Pretty Simple - Orange Flowers in a Blue Vase

© +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 Pot of Orange Poppies   Sold I remember the joy of this painting and how the composition of the orange poppies wrapped around the painting crowning the vase. You notice the simplicity of color and the limited palette yet your eye stays active through out the painting. White, blue with a compliment of Orange to the blue... and from the darker areas of Red orange, the compliment of green.   Pretty simple. What fills your life? I love the simple painting above! Not very complicated.  Pretty Simple. Our lives should be so simple.  It seems to grow more complicated by the day and as we sink lower into our busy lives.  I found an article about being a minimalist from BecomingMinima

Days is ended, the Seas are rising, The storm is moving in.

© +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 To the Sea by Laurie Pace   Sold.  Racing the storms through the waves...LOVE painting this one. Maybe I should do another sailing painting!  Visit Ellepace.com to see available artwork.   "Day is ended, dim my eyes,  But journey long before me lies.  Farewell, friends! I hear the call.  The ship's beside the stony wall.  Foam is white and waves are grey;  Beyond the sunset leads my way.  Foam is salt, the wind is free;  I hear the rising of the Sea." J.J. Tolkien  Sailing in a storm on the water would seem scary...but we know Jesus actually walked on water.  He invited Peter, one of the Disciples, to follow him on the water.  As Peter stepped out of the boat his eyes were on Jesus and he took quite a few successful steps. As soon as he took his eye off Jesus, and saw the rising wind and waves... he began to sink. Immediately Jesus came to him, grabbing him before he went under

Faith... and the Leap of Faith

© +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 Leap of Faith   Sold. This contemporary horse painting sold from Mirada Fine Art in Indian Hills, Colorado. Visit Ellepace.com to see available artwork.   “ “Faith is not about finding meaning in the world, there may be no such thing -- faith is the belief in our capacity to create meaningful lives.” Terry Tempest Williams I believe faith starts with God, not just with us. When I look at the condition of the world, all the fighting and accusing and tearing apart of our nation... I could not go through each day without giving it ALL to God. To live faith based we are living breathing examples of God in our words and actions.  During our lives here in this world, there are times God is pushing us past our safety zones and through his wisdom we grow from adversity and actually grow our faith.  Learning to walk in faith is one of the hardest journeys to make, to give up the materialistic thing

Out of the Calm Waters, Women are strong and resilient.

© +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 Three at the Watering Hole   Sold.  Visit Ellepace.com to see available artwork.   “I hate to hear you talk about all women as if they were fine ladies instead of rational creatures. None of us want to be in calm waters all our lives.” Jane Austen We are weaving into another contemporary horse painting done at the same time as the last watering hole. The colors seem to be where my heart was as I continued using that palette. Dee  Love the quote today. Women have much strength and resilience. Some do not even realize how deep it is woven within them.  Our Father created woman with all her gifts to be a strong mate for Adam.  It does not seem to matter the 'generation' you were born in or the circumstances of the times, we were hand crafted by God.  I know the women in our family have generous hearts and are capable of almost anything. Sometimes we sell ourselves short, or step back w

On one side we live right in the midst of our grandchildren and their families. On the flip side we miss east Texas and the lake and our friends.  We took steps to joining a new church that is a new campus of a larger church, and we feel really blessed by this decision to go and visit and get to know the people that call it their home. It meets at a Marriott in the conference rooms right now as they are so newly established, there is no land purchased yet or site built.  Getting in at the beginning here has been a blessing. The men and women we have meet welcomed us like old friends. (I am smi

No Trouble on the Town Square... Tales of Texas

© +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 Tales of Texas 8 x 10  Oil on Canvas  SOLD  Visit Ellepace.com for new available work.  “Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul And sings the tune without the words And never stops at all.”     Emily Dickinson I loved painting this little gem!  Took the photos in downtown Mount Vernon, Texas when we lived at the lake. The Sheriff has his gun at his side leaning back on the old picnic table under the trees. There will be no trouble on the town square! We will never realize the fullness of God's strength in our lives if we ignore the spiritual protection he offers. Every day I pray for protection for each family member. The peace God offers in return flows through me. I know He has this. He has it in your life as well.  Isaiah 40:29-31 " He gives strength to the weary  and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary,  and young men

Count your life by smiles, not tears.” John Lennon  Yesterday I finished the first layer of background on the cowboy I am painting. He is on a beautiful gray roan horse roping a black calf.  The actual cowboy does the duo team calf down competition. Yes, Dan Jordan, I did not call it the correct name I am sure! John Lennon never had the chance to grow old and finish out a longer life in this journey. Our politics and music grew far apart over the years after my high school graduation in 1970. I love the part of this quote that says "count your life by smiles not tears."  I do find growing older the 'friends' number seems to diminish as many are taken by cancer or heart attacks. Our 50th class reunion is this year, 2019-2020.  I remember graduating from

At the Easel Today! Painting with Laurie Pace

© +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 At the Easel Today  Don't forget to visit my website for new available work! Ellepace.com “I wish I had the talent to paint the way I feel about you, for my words always feel inadequate. I imagine using red for your passion and pale blue for your kindness; forest green to reflect the depth of your empathy and bright yellow for your unflagging optimism. And still I wonder: can even an artist’s palette capture the full range of what you mean to me?”  Nicholas Sparks As I head to the easel this morning, I decided to post early on my blog and not at nine pm at night!  Back in 2006 when I started blogging, I did it faithfully every morning. Seven days a week.  I was painting one painting every day except on Sunday and I had things to share. While part of me wants to do small paintings every day, without Daily Painters, I would be challenged to sell them.  The Lord guides me these days.  W
