"For you were called to be free, brothers and sisters; only don't use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love. For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement: Love your neighbor as yourself. But if you bite and devour one another, watch out, or you will be consumed by one another." Galatians 5:13-15   I remember putting this first book together and weaving into it the daily blogs I was writing. No I did not use ALL of the blogs or ALL of the paintings in 2008, just a variety of ones I did that year. At this time I was painting a little bit of everything, and some were photos from prior years. I am not sure where all the photos are today of those paintings, but I am thrilled my husband found

Beneath I began laying up a few canvas this morning in between running errands, cooking, moving china and cleaning out drawers. Things are always shifting when you least expect it. It is late tonight, already past six. I always used to blog at 6:30 am each morning. Not sure I could get here then, I am on the treadmill each morning by  6:30 doing my 3-4 miles. Usually walk at least 45 min and just trying to squeeze a faster walk in.  I have been in touch with another painter I have know for many years, Elizabeth Chapman. She is an awesome artist and I own  three of her paintings now.  She took a small break from working about the same time I did, and I am still redefining and shifting, wanting to get back to the pleasure of the journey and not

The Light in New York City... Queen Esther by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

I'm so grateful to be a part of a performance space that's committed to #Americana and #folk music traditions worldwide. # .” ― Queen Esther @queenesthermusic (Instagram 7 Nov 2020) It felt like a tale of two cities but it was more more like a tale of two musicians in two cities. It was in 2002 when my hubby brought home the New York newspaper several times a week that I came across an article on the Apollo Theater doing "Harlem Song" with Queen Esther starring in the production.  I loved the cast photo and was determined to paint it, but not to sell it ever. I sent it to Queen Esther. It was the first ti

Ramblings of Sunrise and the New Day.

Ellepace.com    © +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 “Not knowing when the dawn will come I  open every door.” Emily Dickinson Found this simple photo of a lake with an early sunrise in Finland.  It brought a quiet peace to my heart and soul. If I could wish that for each of you, I would.  Imagine the cold in these woods as the photographer came upon the lake early in the morning. The dark clouds breaking up as the sun breaks through with soft oranges and pinks. I know he paused before the shutter clicked, and he felt the magnificence of the arrival of day, just like a new baby being born... the tiny head rotating out first before the next push brings the full birth.  A new day offers new birth to opportunities, new horizons, new experiences, a chance to start again, to discover something new and live another day. It brings hope. It matters not if you are in Finland, the United States, Japan, Australia... Day will break and with it ends the

I’m growing a garden of sunglasses just to help save eyesight and make the world a little bit cooler.”  ― Jarod Kintz, Xazaqazax This has been a year of awareness through the world of cyberspace.  Facebook connects the world and we gather 'friends' that we never will know face to face.  There is a pattern to posting as these new online friends post images of their homes, families...happy moments and times they move through death of a loved one or even their own passing.  Fellow artists have gone through painful times losing their spou
