© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Progress on Mixed Media Hearts 30 x 40 inches Mixed Media on canvas  Pushed a little further last night... still watching where this grows as it develops a spirit of its own. Longing for something lately? Are you looking for hope? Are their bills piling up or commitments threatening to bury you?  What are you desiring in your heart that would make you feel JOY? As humans we long to hope for things our lives. Are we hoping for things that are valuable in this world?  Use this time to grow closer to God. Desire his love and light in your life. His light will shine over the darkness of your sins.     Make me know Your ways, O Lord:   Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me,  For You are the God of my salvation;  For You I wait all the day. Progress on Hearts by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Heart Paintings

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Progress on Five Hearts  30 x 40 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  I began to work on collaging papers over the Bible and Narnia pages. This type of work has it's own path and often I have to step back and let it go on its own.  Please watch each day for progress here OR a new giveaway.  I have everyone that entered for the 12 Days of Christmas and there are five more paintings to give away.  So check back each day. I will list the winners with the 12 Days of Christmas winners. Mary said:   “My being proclaims the greatness of the Lord,  my spirit finds joy   in God my savior,   For he has looked upon   his servant in her lowliness;  all ages to come shall   call me blessed.   God who is mighty   has done great things for me,  holy is his name;  His mercy is from age to age  on those who fear him. My husband and I spend time with our advent wreath doing a reading

Heart to Heart Beginnings, Mixed Media Heart Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Heart to Heart 5 Commissioned Painting  30 x 40 inches Mixed Media on Canvas. SOLD  I took a bit of time choosing the Bible pages to put down on the base foundation of this piece and on top of those woven across are pages from the Chronicles of Narnia. The basic premise here are three hearts representing three children, but my deep feel is to do five hearts to include the parents... so I am working with fives as this begins to unfold. There are five hearts in Narnia built on top of the Bible and there are five waves across the top of the composition and two on the left side and three on the right side. Again the Spirit begins to build and the painting takes on its own personality.  More about Baby John and his birth from Luke and the 'Spirit' that fills this newborn babe.  " And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;     for you will go on befor

Completion of Reverence to the Sun, a Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Reverence to the Sun  30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD  I am still adding 'salt and pepper' to the surface and balancing things out. I have sent it to the collectors by images and I do believe we are about finished. Hope you enjoy this one as much as I did doing it. I have another day left working on the sides and then waiting to varnish it. Without expectations, this horse painting came to life with a strong spirit. Extraordinary independent spirit. Below are some verses from Luke describing the birth of the baby to Elizabeth. Remember that the father Zechariah was made mute by the Lord when he doubted what the Lord could do... so he carried around a tablet to communicate. When the baby was born everyone knew the proud parents would name him Zechariah after his father. They were older parents and this was obviously something extraordinary.  When it was time for El

Day Four Reverence to the Sun Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Reverence to the Sun 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD  This horse painting is truly weaving together a very strong presence on this canvas. Brilliant colors blending and mixing with the layering of paint. I am smiling with the joy that seems to come from the surface as I imagine this great horse stopping to bow his head to the brilliance of the morning sun over the Rockies.  "And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord      and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,  for he has been mindful     of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,      for the Mighty One has done great things for me—     holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him,   from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;     he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brough

Reverence to the Sun, Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Reverence to the Sun 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD  I get excited when the layering truly begins to define the horse and the spirit of the horse. The paints always mix together differently and the flow of energy varies with the climate outside the studio... God's influence always constant with every stroke of the knife. Spreading from the face through the powerful neck. The collector wanted defined muscles and movement with the stillness. I am not sure of the title, but this is what seems to feel like it fits, Reverence to the Sun. Sometimes the spirit just overtakes us in life and we burst forth with song or exclamations of thanks... Have you felt that this Holy Season? Usually I am breaking out in song and praising Him as I do. Even at the mall today with Lady L, choirs were performing Christmas carols and hymns and we were singing along. In a loud voice she exclaimed

Day 2 Commissioned Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Day Two Commission Horse Painting 30 x 30  inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD  This day I began laying in the basic white layers on the body and could not wait to start the face. The Golden Rod Horse Painting had a hint of an eye but nothing truly there developed and the face seemed to be without expression.  Following the rhythm of the work to jazz tunes today, the face begins to take form on this commissioned horse painting. Friends from Kansas were visiting this past weekend and on Sunday morning at breakfast before church, we shared the lighting of our first advent candle. (Terry and I light one each morning and share out advent and bible study together)  Gary, who was visiting with his wife Ruby, was preparing to teach a Sunday School lesson on Mary and Elizabeth. I had bought Ruby and I the newest book by Liz Curtis Higgs " The Women of Christmas."  He had decided Saturday night

Beginnings of a commissioned Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Just a quick update note... There are so many wonderful people in the drawings each day for the 12 Days of Christmas... I am going to offer a few more drawings coming soon. I will keep your names in the drawing if you were not a winner, so watch for some new pieces available for you to win.   © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Commissioned Painting for Collector  through Mirada Fine Art Denver  30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD  Golden Rod was a painting completed in 2012 for my opening show at Mirada Fine Art in Denver.  The painting sold the first week it was there. A collector saw images of it this fall and truly was in love with certain aspects of the painting, so I consented to paint one similar. I always worry about the spirit of a second horse painting, but after just adding the background here, I knew it was already an independent horse painting. My job will be to allow it to develop on it's own and not to loo

This is where I left off but for me it is too defined... YET..there is a spiritual feel to the softness of this piece. The piling on of layers of experience and paper and color blend together to weave an interesting texture and style.  Today will be more experimenting on it. Part of me realizes I have to trust what is evolving and not wipe it out to try my own way.  “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the
