Summer Horse 18  SOLD By Texas Artist Laurie Pace  12 x 9  inches Oil on Canvas Panel * Some paintings will require drying time as they are freshly painted each day.  100 Horses for 100 Days of Summer for $100 each. Horse Paintings from my studio daily through out this summer. I am trying to focus on the joy of painting instead of the heat of summer, so now is the perfect time to collect a Pace Palette Knife Pony. Path of Life When Morgan was a junior in high school we talked about paths in life. Talk was more like Sesame Street though, thinking about choices and what comes with those choices.   We always have a choice of direction in what we do. God allows that. I have observed that when we are so busy in our own world, we no longer can hear Him speaking to us and we often take the wrong path. He has one for us... we just need to get 'o

Broken cups, broken hearts, torn clothing, baby dolls missing an arm, teddy bears without one eye. Each symbolizing something that has caused a fear or worry to manifest itself within.  Put those things at the foot of that cross.

Contemporary Horse Painting, Moon Over The River Abstract Horse Painting by Texas Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Moon Over the River 3 ft by 4 ft  Oil on Canvas Not totally sure I am done with this Horse Painting. It is part of the series Over the River and no it is not Little Red Riding Hood!  Playing with colors and contrast and light, throw in reflections and thick buttery oil paints and you can come up with a nice Abstract Horse Painting.        © Laurie Pace     Graphics One Design 1998-2011 contact me: Laurie         Oh Say Can You See? Yes I can see . I can already see things I want to add and relocate on this painting, so I know it will be in the studio for finishing up next week. We have arrived at Easter weekend and Lent as come to an end.  Thursday we marked the remembrance of Jesus with his walk to the hill top carrying a heavy cross, to which they nailed him in the worst punishment of crucifixion. Can you close your eyes and for just a split second image the depth of pain and suffering Jesus endured for us? Terry was speaking yesterday of what happened to those that b

Contemporary Horse Painting FULL MOON by Texas Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Full Moon This deviates from all the reds I have been painting.  Purple is my favorite color so I decided to use it in this elegant night horse painting.  I used both a palette knife and a wide brush working on this one. It may or may not be done... I will only post it again if I do make major changes.  She is really pretty in person. Soothing and quiet...SHHH  you can here her hooves in the water breaking the silence of the moon. 20 x 30  Oil on Canvas    © Laurie Pace  Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact me: Laurie   You Can Get Glad Just like you Got Mad or Sad. Quoting my awesomely wise father-in-law, Ben, who we lost last September... I have to jump in on this one this morning.  Change is inevitable. Change is constant. Change is not always what we want. Change occurs every single second of our life. Change is not sad, nor is change happy.  Change is only Change. Do you meet the changes and challenges in your life with a positive attitude? "Lead me, Lord, lead me, Lord, by the light of truth to seek and to find the narrow way. Be my way; be my truth; be my life, my Lord, and lead me, Lord, today." I came across this song on the internet and truly felt the words calling to me. There was a media player there and I was able to listen to the song.  It was not the one I was seeking in my mind; The one I sought was an old hymn from church.   "Lead me, Lord, lead me in thy righteousness; make thy way plain before my face. For it is thou, Lord, thou, Lord only, that makest me dwell in safety. " Both songs express it so well... be it the light t

Blue Boy Acrylic Glazes Equine Art Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artists Laurie Pace

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 www.lauriepace.blogspot.com www.ellepace.com www.thepaintedpony.ne t The Painting: This was the first one I worked on the glazing. First it was sketching and a mono print process onto the canvas surface.(That needs practice for me) and then the glazing layers of color in a dreamy like application. Life at the Lake: Yesterday was Sunday and we made church and then home for scrambled goose eggs.  Yes, you read right, scrambled goose eggs.   I posted a picture above showing how the goose egg stacks up against XL eggs. Those other eggs are not small ones, but large ones.  The front left egg is actually a green egg.  Color is off in the picture.  Different kind of hen laid those.  The goose egg is snow white.  It is equal to at least two regular xl eggs, or three L eggs. I cannot eat a whole one.    The Thought:   Do

