Through the Fall Foliage Equine Art Painted Pony Pull Horizon Horses Oil Painting by Texas Contemporary Artist Laurie Pace

'Through the Fall Foliage' 24 x 36  Oil on Canvas A Rare Treat... one of my horizon Painted Pony Pulls. I have limited the number I paint every year to keep them more collectible. Other artists attempt to imitate the approach,  but if you ever seen one of mine in  person you realize there is no comparison in the technique and the paints.  This is a developed style that I have worked on since 2006. Read more about it on my website, the History of the Painted Pony . Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     It was a rough night.  I was sound asleep when Terry woke me at three to see if I felt all right.  I told him I did feel all right when I was asleep... why was he waking me up?  He said he didn't feel good and was worried he had made us sick from something he cooked from dinner.  That woke me up.  Then he proceeded to allow several subjects of squirrels loose into

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     Well, I did paint yesterday... I just didn't shoot tight pictures and the painting is too wet to try and shoot until maybe tomorrow. I can't move it yet.  So the day yesterday started out better than I had hoped.  I believe yours can go well today too if you begin to realize God is the source, the only source. If you truly believe in this, there are no limits to what you can overcome in your life or what you can accomplish.  Yes you can get off the treadmill or out of the squirrel cage you are running in circles in. This weekend you can be FAITH IN ACTION. I have to share with you something incredible that happened in the past few days.  It is Faith in Action and trusting the Father to provide.  We received some paperwork concerning the es

More like circles I think. This is obviously a bad habit I need to address...running in circles. I should be in the shower right now and painting after that, but I am here blogging.  How many missed opportunities are there while I am running in circles?   Sometimes in life we have to let go and release things that no longer serve us.  Only then will we find balance and restoration with in our own lives.  You cannot see those opportunities if you are running in circles making dust all around you... So I have to get my mind in the right place to let go of that which is no longer helpful but is only baggage to me. Life cannot go on and grow if I stay running in circles. I have to stop my motion

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website         My heart sis Jan wrote to me: " Love the story about the “Cracked Pots”  Isaiah 64:8  “We are the clay, you are the Potter. We are all the work of your hand.” The overall message contained in 2 Corinthians is "Hope for Cracked Pots."  The Bible says, "For we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us." (2 Corinthians 4:7) The secret of the Christian life is realizing that we contain the life of the Lord Jesus Christ released through the Holy Spirit.  Even though the container may be a little misshapen, or even cracked, the value is the treasure we contain, not in the container itself. In other words, "It's not about ME!" "It's all about HIM!" It warms my heart t

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     I could not help sharing this. I rarely read forwards, but this one came from Vicki and I clicked on it to read.  After I finished it, I knew it would be my blog this morning. It so applies to everything I have been writing about...self acceptance.    An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots. Each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.  One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.  At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.  But the poo

Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     This painting is one that is almost done. It was used for the  videography that Ken was here shooting last week.   It is the thread that ties the process together... from my walks, to  my photos and my collection of objects from nature... all the way back to the studio. The video will show this as it began and developed.  I have not finished it, but hope to this week... if you might be interested, email me. It is a gallery wrapped watercolor canvas and it will be fixed and sprayed with a light varnish seal. It rained here today. It actually rained for four hours straight. I do not know how much water is in the rain gage, but we had a good soaking rain today.  God was good to us in our abundance of rain today. It has not rained here in about six weeks. Did you watch in your life to see what

Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     This was finished yesterday and is drying and waiting for a heavy varnish coat. This was so much fun to do and it is one I will always remember.  Emma and I have traded paintings of our own last year. This year I was able to paint this soccer painting for her family. Our TV carrier has been out. We have one of those dishes on the roof. I am not big on TV so I have not missed it, but Terry is suffering.  If we did not have internet with NETFLIX on demand I think he would  have moved us to a hotel by now. I will look up the weather today as I have no idea what is happening and it has been back pretty hot in the afternoon.  Mornings it is about 50 degrees but afternoons are creeping up to ninety again. I am going to spend much time in prayer this week for abundance for all of us.  Of

