Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010   www.lauriepace.blogspot.com www.ellepace.com www.thepaintedpony.ne t The Painting: Playing in color as I begin feeling out the direction for a new series. A totally different approach to the canvas and I will have to watch and see what feel comes from it with the next one.  I think I will be painting more on this one... so stay tuned. Life at the Lake:  Terry spent the day yesterday mowing and mowing and mowing some more.   I did pick two tomatoes from one of the tomato bushes and Vicky gave us some more squash from her garden.  I wanted to go out on the lake yesterday afternoon but I had to work. The Thought:    “What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment. And this is the moment you can choose to make everything

Saturday is filled with the Bridesmaid luncheon and the rehearsal dinner . We will mainly be on the road most of the time driving from here...50 miles to there 25 miles and back there 50 miles. The luncheon is at a place called the CHOCOLATE ANGEL.   Not sure what to expect. Folks that have already lunched there said, 'Don't get exc

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010   www.lauriepace.blogspot.com www.ellepace.com www.thepaintedpony.ne t The Painting:  Worked more on the cowboy today...but spent most of the day scrubbing the studio down. Vicky is staying here while we are gone to mind the manor and fill Paddy with her home cooking. This painting will be on hold until we return. Life at the Lake:  We are in the countdown mode for leaving this morning for Dallas and the big wedding.   Vicky should be here by nine and we should be on the road after that.  Tonight is the Barbecue at Tara's parents home... tomorrow will be filled with shoe shopping, getting nails done etc. Saturday is the Bridesmaid luncheon and Sunday evening the wedding.  I will be missing the quiet of our little pond and home. The Thought: We received in the mail our NURSE LINE from American Airlines.   This has been

Seven in the Herd Signature Painted Pony Pull Horse Abstract Contemporary Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 www.lauriepace.blogspot.com www.ellepace.com www.thepaintedpony.ne t The Painting: A smaller version of my larger Painted Pony Pulls. Life at the Lake:  Nothing more but  a trip to Winnsboro to the Friends & Co for a hair cut... and then... tada.... The n ew thing is internet and streaming NETFLIX on our Wii.   Terry loves 24 hours a  day movies on demand.  I have to remind him of sleeping too. Oh, and don't forget about the Lake outside.  Actually he mowed the rest of the lawn yesterday.  It is an acre and a half and the riding mower is needing a new tire. The Thought:   Streaming NETFLIX, oh my gosh, what more could anyone want?   Well, I am not a movie/tv watcher, so I could list a bunch ahead of this, but your typical citizen around here would be glued to the set with a mini refrig and microwave hooked up

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 www.lauriepace.blogspot.com www.ellepace.com www.thepaintedpony.ne t The Painting: Thick palette knife oils that frame up pretty nice for that special niche that needs color. The Thought:  Don't shoot a hole in the boat.    I truly do not know where that came from.  Sometimes I refer to a hole in the boat and if you can't tell me where it is, the boat will go under with both of us on it.  That is usually the speech saved for the child that has done something wrong and won't admit it.  The unconditional love thing that we both go down in the boat together, or we work it out together. I try to convince them it would be so much better if they told me where the hole was in the boat so I can help them repair it... then we get to keep sailing along in life.  The obvious thing is we often shoot the hole in

The Beginnings THE PROMISE Equine Art Horse Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'The Promise' 34 x 48 inches  Oil on Canvas Contact me for commission work. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  You can see in my hand a small sheet of paper.   It contains the page torn out of my sketch book with a presketch on it always done before I begin a painting. This is my new studio area with lots of windows and light.  Not a bedroom, but a true painting area, just not as big as I had in Dallas. The Thought: Most of yesterday was painting!  And recovering from doing all the grass.  Terry and I have been watching at night "East of Eden" (1971 version).  We have only seen the first of the mini series but I am hooked so far.  It is based on Cain and Abel from the bible.   I thought when we started watching it, it was an all in one movie and I would see the whole thing... it was when it ended abruptly Terry told me it was a mini-series.    I do not want to spill the movie to you, but if you have not seen it, ren

