They will be here Friday to pick up both paintings!  I love putting these two together knowing where they are going and knowing they will be part of positive energy at the Kids Korral House . The second painting is an extension of the first painting and I have titled it "Together Fearless". https://www.tobykeithfoundation.org/ I do not know about you in life, but sometimes some of us step into things without thinking in an attempt to accomplish something. When there are two, you are strong but when they are three you are unbreakable.  The first painting I use a combination of three horses, this one is two but when you see them side by side, tomorrow's blog, you will see two lead to be followed by three. Having a Birthday

My awesome parents. Mom and me. No painting to share this day, but a prayer of thanksgiving for the two wonderful parents that brought me into this world and raised me with the Father's love. My parents were pretty exceptional people, even while I was growing up. My mom always went the extra mile on those dad gum science projects and, I did actually learn how to make water run up hill.   My dad had the ability to guide me to answers in life by making his infamous LIST.  I painfully learned to make my own lists and to this day, that is usually how I have to arrive at those difficult to make decisions. On this birthday I celebrate life, family and love. I give thanks for the gift of great parents, and I give thanks for all the wonderful gifts the Father has blessed me with to make this journey.   Terry and I in the summer of 1966. Terry and I sharing our lives.... Our children.  My girlfriends, Debbie and Victoria. Old friends and cousins

Textures, the Last Element of Art by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Line Shape Form Space Value  Color Texture "Texture adds quality to a painting and makes it appear more realistic. Texture draws the eye of a viewer – dry brushing, sponging-on, spattering with paint-loaded brush... Spattered dots become the 'diamonds' that add sparkle even in the darkest shadows. " George Politis Texture is the quality of a surface, often corresponding to its tactile character, or what may be sensed by touch. Texture may be used, for example, in portraying fabrics. It can be explicitly rendered, or implied with other artistic elements such as lines, shading, and variation of color.  Tonight the pineapples will be started by my students. Last week we finished up color and did not even make it to the pineapples... but I have painted mine ahead to share in the lesson. I chose the pineapple because of the layering of so many textures and the diversity of their differences.   The pre painting I did for an example is what you are seein

SOLD  We have had cloudy skies with heaviness but not much rain, but I cannot get a decent shot of the paintings. This is after I have gone in and tweaked a few area and added some Lavender. If you look up now, you will see it on the nose of the front horse, down the neck and on the back.  Also it swept through the main of the back horse and two places on the ground. With some black I anchored in a few places, but that is NOT black on the rump of the horse...that is 'impossible' to shoot  with no good indirect lighting.  This is the first of the two pieces for the Kids Korral in Oklahoma.  https://www.tobykeithfoundation.org/index.php?contact Be apart of something bigger than yourself. On the  tunes right now is "me too" by Toby Keith. I am eager to start the second painting and see if I can tie the same energy into it continuing the weave of this one across to the sister canvas.      © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 On a Quest 36 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD  https://www.tobykeithfoundation.org The name came to me as I pushed to this point. It has to be 'On a Quest'.  The energy and colors compiling on this contemporary horse painting give forth the energy of horses running... not running for their lives, but in quest.  They are on a quest. The journey is not a predictable one, but they are confident in what surround them and the herd that travels together.  With trust and love the journey is always easier, even in the hardest times. Having people not only lift you up but support you and surround you with their energy and love make all the difference in the world.  Here is something from Wikipedia on Toby Keith .  He and his wife are the people behind this wonderful foundation. This is about his beginnings in early life. You will see why Oklahoma and the people of Oklahoma are his extend