I can't help but wonder how they are adjusting to the new home in California.  With all of our many moves I discovered it takes about a year to two years to finally settle in and feel like it is home.   Why does it seem to take so long to adjust to who we really are as God made us?  Some of us take more than two years and some don't ever adjust in their lifetime.  Face it our lives are full of constant adjustments.  We adjust as we go to nursery school for the fir

There are over 75 international artists participating in the feature.   Meanwhile yesterday Ken Vaughan, the videographer/photographer departed late afternoon. We spent most of the morning going through voiceovers and retaping certain segments.  I am looking forward and cringing at the same time to see what he comes up with.  The most difficult to imagine is just seeing myself. I was a professional model for 25 years.  Beanstalk thin at 5 ft 9 inches and 115 lbs...all the way to age 52 or 53.  No longer. So having been so thin for most of my life, the heavier body that weighs me down today at fort

Terry posed on the dock with me for a still picture. We have not had any done in a long long time.  I can't wait to see it.   The painting above is in progress.  This is one I promised to paint last year and am just now catching up to get it down. It will hang in the upcoming art show until I get some other piece finished.  Not sure where my time goes... being retired is hard when you never get a day off. Yesterday I painted leaves. I had collected some on the morning nature walk and I traced them onto wat

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     This one almost made me cry.  I took off in one direction determined to paint something a certain way...sort of like that nude in 2006 that turned into the first running group of ponies... and as I finished this painting I walked away from it disgusted and not liking what was there.  I returned in the morning to the easel and began pulling the paint and it was startling to see the brilliance on the far left corner fading into the vivid reds on the left bottom... and then how magically the wood appeared behind on the top center and right top... and green on the lower right... and then the horses began to appear. There are 13 to be counted on the painting and some faintly imaging behind them in the distance. I knew when I shot the photos of it I w

Ken is due to arrive tomorrow to finish shooting my bio film. I am hoping this works out to share with other artists. We will see!  I am a bit nervous about it too. Target makes her SMILE! We enjoyed seeing her in her OU tutu during the game on Saturday and then in long sleeves for the cooler weather on Sunday.  Terry and I left around noon to drive back. Stacey has to send me photos I took with her camera. When we tried to leave on Saturday, we pulled out of the driveway and back six times, so the seventh back out... we took off and I remembered the camera about 15 miles away and we did not turn back. I am up and ready to hit the studio again this morning to finish up some work started yesterday. I was sorting mail when I came across a 10% off shopping pass from Dillards.  Wonder what it would be like to get  a "Heavenly Pass"?   Perhaps it would work like this:  * Spend one hour in prayer = 2 points of God's rewards earned. * Spend one hour serving food at the soup kitchen = 2 points of God's rewards earned. * Spend one hour working with homeless women helping them retool to live a better life-= 2 points of God's rewards earned.  Track your progress in a daily journal and use your Heavenly Pass wisely giving to others.

"Rehab" Boy and Dog Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Rehab' 9 x 12  Oil on Canvas I had a request to repaint this subject. Life is a continuation and death is just part of that continuation. I do believe this message came to us at the perfect time.  We know Dad (Ben) is released from

My Blog My Website   Yesterday turned out to be pretty relaxing even though I did work part of the day.  You know we started out with a two mile walk, a soak in the hot tub, brunch at 10, and then I finished transferring photos from my camera to the computer. At two I took a nap.  I cannot tell you the last time I took a nap. I was up two hours later doing our household books and my reports for my CPA and then I began a painting for the www.artistsoftexas.org Show in Dallas Nov 2nd thru Dec 31st 2010. Terry had dinner ready at 6:30 (fresh tossed salad with left over chicken, mushrooms, avocados, tomatoes, carrots, onions and raisins: after that it was a good book and back to sleep.  Not sure where the day went, but

The hot tub... that is my thought this morning. It was 54 degrees outside and Terry cleaned up the hot tub yesterday and we hit it this morning.  I feel like  a wet noodle slightly overcooked, but pretty good. A shower, clean hair drip drying and a good breakfast coming up next. I wanted to blog early this morning as yesterday's blog was posted so late. That book was about to drive me insane...but it is done. Thank goodness.  Debbie Lincoln proof read it on Monday and we went to print late yesterday. Now I have to paint for the show and I will be doing that today. Yesterday while the computer was tied up with the upload to LULU, I spent part of the morning cleaning up the kitchen. God
