A child is like an early spring bulb that carries all the resources needed within its skin for the first push through the soil towards the sun. And just as a little bit of water can start the bulb to grow, even through fissured rock, so can a little kindness give a child the ability to push through the dark .”     Kathleen Kent Having faith in a crisis is a good thing.  But it is something that must be grown and  cultivated with a confidence in God at all times , not just in times of crisis. It is important to be in a relationship with God at all times, through the good and through the bad in order to develop t

They take root in us as we grow, settling deep into our souls. The good words plant well. They flourish and find homes in our hearts. They build trunks around our spines, steadying us when we’re feeling most flimsy; planting our feet firmly when we’re feeling most unsure. But the bad words grow poorly. Our trunks infest and spoil until we are hollow and housing the interests of others and not our own. We are forced to eat the fruit those words have borne, held hostage by the branches growing arms around our necks, suffocating us to death, one word at a time. ” Tahereh Mafi Are you preparing your beds for spring and summer? We keep ours prepared all year around.  After the scorching summer heat, only mums can grow to the first freeze of winter, so Terry replen

No matter whether he is rich, provided he be independent. Regard the Honour and moral Character of the Man more than all other Circumstances. Think of no other Greatness but that of the soul, no other Riches but those of the Heart. An honest, Sensible humane Man, above all the Littlenesses of Vanity, and Extravagances of Imagination, labouring to do good rather than be rich, to be usefull rather than make a show, living in a modest Simplicity clearly within his Means and free from Debts or Obligations, is really the most respectable Man in Society, makes himself and all about him the most happy.” — JOHN ADAMS, LETTERS OF JOHN ADAMS, ADDRESSED TO HIS WIFE Legacies are truly important in our lives. From a young age we begin our memories with those older people in our lives.  How man

But they are there for a reason. Only when we have overcome them will we understand why they were there.” — PAULO COELHO, THE FIFTH MOUNTAIN Leaving the lake was not easy.  It was not about a better view or nature around us, but we wanted to be here and present for our grandchildren. With one next door, two only four blocks away and two more about 45 minutes away, we are here for a reason.  God is EVER present in our lives. We want to be present in their lives. We want to cheer them on and support them, to love them and watch them grow in God’s Spirit.
