She had bought several pieces of artwork from me and from my son Morgan, including a gorgeous Texas Flag he painted. She is a Texan transplanted to Europe and she was missing her roots! The Thought : Care thoughts are roaming around in my head. On Tuesday, Terry and I drove 135 miles round trip to take our dogs back to their original vet in Ponder, Texas. Dr Phil Henderson owns the Ponder Vet Clinic and he is absolutely the best in Texas. We had used a Dallas vet the past year living here in the city, but I struggled with all the extra meds they wanted my dogs on. The women at the clini

I did it during a class demonstration on watercolor several years ago. The Thought : I was reading Christian Fiction recently and part of one of the character's flaws was the 'gift' of manic depression. The Lord often has a serious sense of humor on these gifts. But truly it is one if you can embrace it. In every gift or challenge there is something there for us to receive and then give back to others. The character in the book referred to the 'handling' of the mood swings by comparing it to hills and valleys. Our life journey always has hills and valleys. That is a given we can agree o

Miss Emma is a young budding artist that lives many states north of Texas. She has a new room with new colors and her mom is a fabulous decorator, Gretchen Martini . I am honored Miss Emma will have one of my painted ponies in her room...and in return I get some of her art work, which I will hang and treasure. This is an oil painting that emerged spiritually onto a prepared canvas. The canvas had two layers of blue and Indian yellow paint on it. I began sketching and painting several days ago... and my prayers were centered in Emma and painting for her room. The Thought :

" 1 Peter 3:8 The Painting : Different strokes for different folks. It was a laid back two day period working on this light impressionistic piece. This is a 24 x 24 inch canvas and I used Holbein Duo Oils in multiple layers. Most of the area is in wide brush, but parts are in a 1/4 inch brush. The Thought : I was reading in 1 Peter when I came across this verse. Peter is sharing what is important for us in our lives, but taking it a step further is to realize what God has for us. This verse is a gentle verse speaking of open love. Our God is this and more. Our God is an awesome God. God is tough and tender. The paint does not respond in the same manner, but I am able to double up on my layers and the dimensional aspect of the subject. The Thought : I've got the Joy Joy Joy Joy down in my heart....that is a line from a song I sang with my children as they were growing up. What is joy to you? For my youngest son, joy should be every day having fun and living life. To my oldest son, joy is his buddies and time with that World Warfare game. Psalm 25:3 The Painting: An oldie from 2006. Fresh strokes of heavy oils created the movement of light in the sky casting the vivid brightness onto the water. Sky and water maintain the colors and the fluidity of the water appears to take over the clouds in the sky, all running closely together. The Thought: When you are anticipating something, are you waiting on God to do it His way or your way? I can answer that one...my way. I work really hard making things happen...not good huh? Yeah, I know, I have found out the hard way. Research tells me the Hebrew work 'qavah' means to bind together, look patiently, to wait or hope eagerly. The second close word in Hebrew is '

The Thought: We were driving down Forest Lane on our way home from Whole Foods and I saw the sign outside the Unity Church, "HAPPY HOUR" . Of course it was referring to the church service on Sunday. Then I was reading a magazine with little one liners that said, "Do you know what Happy Hour for the elderly is? An afternoon nap. Life not only begins at forty, it begins to show. It began with two soft layers of Indian Yellow with some dripping. Then the sketching out of the horse and the strength seem to spread across the composition before I realized it. It is one of those paintings it is hard to walk away from. The Thought : When we woke up this morning it felt good to have known I slept all night. It was such a small thing, but yesterday I was outside waiting for mom and the head construction crew man stopped to chat with me on the building next door.
