Spring Roses Heavy Palette Knife Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, God's Palette of colors

Spring Roses 30 x 40 inches   Oil on Canvas    Sold to a collector in Connecticut. Thank you.    Contact me for your own painting. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2011  His Palette of Colors varies in each of our lives. No two of us are created exactly the same.  I think we spend so much time finding fault in others that we miss the beauty in their palette. When God created each of us, He carefully chose how He 'knitted' together our pieces and what colors were in our individual palettes. Terry found the Tink in her room this morning trying to choose her colors in her palette, but it was a dry attempt with no water.  Watercolors do not work dry. I compromised  and gave up cleaning the house for the big party tomorrow and sat down at the table to paint with her. I always carry my watercolors with me. She was delighted and for the next hour she plied her paper with lots of purple and pinks.  She is both a cool palette and a warm palette.  Sh

Fishing Buddies Figurative Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, The Breath of God

Fishing Buddies 16 x 16 ft  Oil on Canvas     SOLD  Contact me for your own painting. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2011 There is something in the air.... FLOATING.... light as a cloud and crystal clear... on the wind and not so near.   Childhood memories come tumbling back on the wind blowing around us. Closing my eyes I can feel a bubble brush upon my check. It suddenly popped, leaving a soapy lightness kissing my cheek. Bampa sits on the porch making bubbles with his sweet granddaughter. His patience never ending for over an hour as she chased bubbles across the yard.   Simplicity in the play. Beautiful crystal bubbles in all sizes dancing through the air as small hands reach up to, stretching in hope to grasp the elusive sphere floating upward to God. God's breath of wind fills each  of these crystal spheres. Simplicity. The breath of God... have you felt it on your face recently? With winter leaving us and spring arriving,

There is a secret to simplicity. There is a way to bring your life under 'control'.  Shhh...be quiet and listen. In 17th century France, Brother Lawrence , a humble monk serving in a monastery as a cook, discovered how to put God First in everything he did. This went way beyond the typical rituals and prayers observed in the monastery, God was first in the kitchen as Brother Lawrence worked. God was first in all his conversations with others in the monastery.  God was first in every aspect of his life. RESULT:   A SIMPLE LIFE.  GOD IS ALWAYS PRESENT: Here is some of what Brother Lawrence wrote: "God has infinite treasure to bestow.  When He (God) finds a soul penetrated with a lively faith, He pours into it His graces and favors plentifully; there they flow like

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2011  This painting will be a journey of love. I am going to share parts of a story that I can share while still protecting my collector. This is a beginning sketch above on the canvas.  I was playing around and realized afterward I had not put a coat of light acrylic on the canvas before I began sketching. I will be approaching this painting differently.       EIGHT years ago a young woman saw this smaller painting and really wanted it. EIGHT years ago it was purchased by a man for his wife and the young woman was very disappointed. FOR SIX YEARS the young woman kept the painting as her screen saver.   LAST YEAR t h e young woman was diagnosed with cancer and died a short time later. FOR MONTHS her husband tried to find me. LAST MONTH I was called by an out of state Gallery asking if they could share m

Working from other artists' paintings is not legal or ethical either.  Chance begins to flow on both sides and I get nervous. I have never cared for chance.  I have never been a

Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2011   H armony is the word that comes to my heart this morning. Everything seems right with the world with warmer temperatures bringing our Texas Winter back to what we are accustomed to.  65 degrees yesterday brought everyone back outside in the neighborhood and it was like a gathering of friends you had not seen in years...actually only weeks.  We walked Paddy twice yesterday soaking in the warmth and enjoying being outside. Yesterday morning it was only 18 degrees outside when we woke up... and today it is 65.  Living in the world today there are often conflicts and misunderstandings both in our families and in our communities. People often react with out thought. You have that choice not to react. Stay centered in the presence of God and respond to o

Progression on Racing the Sunset 3 ft by 4 ft Sold Commission See second slide show below.  The morning broke with clouds and very little sun. There is a light layer of ice on the pond outback. The ducks do not seem to mind, they have several little cubby holes in the bank that they gather in.  My house is warm and feels to good, I wonder how I can have water leaking out the side of it with out seeing it inside. Things are never exactly how they look. Tracking the leak has not been a successful event. Five plumbers later, cut out sheet rock, trenches dug next to the slab out side... and we are waiting to hear back from a Leak Detector Company out of Whitehouse, Texas.  Mr Hubby was armed and ready. He spent time gathering the tools before cutting anything. He was careful to use protection as he took on the project. . His Sawzall and blades were ready and he tested it out. Then Silence Came . I call to him hoping everything was okay behind the Closed Door.  He told

Obviously we are not equipped to live like this in Texas with it so cold.  A few days ago we began to hear water running and nothing was turned on.  In this cold weather that is not a sound you want to hear.    T he insurance adjuster was here yesterday and Terry began the tear down in the bathroom this morning to get to the problem pipe. This is not an easy thing to do and it was not on our agenda. Seems like God always has these small detours in our lives. There are several books out about that.  When Bad things happen to Good People and then my favorite, THE BIBLE . Experiences in life are there for us to test our faith and our abilities to survive and be stronger. We grow stronger in faith when we endure and have to rely on Him to get

Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2011   It has quite a ways to go yet ... hard to tell the prepainted blue background from what is evolving on the canvas. So stay with me for hopefully another slide show tomorrow. It was cold yesterday when I got up so I started the two small heaters I have in the studio to warm it up.  Terry had not slept well last night, so he was sleeping as I answered email... waiting for the warmth to fill the space where I paint.   There are times when the need to paint overcomes the cold, but with sleet falling outside early, I knew snow would follow, and it did.  As I finished up my computer work I felt like a kid wanting to hurry and finish my homework so I could go play.. . play in my paints.  No more thoughts of Mr Tax Collector that wants me to pay tax on my 'play' stuff... just thoughts of thick b
