The one that holds my attention the most was "Take your hands off your life".  Whatever you are facing, juggling, or trying to resolve, stop and take your hands off and disengage your problem solving skills.  How can something so simple be so hard? " True faith is living without scheming. "      In the verse below that has those precious words we have heard thousands of times, BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD...    The Hebrew word translated "be still" actually means "take your hands off."

Between the pull of their power and beauty is a tenderness and a huge heart. When I think of wild horses running in the wind, I want to paint!  So it really touched my heart when one of my fellow artists commented to me on FB the following:  “ God bless you, Laurie, in this storm of life. Be as strong as your wild and wonderful horses. Thinking of you." Sylvia  God gifted these horses with stamina, strength, grace, speed, courage and most of all with heart. Pain

There are those on the floor making their lives among the heads of lions and hoops of fire, and those in the stands, complacent and wowed, their mouths stuffed with popcorn." Christopher Hawk The Unnatural Truth. With those 'winds of change' flying through our lives right now, sometimes you believe you might stop and question who you are and where you stand in a situation. I was calmed totally by scripture and knowing God stepped into my life to make an abrupt right turn for me.  We took the day to catch up on groceries in the bare refrigerator.

The wind in our lives can sometime usher in storms. Who controls the wind?  He does. So when we are sailing smoothly through our lives, we often forget the wind may change at any time; it could bring calm and peace, or the rush of storms.  We have very little 'control' in our lives when it comes to life.  We have choices and sometimes those are good and sometimes they are not.  The one major thing we can control is our reactions to the events in our lives

Sleeping Cowboy . Ernest Hemingway . Sunday, a day of rest . Western Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway  I really enjoyed painting this scene. It was restful to me as the artist  and loved by our friends.  Sunday is the day of rest. I smiled when I found this in archives and thought it perfect for this day.  If you live in Texas you know that we still have 'rules' about not selling liquor before noon.  If you live in Texas and are in your late thirties and up, you might even remember Blue Laws.   Stores were simply NOT open on Sunday. You had to grocery shop and be prepared and there were not malls filled with open sto

Sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else. Sometimes it involves giving up everything you have ever known, or everyone you have ever loved, for the sake of something greater.   But sometimes it doesn't.   Sometimes it is nothing more than gritting your teeth through pain, and the work of every day, the slow walk toward a better life.  That is the sort of bravery I must have now.” Veronica Roth   Bravery.  A strong word when it means laying down your life for something bigger than yourself.  As the Son of God, this is everything that Jesus did. I am never going back there again!” Lewis Carroll    I was giggling last night remembering some of the past things in life I did that make me shake my head and wonder what crawled into my brain at that time. Did I ever mention the time I dated five boys named Bill?  Or, that I was hired as a model at Neiman Marcus just three days after I was turned down at age 16 to be a waitress at a high class tea room?  I know when they turned me down I hit a wall feeling so dejected, and God turned it right around and I modeled runway, commercial work and photography until I was 34. I am waiting for a new adventure and I know the

But in the end, it's always their actions you should judge them by. It's actions, not words, that matter.” Nicholas Sparks The latest discussion from last night on some of the message from Sunday was similar to you are what you eat.  You are what you think. You are what you watch. Basically what you chose to focus on in your mind and heart is basically who you really are.   Where do you spend your time when you are not at work?  Television? Books?
