and we cleaned all the leather furniture in the den and he did the floors while I dusted and did the glass. Today I will face the kitchen! I am not sure we were ever 'energized' but we had to do it. Including changing bedsheets and washing the mattress pad and both the winter and summer quilts. Normally I send them north to NY where I bought them and they launder them an

Your body is a sacred gift... your physical body. The design of the human body is incredible. It is a complex chemical and electrical process in motion... a pure miracle.  God created this body. God created your body. Appearance is nothing compared to divine perfection.  I have lectured my adult kids on weight and taking care of themselves. I had to set the example this year and continue to try to lose a bit more. I was never heavy but I was heavier than I needed to be.  My clothes did not fit.  I was not taking care of the body God gave me.  Food choices and lack of exercise did their damage over the past eight years.  I had gained 25-30 pounds.  I was too thin when the weight gain started but I went soaring past the healthy weights... and I literally craved carbs,

I look back often on memories of my mother's mother, my Nonnie.  She lived part of her year in Dallas with our family and then the rest of the year with my aunt and her family in St Louis, which was Nonnie's home. I learned so much from my grandmother and if she had not given of herself to spend part of her life with us in Dallas, I would have missed out on many things in my life that I have used and loved.  S

We saw my mom and dad and our daughter, son-in-law and our precious grand-daughter Lady L.  We drove home early afternoon yesterday and were busy remembering so many precious moments with Lady L. Every morning when she wakes she is so excited about the day... she is two and a half years old.  She wakes with out worries or fears...just happy to be awake and cannot wait to see another face smiling at her.  She throws herself into her day looking for joy in everything. She loves sharing her toys with us and playing. She and her 'Bampa' did a lot of that today. I watched her carefree movements and marbled at the beauty of being so child like in innocence... which is where we need to be as adults with God.  TRUSTING so easily and not worry about

I have been drinking it for a week now.   It is not the high in fiber drink but the high in protein drink.  24 grams in one shake. Unfortunately I cannot drink a whole shake...so I am only in taking 12-14 grams.  I mix up about one scoop with a banana and some fresh blueberries.  I put in my tablespoon of my Carlson Lemon Fish Oil (NO taste or aftertaste or burping) and my two drops of Carlson Vit D and I am set. Really, who are you?  Think about it for a few moments. If you were going to guess how people view you, who are you?  Our view of our self is NOT what others actually see.  What do they see? You are a pure reflection of your thoughts. They actually affect your facial expressions, your mannerisms and your speech. So who are you?   You are a product of your thinking... describe yourself by describing how you think.     "I am a rose colored glasses person. Negativity is not my way."   Hey wait I say it is not there, BUT it is there.  WHY?  Because I have negative thoughts through out the day.  I worry and I think of things that I should not dwell on. Even though I do not describe myself that way... that is how people see me if they are aroun

The more I thought about it the more I realized we all are intense wool gathers.  As we try so hard in life to make things work our way...our way is the wooly way. It is what we have gathering up in our brain to be the way things should be. You can find the definition as: Indulgence in idle fancies and in daydreaming; absentmindedness. Laura's book was anything but that, and I did not put it down until I finished the last page.  But the term woolgathering stayed with me as I reflected on it.  Then I had picked up my Bible and was reading Joshua today...