'The Rain' Contemporary Horse Equine Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'The Rain' 5 x 7 inches  Oil on Board Third in this series of small equine pieces. $100 Contact me to purchase via check or to use paypal: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace    Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting :  This is the third in the series I did this week.  The Sun, The Moon and The Rain.   The Thought :  It was a sad day yesterday when I received the call that Patina of Marble Falls will be closing.  Marnie and John have put so much of their heart and soul into that store and the beauty and kindness they have brought to Marble Falls is unbelievable. They have touched lives and changed lives all for the better. I do not know how the brick and mortar galleries are going to make it in this economy .  Everyday it seems to get worse despite the stock market and the analysts.  They do not walk in our shoes every day. Terry and I live off his American Airlines wages which are the same he made in 1991 with no hope of seeing a raise.  We have lost vacation time (

'Horse of Color' Equine Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'A Horse of Color' 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD from the blog! Thank You. Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting : Thick color and buttery paint with this oil on canvas. Sometimes you just love the play of contrast and the gillion colors you can come up with. The Thought : Nicknames or name calling is where I am heading off to today. Do you have a nickname? My first nickname growing up was graced upon me by my Aunt Marie. She called me Laurie Boo. That quickly became Boo-boo. Psychologically this might not have been the best choice of a nickname for a young child. Made me wonder if my presence was a boo-boo. As When I was at school in first grade I decided to change my name and began writing Amy at the top of my papers. I can still see my teacher shaking her head at me. I liked the name. As I grew into a brave 8 year old, there was a man at the church that called me by my full name, Laurie Sue. H

'Arabian in Red' Large Equine Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace

'Arabian in Red' 24 x 24 inches Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving, large or small, it will be used to measure what is given back to you ." Luke 6:38 The Painting : I continue to experiment this summer using my acrylics more. With this high humidity it is almost impossible to get oils to dry. I have never 'loved' acrylics, but with the situation as it is, I am learning more about them and their flexibility compared to oils. I have about decided they are as different as night and day. This painting began with pinks, oranges and reds washed thickly over the background. From there the layering of acrylics creates a wash and drip effect and thickening of layers provides contrast in both color and texture. The Thought

