'The First Race of Spring' 24 x 36  Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This is the finish of The First Race of Spring.... brilliant color and lots of action. The Thought:  A hard Days work....my thoughts are here because that is what my dear husband put in yesterday and he was not planning on doing at all what he did.  Early yesterday the Dish TV folks shows up and he hit it right on target for where he moved the pole. The Installer helped clip a few more branches on the trees and presto, an hour later we had TV... first time in over a month. Then Lowe's arrived with the new over the stove microwave and the new dishwasher.  From eleven that morning until nine last night... he worked his fingers numb installing both of these things. He also had to rip out the old things and rebuild part of the cabinets.  There is something special in a hard day of work... the sati

'Call of the Wild Mustang' Equine Horse Art Oil Daily Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This one was painted last month and was suppose to ship to the Denver show... I sent The Answer to the Call of the Wild instead... so this one is still available to purchase. The Thought:  The Call ... humm, wonder why my brain went there with this one?   There are many times in our lives we are moved to action by something.  What motivates you? What makes  you go after something?  God already knows that, and He is constantly putting things out there for you, but are you answering the call? My Daddy would tell me to make a list before I answered the call.   My mother would tell me to follow my heart.  There is more risk following my heart but the journey has been incredible. God wants us to take the risk and simply believe in HIM and follow the call.   It is pretty simple and truly with out risk

Block up painting of Flowers by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

Block up of flowers of the easel... Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This is another BLOCK up prep canvas of something to come.  Hydrangea of course. The Thought:  It was a long day yesterday and we got in pretty late with moving Terry's tools from the hanger home to the garage here in Mt Vernon. I took pictures and will try and post them on Tuesday or Wednesday morning.   I had quite a few comments about the storm blog yesterday.  Our storm came in the middle of the night... one of those you can't see coming until you see the lightening on the horizon.  I think the scariest ones for me are the ones that come in the middle of the day. You can be out on the lake sailing like crazy and suddenly the wind dies.... it becomes deathly still and you turn around to darkness descending faster than you can turn that boat to head for shore, tacking back and forth seeking the lost wind... and

'In Awe' Equine Horse Art Daily Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'In Awe' 20 x 30  Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  Worked on this painting in the dark yesterday. Well it wasn't too dark in my painting area as it opens with six huge windows onto the backyard and the pond!  We had no electricity. It went out in the middle of the night Friday night when a huge storm came through around 2 am. Of course we were a bit unprepared for this storm and we do not have a back up generator. The Thought:   Unprepared for the storm.  Life is good about changing constantly.  No matter how much we try to be prepared for the worst of things (way to often) we are never ready when the storms blow in for their intensity or their duration.  We are unable to prepare to handle the domino affect of strong winds, lightening, and massive amounts of rain.  Destruction, downed wires, fires from the lightening, collapsed homes, fences and downed trees from

'Collecting Shells' 30 x 40  Oil on Canvas New York Crystal Charity Ball Donation for Auction. Raising funds for Diabetes Research.  Contact me for commission work. Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  Easier to watch! This painting was created to raise funds for Diabetes Research. The Thought:    Do you think it is important to take time for yourself?  Sometimes I think it should be a mantra ... 'TIME FOR ME'.  Of course that is after 'TIME FOR HIM'... and I mean time for God, not for your husband.   I heard some country western song.. . btw, that is all I seem to pick up on my radio here...about a CW singer croaning out the story of 'It's all about you..."  and he wants to say it needs to be about him now as he is weary of the "all about you" syndrome of his girlfriend.   I don't know where he found that woman, but the women in my family are not that way.  We are ca

'Prepaint Appy' Appaloosa Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Prepaint Appaloosa no DP OIL Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  I continued taking progressive shots with this painting. The Thought:  I promised the tale of the TOTO toilet...not for little ears. It is a very telling tale of the TOTO toilet.  When we moved in here we knew immediately we had to replace the toilet. Not only is it a Potty in a closet (Which is not needed) it was the smallest miniature potty I had ever sat on, and that includes Steve's sailboat toilet. So we did our normal thing and ordered a TOTO toilet from Kitchen Kings in Dallas . We have been buying appliances from them for over 12 years now.  We ordered the same one we put in the last house and it is taller for our taller height.  Morgan was so good to pick it up for us and bring it out last weekend.  He and Terry unloaded it from his truck to the garage for later installation. Terry noted that box was taped s

Pre Paint for Appaloosa Painting No DP Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  Leah sat and watched me sketch this off early afternoon yesterday .  This is on gesso board and will be done in a new technique I am using.  The sketch is not actually this dark but when I adjusted the photoshop image I brought it out for you to be able to see it. My surface is white and here looks speckled. That is due to the resolution I used. The Thought:  With this move I have not had near the time to dedicate to my painting as in the past . I am leaning toward both technique changes as well as changes in my mediums. I mentioned yesterday how easy it is to settle into  a routine and not vary from it.  The "known" is easy to handle and deal with.  Predictability has been established and routine is followed without a second thought, or even sometimes a first thought.  Letting go of the known and the &#

Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  So soft and peaceful! The Thought:  Fishing.  That is my thought for the morning.  Yesterday Morgan and Kelly arrived with our new TOTO toilet.  I fixed a big lunch of baked chicken, sweet potatoes, corn and homemade cheese and garlic biscuits. OH yes and an OMA salad with everything from a to z in it covered with a delicate raspberry glaze.   It was while we were eating Morgan decided we needed fishing poles so off to the store we went and bought three poles.  Two zebco and one brand I did not know.   After a three hour period of fishing and two rain showers thrown in there

'Early Sunflowers' Floral Art Sunflower Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Early Sunflowers' 9 x 12  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  I liked this one as I painted it. It has set me off to explore another approach to the canvas.  I also tried it with a few horse pieces as well.  Watch for them as I finish them up this week.  The Thought:  Jill, a friend for the past few years from blogging made a comment about doctors, prescriptions and life in general in her email to me.  She mentioned she tells her doc to keep it quick and there is only so much money available for the visit.  I had just found out that a basic visit for my doc was $94, and then it escalates with everything you mention in the visit all the way up to $249. Of course with every "mention" there are tests that must be run and with every test, return visits with another basic $94 charge plus anything extra you visit about.    Jill laughingly wrote that her doctor wrote

'Mexican Hat Flowers' Floral art Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Mexican Hat Flowers' 16 x 20  Oil on Canvas SOLD PRIVATE COLLECTION Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: From the Archives 2003 The Thought:  Moving is painful. If I have found internet there will be precious thought from me, and if not you will be reading these words and knowing by now things are not going well. I am logging in quickly with an update...as the above was written this weekend on Easter Sunday before they took apart my big MAC computer.  Terry hopes to have me back online tomorrow.  I hope to paint something tomorrow too...so maybe I can post something new! Kitchen is unpacked 50%.  Bedroom is only at 25%. I keep looking for my boxes of clothes and we figured out all of mine are in Sheriff Fletchers Barn.  Have to go visit them.  The seasons are changing here.  Spring is leading to warmer days.   Leah is totally unpacked of course. Will try to get some snap shots.

It is at the gallery for the show coming up and priced very reasonably. The Thought: Not much but tired tired tired.   The house is 98% packed.. the garage is at 60%. This is a day that we will be a day with family and only a bit of final packing up.  Church in a few moments with my mom for sunrise service and breakfast..then late lunch with Terry's family.  Then home to pack the rest. I pray for you all on this powerful day of celebration.  This day of all days is one of my favorites and brings me to tears of love and gratitude. Be embraced with this power in your life and accept the greatest gift our Father has given us.  Laurie " For God so loved the world that he gave his o

'A Life Time Journey' Equine Abstract Art by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'A Life Time Journey' 30 x 30  Oil on Canvas Commission Painting SOLD Contact me for commission work. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This was painted for a special friend and it has been a journey in itself!  I am posting it out to her today and we will celebrate at it's arrival. The Thought:  Boxes surround us.  We are staying the course and fighting the battle of time.  Terry spent three hours partially grooming dogs and realized his scissors were packed.   I think it is avoidance disorder. He does not want to face the garage and he has only 48 hours left and the movers will be here.  I finished up the kitchen. I need to order one more group of Book Boxes and some more for the garage that he has not even started.  Won't know how many to get because he has not started. He is a sweetheart.  He told me three days ago I had not seen him in action and he was going to be so organized I would not recognize him.  Hon

'Montana' Landscape Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Montana' 24 x 30  Oil on Canvas SOLD PRIVATE Collection Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: An oldie. We are packing packing packing and the paints were packed today. The Thought: I was reading something on Productivity .  Is there productivity in your life? Every business is into profit and earnings.  We constantly measure productivity even in our personal lives. How much equity has the house earned or lost in the past two years?  How many 'A's" on the child's report card? How many things do we cross off our today list?  Productivity is good to a point in our lives as it helps us evaluate our performance and achievements.  The bible defines it not only in terms of numbers but by relationships and our character.  The most important thing is the bottom line of our character.  Are you producing "good fruit" in your life? Could you do more to produce "

Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:   We are into the packing very heavily and I promised to only paint acrylic. This is one of my new small ones. The Thought: Do you have creativity in your life? How do you define creativity? It is basically a fashioning or shaping or conceiving or something unique. Usually as we are creating, we become absorbed into what we are fashioning. There is a delicate balance of being and becoming as you create. Usually when I paint, it has a satisfying feeling and a joy that is unexplainable.   We like being creative. Of course God is the best example of creativity.  Look how diverse He was as he created the world and all within.  I think He definitely had a sense of humor as well. God continues to redefine and recreate us every single day.  The transformations we make are all part of His creative plan.  When the Holy

