Hidden deep in north east Texas, this beautiful Bed and Breakfast Inn provides a retreat for restorative healing. From this Inn families, couples and individuals learn to find the "real" in life. Dave and Candy welcome you to their home at Selah Inn.     I had my art workshop there this past summer and it was definitely a time to learn, meditate, pray and paint. Candy believes everyone needs a physical and spiritual rest from their lives and the 'busy' we seem to build around.  She spent a great deal of time planning each room and suite to offer comfort and custom design from the decor to the soaps and lotions in each room. Gone are the 115 degree days and in are coming some nights falling closer to freezing. I find myself wearing a sweater at 80 degrees outside.  Soon we will be eating chili and soup and not thinking of cold ice cream and soft yogurt. The reviews of Braums soft serve Yogurt are off the charts.  Something reminiscent of my childhood years in St. Louis and soft serve ice cream.  Read the Review from Dallas. So when Terry and I are living OUT where it is an hour to drive to Braums and an hour back, we think twice before making the trip. Terry has found a fix for the need... We drive the

Contemporary Horse Painting Moonlight Madness Equine Art by A Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Progress... Moonlight Madness 24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas   I wanted to revisit IN AWE a horse painting done about 15 months ago.   I sketched it out with charcoal on the prepared canvas surface and then began moving the paint around and finding the spirit of this horse on this painting.    Will finish this horse painting up today.      ©Laurie Pace    Graphics One Design 1998-2011   Contact me for your own commissioned painting  or to purchase this piece: Laurie          Do you Make a Difference? We have of course the many individuals that serve us in our communities. This is Sheriff Paul Fletcher (Franklin County Texas) and his wife, Mount Vernon Police Officer Vicki Fletcher.  They both served as Dallas Police officers for over 24 years before retiring to Mount Vernon.  They were 'retired' for about four years and missed 'serving'. Paul was elected Sheriff and Vicki 'volunteers' for the city police force.

Are you limiting yourself in life for the wrong reasons? We start out so simply being born into the arms of our family who then tend to our needs and cares. Depending on the 'soil' we grow in... comes our attitude for life. It grounds us in His miracle grow.. or we may be planted in poor soil promoting fears and anxieties.  Sometimes the soil is weak and we become weak even as we grow. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE. Equine Art Horse Painting IN AWE by A Texas Artist Laurie Pace

In Awe    20 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD This equine painting was done in 2010 and it sold with in two weeks of completion.  I love the energy and the colors that explode behind the horse in the painting and the powerful strength in the horse. When looking at it now I realize I want to paint it a again and tweak the neck area coming into the chest.   I guess that is why artists revisit subjects to paint them again and try new things.  ©Laurie Pace    Graphics One Design 1998-2011   Contact me for your own commissioned painting: Laurie          Colors of God God is the light that surrounds me. God is the love that enfolds me. God is the power that protects me. God is the Father whose presence watches over me day and night. His artistic touch was present yesterday when I was visiting a my friend Ann at her country home. Her gardens were in late summer bloom with the continued Texas heat. Despite the drought the color was

Abstract Figurative Horse Painting At the Races by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

At the Races? Not for long...visit back tomorrow to see where this painting journeyed to. I turned a corner and climbed out of the box again. I use to paint nudes like these only usually one per painting... but then I decided to just paint today and this is the direction it went. I want to explore it more and see what else I can do with people. Maybe the next one won't be nudes exactly but just figures. BUT it does not stay like this so come back tomorrow to see how it evolves...from here. I decided it was too harsh to abrasive for me. While it stands up well in Photoshop, I had a day to study it, I read a book or two and came back and it is different for tomorrows blog.   24 x 36 inches  Oil on Canvas   ©Laurie Pace    Graphics One Design 1998-2011  Sample of a nude from my collections of past paintings.    Contact me for your own commissioned painting  or to purchase this piece: Laurie      Crowded Spaces Mind Filled Races Do you ever crave peace and quiet in

Not sure how it all connects but in my mind I was thinking about life... their is no way out (outlet) of 'cheating death'. We are all born and we all die.  The second sign 'Residents and Guests Vehicles Only' brought into focus that if you want to go past this sign... past death into God's kingdom, you must indeed be a resident or guest living with Him in this life. (Terry says we are all guests on this earth, just passing through.)   The sign loomed before us on the walk forbidding in a sense and alarming you with it's warning....yet just beyond it b

We have our ideas of where we think we are going, but actually we will probably never get there. Hey, God knows what is around the bend and He is actually trying to prepare us for what is ahead. If you are like me though, you are going the opposite way or doing things you think are more important than focusing on Him and His way in your life. We generate most of the chaos in our lives ourselves. Are you ready to let go of it to lay your life in His capable hands? When we walked this morning Terry had the dogs with us. They have absolutely no clue what is happening in life further than the moment that take their current breath.  They are anticipating and eager to w

This is a special time for closeness and life sharing, Yet we all realize the closer we become The more vulnerable we become With a greater risk of exposure and pain. Our souls take to life in a dance Connected through the threads of time Intricately weaving the beautiful colors of each of our souls In gentle movements  To implicate a union of harmonious spirits. A Circle of friends To share this journey Is a great gift of intimacy. Growing old and walking side by side Fac

You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living." I tried researching who said this and if you know let me know so I can credit them.  One of my high school friends posted this on Facebook and I loved it. Are you ready to do this?  Hard to do it with your immediate family...even adult children, but I believe we have to do it to survive and live the way God intends for us to live.  After spending two days w
