The Warrior ~ Horse Abstract Art Painting by Laurie Pace

24 x 30 inches Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace " He had great success in everything he did because the Lord was with him ." 1 Samuel 18:14 A Painting a Day: It started with the thought of grey blue and doing a quiet painting with maybe misty white horses advancing from the grey blue din behind. As you see it didn't pan out that way at all. Layers and layers of grey blue acrylic began the process with movements of violet dashing in and out. As the white layers came to play, it was evident it could not be a quiet painting as color seems to burst out of my work unplanned. Golden Acrylics and Liquitex Acrylics are both so thick and buttery... it almost makes it fun! For those of you that love my work but the larger pieces are out of range, I have decide to do a series of smaller pieces that will be available at $100-150. Watch for them soon. My Thought for the Day: There is a point in biblical history where Israel is getting clobbered
A Painting a Day ~ River Crossing ~ Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Pace 20 x 24 x 2 inches Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie " We are people of flesh and blood. That is why Jesus became one of us. " Hebrews 2:14 A Painting A Day : Contemporary Abstract Art , this painting embraces the contrast of color. Cool layers of blues were laid out on the canvas first, followed by the yellows. I knew the greens would emerge as the overlays began. The small accents of red and orange are like "spices" in your food. They bring out the movement of the composition accenting it just in balance to treat the eye and keep it exploring the painting. Golden Acrylics were used as paint; there was no impasto used...just thick paint. My Daily Thought: I know I have written before about my favorite phrase. "If People would just do their jobs...." That is my cry of frustration I can't seem to replace. I need to stop and put myself in the place of the person
A Painting a Day ~THREE UP ~ Palette Knife Oil Painting Horse Art by Laurie Pace Three Up 48 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for commission work: Laurie © Laurie Pace 2009 “ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. ” Romans 15: 13 A Painting A Day: Contemporary horses created with layers of palette knife paint, oils and impasto are apart of this painting. This was a commission piece for a very special doctors office opening here in Dallas. Color and energy are all apart of the healing process...waking the body to the "good news" of life through empathetic viewing , as energy passes from the canvas to the viewer. My thoughts for the day: The last time I was really sick was about a year ago in February when I had the flu and we had no heat, no hot water, and partial electricity. Go back and read my blogs from then. It was not a pretty thing. Terry would trot
Daily Painting ~Roses for Her~ Flower Oil Painting of Roses by Laurie Pace 16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas Contact Florence at the SR Gallery in Hong Kong to purchase. mention the title of the painting. For a commission painting of flowers, Contact: Laurie " Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me ." John 21:22 A Painting a Day: This composition was painted for my summer show in July in Hong Kong at the SR Gallery. Feeling alive and fresh and energizing was important to the final painting. Using contrasting colors for conflict and energy creates a feeling of need to climb into piece and reach out to touch the flowers. Using a wide brush with double loads of paint allows me to obtain a layered blend of colors. My Thought for the Day: So as far as you have come in this journey called "Life", have you been truly alive? We all seem to plan every day and sometimes a week or more before for things to
Daily Painting ~ In Search of the Bow ~ Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD off the blog! Thank you! Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Pace 2009 “" The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength. ” 1 Samuel 2:4 A Painting A Day: Contemporary thrown in with a twist of abstract . Named In Search of the Bow... as the horses are running as if to find the source of the rainbow. The earth is very green after the rain. Thick areas of paint are layered and pulled across the surface. Painted with Holbein Duo Oils, this piece is pre-varnished with several coats of protection before it is shipped to you. My thoughts for the day: Have you ever run in a race before? If you were in grade school, every one lined up on a drawn mark on the ground and some one "adult-like" said "READY? Set. GO." and you ran with all your heart to the finish line. In high school and college, runners take the
A Painting a Day ~ Niki ~ Acrylic POP Art Painting by Laurie Pace 30 x 30 inches Acrylic on Canvas SOLD Contact me for commission work: Laurie © Laurie Pace 2009 " From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another. " John 1:16 A Painting A Day: Pop Art a favorite for many of the younger generation and me too! I love the simplicity of blocked color and form and the intensity of the subject matter defined so clearly. Pop Art is a movement that began in the mid fifties in the UK and by the late fifties, it was here in the states. Pop Art takes an object and isolates it from a complex composition into a simple composition. It shares many of the same qualities as Minimalism; both are stand alone attitudes in their creation. This was painted for a dear friend in the D.C. area and it hangs lovingly in her home... she has the attitude that you see in the painting. Of course that is totally up to your personal interpretation. *** Exciting news a
A Painting A Day ~ Chasing the Light ~ Horse Equine Painting by Laurie Justus Pace Chasing the Light 18 x 24 inches Acrylic on Canvas A Painting A Day: From the movement of paint and the turning of light, I often have to step back from my thought of creation to allow an inner freedom to work across the canvas. Working with both Golden Acrylics and Liqutex Acrylics , I revel in the intensity of color as these hues spirit across the canvas. Ridges of paint begin to carve out what is there that the eye has not seen yet. Confirmation from a few strokes brings it to the front. Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Pace 2009 " On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you ." John 14:20 Saturday was a day to visit my dad. It is something you eagerly look forward to, you can't wait to see him, and you enjoy every moment you are with him...but when you leave you are exhausted. You often long for what was in the past, still struggling to acce

