It was an exciting five days of competition in one of the most beautiful places in New York in the Hudson River Valley. We drove up from East Texas to enjoy the festivities and Kimberly and Don Conrad flew in from Denver to join us. We were allowed access to areas by the jumpers to film and photograph the horses, we attended many of the extra curricular activities, and we met up with other artists and painters living in that area that we knew from online at The Daily Painters.  It was a tremendous trip. The Conrads joined us at an open field concert by John Fogerty where we sat under cloudy skies with soft rains and occasional bursts of stars.  We spent hours driving the country side for views of the Hudson River

The unending summer heat in Texas is dragging us all down. The garden is burned up, the trees have to be deep watered constantly and we are now not mowing because the only way the yard will survive is not mowing low. Terry has been using the deep water probes moving them throughout the yard so no water is lost through evaporation using our sprinkler system.  I am waiting for a reminder letter from our HOA to mow. The endless days of 105-110 degrees (feels like 5-10 degrees higher with the humidity) curtails outdoor activities, including swimming after 2 pm. or even being outside to walk in the evenings at seven when the temps are still 107 outside. The heat and closeness in the house with drapes closed to bar the western sun, makes the day seem unending. I love barefoot in the grass.

DEAD or ALIVE? Terry brought me dead flowers this morning.... Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Terry brought me in cut flowers this morning!  I was thrilled....Dead flowers, are they really dead?   Absolutely NOT!  Through death they provide the seeds for new blooms in our lives.   ( By the way... these are Zinnias) There is always a gift or legacy that survives a person's death as well, and new things to grow. Memories always remain, some dimming with the years. The trust and love of someone dear that has left us through death journeying on to Heaven,  encourages us to live forward and carry on the the very things we have learned in life from them.  Only three out of our seven grandchildren knew my Dad.(His great grandchildren) He lived a life always serving others and I pray the seeds he planted served every family well. We lost one of these grandchildren when he w

Five Red Blooms.... are they roses? Fireflies in Missouri with Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Notice the vase and the background fade from the lighter pink mashing of colors to the neutrals one the left side and the shadows of turquoise and deep pink. The flowers are brilliant as they pop out at you and the greens are lush and hold their own alone. Did you gravitate at all to the dark black planted spaces?   Makes me want to go paint right now!!! I would lean to Hydrangea or Iris... or wait... I know, I would be  Zinnias.  When I was a young

" Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Purkey   This painting "Dancing in the Moonlight" lives in Florida. It was painted just before we moved out of Dallas for East Texas.  I love horses and I love watching them dance and play with each other. This horse is dancing with the night sky above him. His mane is whipping in several directions at the same time. Stretching his head high and then low... he enjoys the sounds and beauty of the night sky.  The Night Until we lived on the lake, I never saw the night sky like I did over those three years. We had lived out in the countr