'Together Through The Journey' Equine Abstract Art Horse Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Together Through the Journey' 30  x  30  Oil on Canvas SOLD THE DAY IT POSTED! THANK YOU! Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: I finished this painting last week.  Lots of earthy feel and colors as the horses are woven into their environment. The Thought: When I was painting this piece, I was thinking of how horses often blend into their environment.  Horses are either at peace, or they are rather hyper and on the move. Here in Texas it is common for them to be part of the landscape rather than on the landscape. This is true of the nature of God with in us. He is indwelling and filling us with peace and serenity. He is woven through out our being.  We are often unaware of the true peaceful state of our souls when we are constantly pushing through the day creating our own chaos.  I believe in meditation and finding that quiet time of reflection and just being... totally just being. The s

'At the Ocean' Child portrait on the Beach by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

'At The Ocean' 24 x 36  Oil on Canvas Available through the Dutch Art Gallery, Dallas Texas Contact Pam Contact me for commission Work. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 (What is she gazing off thinking about?) The Painting: Just about finished!  I started this painting this past weekend and worked on it on and off on Saturday and Sunday and then finished it this afternoon. I will live with it another day and do touch ups and then it will be in the show coming up at the Dutch Art Gallery. The Thought: I have been reading from the book I began last week about living in the NOW to Terry.  It sounds simplistic but of course is not.  The more we share in the book we discuss the reality of how much we truly allow the past and future to control our now.  When you live in the now you are embracing God's choices for you and knowing these are right choices despite how you perceive the situation.  Our perception is always shadowed by the past an

'Fleeting Moment' Woman portrait Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Fleeting Moment'   Oil on Canvas Private Collection Contact me for commission work. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This piece resides up near Boston.  It survived a house fire I am told and may come home to be refurbished.   The Thought :  I know there are many of you out there that keep the perfect house ....and are so punctual and good about cleaning.  My sister Jan is for sure.  She is older and much wiser and from her I have learned so much about life and cleaning. She came to help me move once and I marveled as she scrubbed down Terry's filthy coffee pot.  I am not one to even touch the machine as I do not drink coffee, but she firmly removed all the old coffee stains and shined it right up and then attacked the toaster, which I do use. I am so caught up in my work in the studio I become ignorant to things like this in the kitchen. I am totally anal about scrubbing bathrooms clean, sinks and counters in th

'Guadalupe River' Landscape River Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Guadalupe River' 24 x 30  Oil on Canvas Private Collection Contact me for commission work.  Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: Another painting from the archives.  Enjoy this beauty and feel the serene presence of peace. The Thought:  Were you ever faced with something in life that made you hesitate and even be slightly fearful?  It could truly be almost anything now days.  The media is truly playing up everything around the world to get our attention with warnings of chaos and tales of doom.  It is how they make money in their business by their ratings on TV and the advertisers who will pay the big bucks for the evening news slots for ads.  Looking at the world today, there seems to be huge problems ahead according to the media. It is easy to be led into a fearful place if you watch the news on a daily basis . Problem here in Texas is the every changing weather and if you don't watch the news you will have no clue whe

'Before the Crucifixion' Portrait in History, Christ Jesus Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Before The Crucifixion' 24 x 30  Oil on Canvas Private Collection Contact me for Commission work. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting :  This is from almost ten years ago. I came across the files and wanted to share it.  We are in the season of Lent... in preparation for Easter and Christ's Resurrection. The Thought:   I do not know why I did not paint more in this series. I think I did three pieces.  This seems to be the only one I can still find on disk.  It was done well before the Mel Gibson Version of the Passion of the Christ.   The pain depicted in the painting was even too much for the person I painted it for.  They said it physically hurt to view it, but you know, maybe it should. It was definitely not a picnic type situation.  The burden He bears for us is not light and could not be depicted that way either. I enjoyed forming and painting the characters of each of the men and women surrounding Christ in this scene.

'Chloe' 20 x 30  Acrylic on Canvas She is soft and gentle. Private Collection SOLD Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting :   Don't know what drove me to pink , but I can only guess subconsciously I knew Tink was coming today.   A sweet gentle Chloe is a rescue horse at the Goldwaith Horse Rescue here in Texas. The Thought: Yesterday Terry and I drove over to ULINE to pick up boxes for packing .  I dislike the freeway very much.  I always check my iphone for traffic problems before we get on and then with clenched hands I try hard to think of positive things.  It seems like every time we are on the entrance ramp to pull out into the first lane, there is solid traffic in that first lane and NO ONE wants to let you in.   I remember taking the KY driving test when we moved there twenty years ago and that was a test question.  If you are in that lane you adjust your speed slightly to allow a c
