Stories usually have a beginning and an end. When you are born and when you die.  In between are small inner paragraphs of stories making up your full life story.  Today many of you can share these short stories from your life... and right now there may be high school teachers, college professors, life coaches, or even headhunters that want the real story of your past including accomplishments, the goals you have achieved, about your first job, or if you are focused on being a leader. They want you to share it all and 'beef it up', evoking empathy along the way to make your story important. People will ta

" It isn't what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it. " - Dale Carnegie  Today what are you thinking about? Touching back on two days ago and direction and contentment... I found this quote above.  It struck a chord deep inside.   Where does my mind go with thoughts. Easy to list. Helping with a family member Making things easier for my husband Food prep Cleaning house and studio Walking Dogs and checking they are fed Blogging and painting for others Working for clients on websites daily Just trying to finish my day to shut my brain down. What am I not thinking about, that I really want to do. I sacrifice the very things that bring joy to me.

" But if these years have taught me anything it is this: you can never run away. Not ever. The only way out is in .” ― Junot Díaz When thinking of 'escaping' I realized this quote is TRUE! Some of us know there is not a way to run away from life, or happenings in life. All you can do is go forward even if you have to go in and go through it.    SLOW DOWN YOU MOVE TOO FAST... You've got to make this moment last... "Feelin Groovy" by Simon and Garfunkel Our lives have become woven to the thought of instant gratification or instant results. The electronics we keep at our fingertips allow us to fly at high speed through life. We also know what EVERYONE else is doing in life every single day and suddenly their wor

Where is there a place for you to be? No place... Nothing outside you can give you any place... In yourself right now is all the place you've got .” ― Flannery O'Connor , Wise Blood .  Glancing back in Feb of 2010 comes this gorgeous rich painting filled with the colors of the west. I may be forgetting but was thinking this one went west across the Pacific. The paint is thick and the colors spoke of Sante Fe. We had visited there a few years before with my parents.    The painting is full of rotation both with the palette knife as well as with color. I started to search for a quote about going west... but I came acros

I love this painting. It was done in January of 2010. Looking back through at some favorites inspires me before I paint today.  I am starting a paint it forward piece for someone that needs inspiration and light and color in their lives right now. My art is a gift from God and it is a privilege to use it to lift up hope and love.    The Race is On I remember these days in my second most favorite studio, the one before the lake. We had purchased a 1955 home built by an architect that studied under Frank Lloyd Wright.  400 sq feet... in a house I could have lived in my whole life and loved. Curved walls, open space soaring ceilings... even the master bedroom had a spiral stair that went up to a library area.  The things coming out of my studio then were amazing... well s

I painted this for the youngest daughter of my dearest best friend in my life. Take the Netflix Series, Firefly Lane and start it with us being young moms with small children. Life was always better together and especially with Charlene and our kids. I cannot leave out MaryEllen Maddox. She was the dearest of our 'Nanny' members of our family. She was a student from Stephen F Austin State University and she helped with my children while I worked or had classes. My degree was finished but I wanted to teach and had to take some extra credits. MaryEllen was the best! We were all slightly crazy.
