My mother's day present arrived yesterday.  I did not try it out yet because my ears are still stopped up from this head cold...but the kids bought me a new bose wave system and the soundlink is on it's way to pump my itunes into it.  Boy my studio will rock now! When things arrive in our lives they often cause other things to happen, be it positive blooming or sometimes difficult things to overcome.  God wants us to learn to ride that wave.  Do not fight it, but ride it.  Like being that leaf in a stream tousled by the waves and rocks.  We tend to get hurt in life when we fight things. God wants us to ride the wave. If we do that we will not be pulled under. Hopefully my new Wave will bring more music to my painting; smiles to m

Mountain Appaloosa, Painted Ponies 2011, Abstract Horse Paintings by Texas Equine Artist Laurie Pace, Joy in the Wind

The wild swings of joy and frustration of being age two reminded me that it was a mirror of what we often see in adults.  Night before last I crawled into bed, the last night Lady L would be here this trip...worn but happy.  Terry was in the den with Larry watching the latest episode of Top Gear, a favorite in our household. Stacey had fallen asleep a few hours earlier with

Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     Painted Ponies      On Golden Pond Blog Yesterday I first heard from Judy Mackey in Southlake, Texas.... "It is raining here." I replied, "Short hard rain, or long slow rain?" She answered back, "Looks like on and off rainy day maybe, lots of dark clouds." About an hour later Debbie Lincoln phoned from Morgan Mill, west of Southlake... "Hey it's cooler here..." I replied, "How cool is cooler?" She answered back, "It is only 97 degrees outside." Lord, Please it is time to release us from this heat wave. The entire month of August has been 100 degrees or more.  My day yesterday was a catch up day anyway.  I continued to remind myself to give Thanks for all my blessings, including the 'redos' popping up in my life.  Do

Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  I continued taking progressive shots with this painting. The Thought:  I promised the tale of the TOTO toilet...not for little ears. It is a very telling tale of the TOTO toilet.  When we moved in here we knew immediately we had to replace the toilet. Not only is it a Potty in a closet (Which is not needed) it was the smallest miniature potty I had ever sat on, and that includes Steve's sailboat toilet. So we did our normal thing and ordered a TOTO toilet from Kitchen Kings in Dallas . We have been buying appliances from them for over 12 years now.  We ordered the same one we put in the last house and it is taller for our taller height.  Morgan was so good to pick it up for us and bring it out last weekend.  He and Terry unloaded it from his truck to the garage for later installation. Terry noted that box was taped s

Prepaint Appy Oil Contact me for commissions. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This is the continuation of what I have been working on here in my new studio. Today I think I spent a large part of the time birdwatching at my new feeders.  Cardinals, Blue Jays, Wrens, Robins and in the distance on a tree, a red headed Wood Pecker. The Thought:  When Morgan and Kelly were here they teased us unmercifully about our 'change' .  At first they were dumbfounded as we sat at the lunch table filling them in on all the different birds we had seen... and then driving back into town, describing all the deer and the coyotes etc.  They laughed at us for what our conversation revolved around, nature, birds, deer, fishing, water and sailing.  We have lost our city like drab. No more talk about wrecks, robberies, sirens and police chases.  When we sat at lunch yesterday, Terry and I sat and watched the birds at the feeder for almost an hour e

Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  Leah sat and watched me sketch this off early afternoon yesterday .  This is on gesso board and will be done in a new technique I am using.  The sketch is not actually this dark but when I adjusted the photoshop image I brought it out for you to be able to see it. My surface is white and here looks speckled. That is due to the resolution I used. The Thought:  With this move I have not had near the time to dedicate to my painting as in the past . I am leaning toward both technique changes as well as changes in my mediums. I mentioned yesterday how easy it is to settle into  a routine and not vary from it.  The "known" is easy to handle and deal with.  Predictability has been established and routine is followed without a second thought, or even sometimes a first thought.  Letting go of the known and the &#

It was snowing when we got up and we HAD to go out in it of course. I needed to make the grocery store for a huge package of ground beef to make the dogs food. We lucked out and got a BUY IT NOW huge package for only $3.00. They will eat well the next five days. I use my big soup pot and fill it with about 8-9 cups of water. To that water as it begins to heat to a boil I add garlic and onion diced, and any left over veggies from the frig. Today it was small grape tomatoes, yellow squash, broccoli, black beans, and of course carrots. I also drop some vitamin D drops in the mixture along with a 1/4 cup of Olive Oil. When this comes to a boil, we add four cups of brown rice. You let this cook until the rice is done. At this point you add either chopped up chicken that you boiled and debo
