This is another expression of FREEDOM! While I write about diet all the time... I will veer away from that.   But did you know that birth control by pill was approved by the FDA and it was released to the public in 1960?  One of the 'out of the box' things from the sixties.  The population at that time was   179,979,000.  Today it is  over 314 million.  Don't think those pills worked. We have not quite doubled in population. Our  national debt was 286.3 billion in 1960.  Today at the writing of this blog it is $17,573,178,726,315.34. Well, we have really stepped up the national debt WAY our of reach.   Here is a site with the Debt Clock.  Do not think

Awe - Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

AWE   © Laurie Pace 2014      © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 AWE  Size: 20 x 30  Oil on Canvas.Sold Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This is another blend of expressive color and still representational subject matter... ie the horse.   This sold directly from my home studio about 12 hours after I posted it on the blog.   In actions I am finishing up ON THE LAMB... and decided not to post progress pictures... because simply... most of it was painted straight in a 10 hour day... and touch ups after the main paint.  I am holding off till Saturday to post it! Meanwhile... what would it be like to play hooky from your every day life?  Yesterday I shared one dream of a Canadian Trek... hummm what comes to mind this morning. What are you suppose to do in your sixties?  Our CPA convinced us early retirement was the way to go and that is what we did. We have had fun living at the lake, and now back near the grands...but

Spring Princess by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Horse Painting and the unexpected.

Spring Princess   © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace   Graphics One Design 2014 Spring Princess  Size:20 x 30  Oil on Canvas SOLD. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  One of the horse rescues I support in South Dakota often shares photos with me and this was one of the horses she allowed me to paint. Obviously it is not the typical abstract, but more realism creeping through.  It sold right away as I finished the painting. There are many styles of painting and it is always a stretch to try something totally opposite from the norm.  I am beginning to think more like a kid the older I get.  What if I just want to drop it all and do something unexpected?  It might actually be fun.  Seems like Terry and I get stuck in a rut and we have forgotten how to have a 'blast'.   I know I just finished a painting that I will be posting this weekend entitled "On the Lamb".  I was totally out of the box on this one. Stacey was over and just watched c

Racing the Fence, Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie pace

Racing the Fence   © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace  Graphics One Design 2014 Racing the Fence  Size: 30 x 40   Oil on Canvas. SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This painting was sold from Mirada Fine Art in 2012.  It was a unique palette for me to paint in the dark golds and caramel browns against grey and white accented with blue and quinacridone orange.  The feeling was hurried...rushed, urgent.  Sometimes you can pass by a horse farm and see the horses running the fence line, and that is what inspired this painting.  There are many horse ranches in Argyle and Aubrey Texas. We lived in Argyle several years when I taught art at Argyle Middle School.  Horses were part of the local economy and the hillsides were full of lush pastures, trees and beautiful horses...well they are still like that today.  As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; Psalm 103:13 #horsepainting  #lauriepace

Continued Wolf Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 First Paint on Wolves, Final paint tomorrow...stay tuned! SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Well, I missed a usual step for me. Before the sketch I would have normally put on an acrylic wash. For some reason I was eager to jump in and sketch and jumped ahead.  When I began pulling my colors for the woods I started with a grey blue color and then built out with quinacridone gold, Prussian blue, Carmel Browns and a tiny bit of Titanium white. Tomorrow the wolves will be painted.   I had hoped to have it done for this Sunday blog, but it will be a Monday Post.  #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart Laurie Pace A Texas Artist   Subscribe to my studio update newsletter. Beginning Sketch Wolf Painting By Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Sketches on the Canvas for Wolf Painting   Size:30 x 40  SOLD. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This is the set up for my next wolf painting. I will post just one or two images of the progress and then the final.   Terry has just gone through his second corneal transplant.  My time is limited with the care required his first week or so from surgery.  We are hoping it goes as well this time as it did on his first eye. I does limit my presence in the studio as my time is spent keeping up the garden, the trees and the yard until he is back up and making it happen with watering, mowing, and tending to everything.  I get spoiled with his help and his cooking so I can paint and work on Visual Language Magazine.   So thankful for all we have. #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart Laurie Pace A Texas Artist   Subscribe to my studio update newsletter. Bowing to the Sun, Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Bowing to the Sun  Size: 24 x 24  Oil on Canvas. Sold Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  The journey is unknown. The painting was done in September of 2009 when I was still selling on Ebay. I stopped doing ebay sales the first part of 2010. This painting was bought by a collector in Canada and shipped to her five years ago. Last week I had an email through my website from a person in Toronto that had purchased the painting but it did not have a COA.  Fortunately the person was an interior designer and she knew my work when she bought the painting.  She sent me an image of it for me to confirm it but sent it with the painting sideways and for the life of me, it did not look like my painting. After about an hour going back and forth and searching sites, I remembered I had ARTIST BUTLER. .. where I keep track of my work.  Immediately I launched the program and went to the master list f

Pink Magnolias, Flower Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Pink Magnolias   Size: 28 x 36  Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This is pretty well the last shot of the magnolias. Here below is the older original. You can see they wanted more pink in the new one. I thought the older one had more gold and brown tones. Secondly the older one was 24 x 30 and not 28 x 36 so there is a variation in the composition...but it is slight.  The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:5 #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart Laurie Pace A Texas Artist   Subscribe to my studio update newsletter.
