San Jacinto Horse Painting Journey by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2012 The San Jacinto Horse Painting Journey with Texas Artist Laurie Pace 8 x 5 Ft Oil on Canvas SOLD Commission More piles and pulls of paint are sweeping over the horses in what is about the fourth of fifth layer of colors. I do not even want to think about the cost of the paint in these horse paintings... I only care about the spirit of the paint.  Words of my heart. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.  John 12:24 The zinnias are winding down outside... and I captured this shot of one that has turned to seed.  If you grow them, you can take the head of the zinnia and save the petal like seeds to plant more next year.   My Blog     My Website       Giclees on Canvas, Prints and Cards        The Five Graces      The Artists of Texas        Daily Painters        CFAI

Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2012 The San Jacinto River Horse Painting Journey  with Texas Equine Artist Laurie Pace 8 x 5 Ft Oil on Canvas Sold Commission  I work back and forth between the different sides of the canvas. I literally pull paint from one side to the other inner weaving the colors to keep them constant across the painting.  Strength is important as I build.  Continue the journey with me tomorrow. Words of my Heart So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.  1 Corinthians 3:7 Brilliant contrast of colors with this deep red and green annual under my crepe myrtle tree. Reminds me of the upcoming holidays and Christmas but this plant only has a few more weeks to bring joy to our vision before it withers from the cold.   Read more by clicking here. San Jacinto River Crossing A journey in a horse painting with Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2012 San Jacinto River Crossing  A journey in a horse painting  with Texas Artist Laurie Pace 8 x 5 ft Oil on Canvas SOLD Commission  I really got excited bringing to life horse four and five in this composition. A horse painting always explodes with energy in my studio and what seems to be uncontrolled colors.  Stay with me as we go. Words of my heart... The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ.  Galatians 3:16 As fall has arrived and our nights are cooling off to the mid forties and low fifties, much of our plant life and trees are beginning their journey to dropping leaves and seeds.  This is a branch off my crepe myrtle tree against the gorgeous blue sky.   © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2012 San Jacinto River Progress Horse Painting 8 x 5 ft Oil on Canvas SOLD commission This is the part of the painting that begins to make me get excited... almost like giving birth as these horses come alive in this composition. I am a day ahead in painting from these pictures so I know what they turned out like... and you will know soon. Words of my Heart One day Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi said to her, “My daughter, I must find a  home  for you, where you will be well provided for. Ruth 3:1 Much in our conversation is about our home.  We have saved up some money to take down the fenced area that Paddy roams in and want to re-fence an area for him and open up the backyard. Terry still wants to work on the retaining wall and reclaim some of the lost land that has filtered slowly into Golden Pond. Do we spend the money or wait....wait upon the Lord? I have switched to my larger palette knife. It is not the largest, but this is one I like working with. The excitement continues to build with the contrast and blending of colors and paint and the personalities of the horses in this painting begin to surface and take shape.  This type of horse painting is an incredible journey.   Words of my heart... “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”   1 Peter 5:8-9 It has become a tough journey in our home as we begin month four of plant based diet. Occasional chicken and tuna hits our life

Again I have covered the back with a soft layer of Parchment Acrylic to keep anything not covered from sparkling white out to the viewers eyes.  I am wanting to keep this painting different than the other painting.  These are for a law office and will be hanging close so I do not want them to be paw paints of each other. The client like the horses in a prior painting entitled The Watering Hole (24 x 36 and at Mirada Fine Art in Denver) so I used a similar patterning for the composition and added a  fifth horse to vary things. “For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that

It is huge in my studio and I am not able to light the far top right corner for you to see the balance in the painting.  I see spots that need more work and  that is where I will be working next. Psalm 16:11 Fall is creeping in and the leaves are turning... the golds and reds are salting and peppering across the piney greens.  It is a glorious time to walk and enjoy God's beauty surrounding us.  We have much to celebrate and give thanks for. Shared thoughts from my heart... God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. Genesis 1:4 A good friend sent me a writing from one of her favorite sites and it created a lengthy discussion between Terry and I. Reflecting on the principles in art and composition light requires an opposite to make it appear strong in the composition. Perhaps that is true in life for each of us. The shadows of our lives plays an important part in the effects of the lights in our lives. One cannot exist without the other. Read more here.