Red Flowers on Orange Flower Art Floral Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'RED FLOWERS ON ORANGE' 4 x 6  Oil on 300 lb Watercolor Paper SOLD Contact me for commission work. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:This is one of three in a series and this one is sold. I will post the other two pretty soon. The Thought:    It was a long day yesterday. A long six hours of the day at least.  Terry and I laid out a full palette of grass in part of the back yard.  It is San Augustine Grass and here in Texas you buy it in bulk amounts on palettes of wood.   We could have done this in two hours, but he was soaking each square piece of grass in a mixture of root stimulator and water before we put it down.  We wore out and finally the last third we just placed on the ground and watered it really well.  I keep promising pictures, but they have to wait until I am through with the commission I have to do and maybe the wedding the first part of July.  Even being out in the sun in back for six hours today, I did not tire
'Herd on the Hudson' 24 x 36  Oil on Canvas This is a painting going to New York this summer. I was invited to be apart of a large equine art show in upper state NY outside Albany. They caught me unexpectedly as I did not submit work to them, they phoned me and asked for artwork and then allowed me extra time to finish a gorgeous piece for the show. I am honored as I believe strongly in giving all we can to those in need.   It is the 2010 HITS - on- the-Hudson Equestrian Art Exhibition and Auction The painting is at the Dutch Art Gallery being framed and I will ship it shortly to NY to the show. Scent of Summer Equine Art Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Scent of Summer' 24 x 30  Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:    Summer fun with this one . Basic acrylic layering of colors and a faceted look of values as the layers compiled together. The Thought:    Terry is doing better today.  The Doctor has him keeping his leg elevated and iced and advil of course.  My hip is much better and only my knee is a bit messed up. No sailing yesterday and maybe not today. Have to see.  Today is shipping day for work going out.  I have books going to the UK, a painting to the UK, pieces to Canada, China, New York, Georgia, Louisiana, and Missouri.   My three books arrived for my commission work from LULU and they are beautiful.  For those of you that do not know, for my larger commission paintings I put together a beautiful hard back book of the painting from sketches to finish.  They arrive here from LULU, I sign them and they either

Leah Abstract Purple Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Leah' 20 x 30  Oil on Canvas Sold Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: A beautiful drip already in a home.... The Thought:  Another day of collisions... The wind yesterday was about 25-30 knots this morning and I was not wanting to go out and as we were putting up the sails I suggested Terry take the boat out alone.   This was not one of my best suggestions as I watched him struggle turning it around in the cove with the flaky winds churning three different directions.  The first time the boat rammed into a tree with the mast. That was not good on his body as he threw himself trying to hold onto it and messed up his leg trapping it between the boat rudders (Darn those rudders) and the shore.  He continued oblivious of the pain he was in and he struggled on board trying to row out with out me helping.  He yelled up, "I can't do this alone."  and I yelled back, "Don'

The Painting:  This has been slumming around Highland Park in Dallas in multi-million dollar homes being staged and sold. Julie Guidry is a phenomenal decorator.  This piece is available for purchase. The Thought:  I have heard of naming pet ducks lately, along with pet cows and pet donkeys and pet goats...but Terry had me the other morning when we were out feeding the fish.   You know we live on what is commonly referred to in our neighborhood as Catfish Pond.  We have yet to see one in the three months living here.  We have seen them now and Terry has managed to name them.  Feeding the fish brought out the bass and the perch and FINALLY the catfish this week with their little whiskers.  (Terry rather

Three in a Dream Equine abstract Art Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Three in a Dream' 9 x 12  Oil on Canvas SOLD FROM THE BLOG! Thank you. Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This was unusual as it painted out but I fell in love with it! Email me if it tugs at your heart and mention the name of the painting. The Thought:  Purple Barns.  We saw two purple barns on the way back from Bonham yesterday.  We drove one route up to Bonham through Commerce and Bailey but there as so much road construction we came home through Paris and Bogata.  Made much better time that way (altho mileage was longer) the roads were wonderful and very little traffic. On the way home is when I spotted the purple barns.  I truly have never seen anyone paint a barn purple before... a dark lavender purple, like the sky is at night. The ends of the barns were light forest green.  Had there been black and white cows I would have stopped to take a picture...but we were going about 70

Out of the Canyon Abstract Equine Art Painted Pony Pull by Contemporary Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Out of the Canyon' 24 x 36  Acrylic on Canvas SOLD COMMISSION Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This just was finished two days ago and is in Dallas at the Dutch Art Gallery being framed for the collector.   The Thought: As I reflect on yesterday and the long trip into Dallas and our over-stuffed day... I get tired thinking about it and I have had some sleep last night. More travel in the next few days as well... What did I learn yesterday? That another family must have died in a wreck on I30 traveling east into Dallas. There were five new white crosses with names and flowers on the right side of the road going into Sulphur Springs.   Terry and I prayed together as we saw the new crosses and I could only read one name as we whizzed by at 65...it was a little boys name on the cross.  This accident wiped out an entire family. Made us stop and think how this custom has grown

SugarJacks A Girl's Best Friend Equine Cowgirl Art by Daily Painter Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Sugar Jacks A Girl's Best Friend' 16 x 20  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:    I was asked to repost this painting for the cowgirl in the picture...she has been caring for her hubby and has not had normal computer time. The Thought:   I was finishing up the book EAT PRAY LOVE last night and came across this thought.  Smile to make your liver feel better.  The point was you don't have to do YOGA and do twisted positions and sit until you hurt, you simply have to show gratitude and share it with a smile.  Sit smiling and mediate on all you are grateful for.  Smile during the day. It will make you feel better. So I told my friend Kim that we were going to smile (Even through gritted teeth) this week so our 'livers' would feel better and see if that would help the rest of our body.   EAT PRAY LOVE has been an interesting book in many ways as it definitely t