"The Great Race" Equine Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

'The Great Race' 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Thank you! Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God ." Philippians 4:6 The Painting : Taking off on a different road with this one. The horses are more defined for space; the action is in the movement of line and counter lines playing angles against each other. Colors are always vivid. The Thought : Planning ahead. Is it the Great Race? In the remodeling of this house we definitely should have had a better plan and kept a better schedule. Planning ahead I should have never lined up cable or internet until we were done. This morning I began to wake and lifted one eyelid and saw it was light in the room. Terry is on a different schedule and I knew he had to be up. My eyes flew open to the alarm clock and it was only 4 am. I realized then t
HIGH MESA Horse Art Painting by Laurie Justus Pace Mixed Mediums Acrylic Overlays of Paper, Paint and Varnish Contact Me to Purchase and mention the title of this piece: Laurie I was experimenting yesterday and like the direction I am going. Tomorrow I will try something similar but different. I have two shows coming up, one here in Dallas and one in Marble Falls, so it encourages me to step out of the box. Yesterday we tried the electric collar on Paddy on a walk. I prefer not to walk my first walk with the dogs. You spend too much time worrying about loose dogs in the neighborhood with Paddy. Annie is great. She can go nose to nose with any dog smiling. Paddy, well lets say Terry kept raising the zap level. It was sad. He is definitely a special needs dog. Stacey phoned yesterday. She has made 14 weeks now with her pregnancy. Little Tink is reported to have precious little feet. She saw those the best on the last Doctor adventure. It will be another month before we know for
IN THE DARK OF NIGHT Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 x 2 Acrylic Overlays with Varnish Inquiries: Laurie Appropriate painting I do believe... but it is day time and just past nine. I am suppose to be at the framer, was to be there six minutes ago, so this is a very very short blog. I have over 25 emails wanting to know about the bed. The Bed is WONDERFUL. We slept like logs... and woke happily...but a bit late! The only ONLY negative is the mattress is short. We have a huge four poster bed and are used to the big deep mattress set we had. Our mattress sits very very low. I am hoping Terry can figure out something to rig to bring it up higher. I feel like I could slip through between the back of the bed and the mattress with the hole that is there!!! I high recommend the bed after one night, but we need to see after two or three nights! I like the verse I chose to include today. Think about the words and see what you think. As a human we would have a dif
EXPLOSIVE FURY Contemporary Modern Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD I am surrounding by a huge pile of TO DO's on my desk. Not sure if painting or cleaning comes first! I decided to do the blog first. THEN jump in and paint. Then I will clean off my desk. I am trying to get organized. This is an explosive painting that evolved this weekend. I finished it up last night. Colors pulling in the down direction created a mighty force on the surface. I was working also on a small commission piece of a little one (Dog) named Sugar. I almost have Sugar finished too. My next commission piece is of a young girl playing in an orchestra at the Meyerson. Her Mom sent me pics from home but the ones from actually being on stage are unbelievable. Terry's cousin Sandra came to visit yesterday. We worked in the plants out in the garden room for most of the day. I prepared pasta and meat sauce with fresh salad and hot bread with cheese, tomatoes and garlic on it! Yummm. Leftov
Magnificent Four Modern Contemporary Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 15 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas SOLD Foggy, cool, wet and early. I thought it was suppose to get cold but it didn't. Terry is painting edges on my finished work, I am blogging and the back door is wide open for the dogs to wander through in and out. I can hear a jet flying overhead, but it truly in the dark is not much different than the country. Where we live in Dallas is very quiet. Well, quiet until seven thirty. There is a wonderful elementary school one block away...and the kids begin to arrive....and then the bells begin to ring. Memories. My little brother went to this school. I went to another one about three miles from here. This painting is in my new series, COLORS of WYOMING. Action packed with movement and color I am trying to capture the energy of the horses. Not much compares to their beauty when they are running...so fluid and so graceful, the stocky body on the thin legs!
NOT A STEP CLOSER Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace Oil on Canvas 24 x 24 Contact me for pricing or commission work. SOLD Okay so I forgot yesterday. A lot going on! MORGAN did get a full time sub position with Nothwest ISD as a special Ed teacher at Nance Elementary. Your prayers were of such great support to him! Thank you! It is not official yet, but I think he starts Monday. They did not offer a "Contract" as in Full Time Teacher because we are passed the half way mark in the school year. This way the district does not have to pay benefits. Will keep you posted on progress. This is a quick entry this early early morning. I could not sleep due to shoulder pain and am up in my jamas to paint awhile. Terry is sound asleep where I should be, but my rolling around was keeping him awake. I have been unpacking his stuff now. Probably why my shoulder and neck hurt. I shake my head in disbelief at the accumulation of plastic model kits that are in this house. Remembe
THE GLARE ~ Contemporary Horse Abstract by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for details Laurie The eyes are the door to the soul for me. This particular horse has a look that you cannot take your eyes from his. Intense determination seems to ooze out! Yesterday was filled with a trip back to Justin Texas to retrieve cardboard for shipping paintings, Terry's Grandfather's bed and my painting rack. We still have one more trip for PVC Pipe. Couldn't get it all in the truck. We ended up there around Lunch time and Terry wanted to stop at the Local Burger place for sweet tea and a hamburger. Mind you we thought this place was really good about 6 weeks ago. It took less than two chews on my first bite to know I would not eat the hamburger. The salad I ordered was basically two shredded leaves of lettuce in 1/2 of honey mustard dressing. That is the dressing I ordered on the side. The French fries were right good. I ate half of thos
Explosive Energy ~ Abstract Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD 24 x 24 inches, Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for prices or commission work. Click here. I am painting again. This is one of the pieces I painted her at the new studio. Very brilliant color adorns the background with two horses exploding across the surface. No house pictures today...we are painting walls and unpacking. I am painting inbetween as well. I hope to post some it's almost done shots soon. I am struggling at this moment to stay above water with so much happening. I am ready to finish unpacking and getting on with life but it will be a few more weeks before we can do that. Staying focused on the Lord and His light is all I can do to be calm. In His Light, Laurie " He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recogni
ALIKE MINDS ~ Contemporary Horses by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Good Thursday Morning to you. I commented to Terry I was beginning to feel my age as I got up this morning. We cleaned out half the garage last night because of trash pick up today and I certainly could feel it when we got up at five thirty. We have a Fire Inspection next week for our CPS certification.