Inquiries email me at: Laurie A Painting A Day : Sometimes it is something as simple as a color that me me turn in hunger to pick up a palette knife. It might have been the gallon of white acrylic paint as I popped it open, or the evening light as it streamed through one west door in my studio casting gold across the room...what ever it was, it was God and it was good. This composition has several layers of Golden Acrylics scraped and moved with a palette knife. The final touches of accent colors and "spicing" in reds, turquoise and violet are unexpected treats. Painted on deep 2 inch canvas, this hangs with or with out a frame. © Laurie Justus Pace 2009 " But I will sing of your might; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you h
A Painting a Day ~ Colorful Kisses of Spring ~ Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Pace No. 189 Colorful Kisses of Spring 30 x 40 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting A Day: Only occasionally do I find myself pulled into working on a painting as I did this one. Working on a large canvas surface of 30 x 40 inches, I knew the goal was color, life, brilliance, softness and intensity. This sets up a definite conflict of interest but a positive gathering of elements in the composition. Memories of my Grandmother's flower garden in the center of her horseshoe drive at her farm outside St Louis, led me to want to create something as fresh and soft as those moments when I would walk through the small paths often in flowers as tall as I was. I cannot count the layering that went into this painting and the depth of color and paint are astonishing. It is available for a good offer. Currently as it cures out, it hangs in my home gracing the walls with the kiss of spring.
A Painting a Day ~ A Dozen Red Roses ~ Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Pace No. 187 A Dozen Red Roses 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting A Day: This painting uniquely addresses bold contrast colors and spaces. The heart responds to the beauty of traditional love with red roses as the central theme. Boldly stated contrasts of red and green, blue and orange, and violet and yellow create an interwoven pattern that satisfies the visual palette. The thick paint is pulled in layers with a palette knife and the final painting supports several coats of pre-varnish. Inquiries email me at: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace 2009 " If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you ." James 1:5 In past blogs I have written about GPS...God's Protective Service. I read somewhere it was also "God's Powerful Spirit".

" And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. " Philippians 4:7 When I crawl in bed at night, a welcoming sigh or a release of breath usually comes. The day is over, the night is here and rest is soon to be. It is a welcoming time of prayer and meditation and the joy of reading my bible and the book at my bedside. The world ceases for this time as I draw into the centering moments before sleep connecting to the peace and quiet of the night. It is here I welcome the arms of my Father to hold me as I fall asleep with His comfort. The mornings bring anticipation of a new day and new beginnings and the celebration of His world waking around me. This is a time to stop and collect your racing thoughts of what needs to be done this day... a
Hydrangeas from the Finger Lakes Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me if you are interested in this painting: Laurie " I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. " Philippians 4:13 Terry and I yesterday morning, starting our day. We left and walked for an hour. Then we drove out to Maggiano's where Morgan works and had anniversary lunch. YUMMM. Dessert came out with candles. Enjoy the journey and enjoy the destination. Makes you reflective on anniversaries. I have known this man since I was 11. We definitely have experienced much of life together. Our journey continues as does our love and respect for each other. We had so many best wishes from our close friends and families, Thank you! I especially love the antique Hummel Figurine we received... oh it tugs at our hearts. Often in life we make some decision that we want something. We do everything with in our power to get it. We work relentlessly to make the