Mountain Herd Wild Appaloosa Equine Abstract Art Horse Painting by Texas Artist Daily Painter Laurie Pace

'Mountain Herd Wild Appaloosa' 24 x 36  Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  This painting developed and went wild as I built the layers higher and higher adding the Spots to my girls! The Thought: They spoke on grace and blessings at church yesterday.  I know I write about that often.  But when I thought about it today, it is His Grace that is ours as we face so many challenges. He is there with us... and from each of those challenges comes blessings.  There is the Breakfast Club Sunday School group that goes to the local cafe for Sunday breakfast and it was here the discussion continued on the sermon today.  " Then he told this parable: "A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, 'For three years now I've been coming to look for f

HORSE 2 Equine Abstract Art Horse Painting Daily by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Horse 2' 9 x 12 Acrylic on Canvas SOLD  Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: Vibrant and defined by color. The Thought: We made several trips to the neighborhood work area. Once every month or two they bring in a dumpster and you can load it with anything but brush or trees or grass.  It is here about a week and then it goes away until the next time.  We happened to notice there was a sign up that said DUMPSTER is here.  We have truly been working hard the past few days emptying the stuff left by the prior owner and finishing up and sorting the rest of our stuff too.  Terry has made three runs so far and we will go once more this afternoon.    The men that work the yard here in the neighborhood have one of the digger machines with the scooper on it. It is a tall one.  What they do is as the dumpster fills up, they sprinkle smell good on it and use that digger as a masher, mashing al

"Special Moments Together" Equine Art Horse Daily Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Special Moments Together' 12 x 12  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: Just a small painting, 12 x 12 but deep with thought in the eyes of each horse. The Thought:  The journey of the day is often a test of our spiritual health more than the actual physical happenings.   In a single blink or small action we literally change our path despite our destination.  Our goal is there, but life ever changing continues to happen and our lives are affected by others around us that we cannot control.   Missing a turn on the road, or misplacing your cell phone, or leaving your wallet behind at a restaurant....simple things change our journey in just seconds.     Rick Warren says, "The way you see your life shapes your life. How you define life determines your destiny. Your perspective will influence how you invest your time, spend your money, use your talents, and value your relati

'Spirit Sun Dance Two' Equine Art Horse Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Spirit Sun Dance Two' 10 x 10  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: I revisited Spirit Sun Dance with more vivid colors. The Thought: Today is our anniversary.   We prayed together already this morning and will do our morning walk as soon as I am done blogging.   I don't think we will go out to dinner tonight but will wait until we can sneak off together to celebrate this special day. When it comes to getting married and staying married you need God in the center of the relationship.  Then lots of faith, hope, love and respect. God's vision for marriage requires us to be centered in Him and to accept and recognize that we are nothing without Him and when we enter into a relationship, it is to accept each other as we are made, as He made us.  Maybe those vows should be altered a bit,  "Will you accept me as I am and not as you want me to be."   We learn t

'Dancing in the Moonlight' 24 x 24  Acrylic on Canvas  I reworked this painting, so this is updated and it is available. Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: I worked more on this painting and really feel the power in it now. The Thought: This week is our wedding anniversary. Terry and I have known each other for 46 years.  That is a long relationship now days.   We are blessed to both be believers and to have grown up as teenagers visiting each other's churches and youth groups.  Yesterday morning we joined the First United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon Texas.  We are so blessed to be apart of this wonderful congregation.  Many of our neighbors from Tall Tree drive into town to attend this church as well as a large majority of folk  from town.  It is a large church with two services, active groups for every season of life and a minister that leads with his heart and hands plac

'Day Break' Equine Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Day Break' 30 x 36 Oil on Canvas  This is not quite done...but close. I will post it one more time later this week.  This is a commission painting.  It is SOLD. Contact me for commission work. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  It was so bright an sunny outside and I saw Paddy (the dog) rear up by the fence like this and though cool... make him into a horse... and I did. The Thought: Yesterday Terry and I drove into Dallas for a wedding shower for Justin and Tara. They do have a website:  Taraandjustin.info  The shower was wonderful and we met many of her parents dearest and nearest friends and share refreshments and laughter and love as she opened many beautiful gifts.   My favorite is my mother's special gift of giving Newly Weds an empty vase called the Forgiveness Vase.  She wrote a special poem for it and inserted it in the vase.   The vase is to be filled with flowers whenever one partner or the other needs to say t
