RED BIRD MORNING ~ Bird Art by Laurie Justus Pace 4 x 6 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home SOLD Monday is here but dawn has not arrived. I awoke with a painting in my mind so I am rushing through my blog to paint paint paint. BUT today is truly packing and shipping and going into Dallas to house hunt again! I am hoping we can secure the contract down on the house we have put a bid on, but we will see. It is in the hands of the Lord! This sweet female redbird is delightful in color. It reflects the turning leaves outside. I snapped the photo I used from my own backyard. (Trees at the new house is a must...I love seeing the Lord's birds in my backyard!) A friend wrote me after reading my blog asking if I was Jewish because I used the term, SHALOM. I am not Jewish. I am Christian, a practicing Methodist/Episcopalian/Disciples of Christ, United Church of Christ background! On the internet on Wikkipedia it says: Shalom ( שָׁלוֹם ) is a Hebrew word m
Passion RED ~ Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home CONTACT ME FOR PRICING AND COMMISSION WORK. It is already light this morning. I almost slept through and am still struggling to keep my eyes open. I actually did a commission piece like this one this week and painted one to sell I liked the first one so much. Smooth buttery oils in brilliant red. Very stimulating. Spent the day yesterday house hunting. Found only one but it is in a Neighborhood of the Cookie Cutters...but it does have a huge area to paint in and a four car garage. It is also new, but not in the area we would have chosen first. We received back the house inspection on the house we really like in the Dallas area and it has some pretty complicated issues which makes it truly hard to decide whether to take it on or not. I am praying Lord, I can't read these Detour signs, I need them in English. When we got in last night it was late. Probably cl
JACKSON HOLE TWO ~ Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 inches Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Saturday dawns but this body has been up for four hours. I was working on the book I started three years ago. Actually there are three books done and I am doing my reviewing and rewriting. Once we are moved I will be blogging parts of it to you but will let you know where and when at a later date. This painting is an acrylic painting with the combo of using TAR with the paint to create a thick substance. This is used in the mane and the tail and surrounding the horse with color. Today I am shooting my kids. Yeah, that is what I said, SHOOTING THEM! With my camera. They are heading down to Nacogdoches to celebrate their grandfather's 90th birthday and I am doing some pictures of them together and will make prints on the big printer. Hopefully Stacey will get it framed! MAYBE I will post it tomorrow for you to see my grown angels. THEN I am h

They bring a calm balance to your mind when you stare at them.... you might use it for meditating! Somehow the temps have crept back up outside, but the day seems to hold a note of change. I can't seem to identify it, just a feeling deep with in of excitement. Too bad we can't greet everyday with such wonder and positive thoughts. Maybe it was the hot shower that woke my cells with in this morning. Maybe it was the steam that cleared my head from sleep....what ever it was I feel uplifted and rested and anticipating good from the day. Believe me, not every day starts this way, but it should. Meditating this morning brought a calmness and a chee
HAUNTED REDS ONE ~ Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home SOLD SOLD SOLD on Daily Painters! Thank you! Contact me for pricing or commission work. G raphics O ne D esign I promised the second half today and here it is! Continuation of blues and deep rich reds contrasted with the solid yellow golds. Isn't that what our life is like? Think about all the energy in your life. Some is positive and some is negative. Our own frame of mind dictates how we view what is happening around us and to us. Have you ever taken care of someone that was sick and very grumbly? No matter what you did to help them or make them comfortable they spewed out biting words or complaints non stop. Man is not with out emotion. God made us in His image, so God is not with out emotion either. I am sure his heart cries when we run off on tangents that are self destructive. He wants the best for us and that is what he provides.
Haunted Reds Two ~ Equine Horse Abstract Art by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas Contemporary Art for your Home. SOLD SOLD SOLD on Daily Painters! Thank you! There are two paintings in this series and they would look wonderful bought and hung together. The bottom pictures shows them hung together. The colors literally run from one to the other engaging and blending. This is one of my favorite approaches to painting! Tomorrow I will post the second half of this series. Haunted Reds Two. We were at Fed Ex yesterday visiting with Pam as I shipped things out. We were talking about balance in our lives. God provides so much for us all the time. BUT, do you hear yourself when you are tired....if something is not wrong with things in the house, it is your spouse that is not fixing them; or your neighbor has left things out you don't want to see; or something is off with one of your children, and if it is not your children it is your parents; Or something is happening
FLOW ~ Abstract Equine Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas Contemporary Art for your Home It is the day after...but birthday week carries on. We were in Dallas for lunch yesterday to celebrate my birthday and my dad's birthday. It was a warm gathering of family and so much fun bantering with my brothers. We had the typical share your dessert and Brother Bill had the best! Taramisu. I know it is not spelled correctly. It was a long day after as we began house hunting. We arrived back in Justin late last night to be greeted with a warm dinner from my neighbor with homemade break and homemade apple pie. In the midst of this I ate Candy from my friend in Sacramento (So much for the diet, so SUE DO NOT SEND CHOC CANDY... and I do not drink coffee! I will call later.) I topped it off with a glass of wine and slept well last night! Today I will be working on a second long horn commission that is 4 ft by 6 ft in size and a red floral
CHARGING ~ ABSTRACT HORSE OIL PAINTING by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 36 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home SOLD Birthday Week continues! Morgan was over yesterday when I finished this energy filled painting! Contrast and color fill my life and my paintings and the glory goes to God! With it being birthday week I often reflect over the past years of life that have been chapters of journeys all bound together. Moments of joy and pain rolled together with laughter and tears. The experiences of the lives we live are woven into the lives of those around us. Sometimes relationships are easy and other times they take tremendous work. You must be ready to forgive in your own life or you will never experience peace and be able to enjoy the future events in your life. The weight of confusion and concern that often overtakes with us with anger, can be left behind when you forgive and move on in God's light and love. Move on this week. Get back into His light.
RACE FOR HOME ~ Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Sunday dawns with new times and hours. The skies still are inky black outside and it feels like seven a.m. but it is truly six a.m. I am struggling to finish all of my blogging because I want to paint the sunrise this morning! This painting was completed with a wide brush and lots of contemporary color as I tried to capture the horses neck to neck racing for the stable. Yesterday Stacey and I hit shopping at six and then off to Dallas to house hunt and have a girl day of hair cuts and facials. Terry drove in and we retraced our steps through several houses and had dinner at Sweet Temptations. (Yes Tom, we ate again...he mentioned to me via phone I was eating all the time according to my blog!) We returned home through the massive mess at the Texas Motor Speedway to our waiting pups. They were happy to see us after a long day away. Do you ever feel pres
THE TEXAS THREE Texas Longhorns Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 36 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home SOLD on Daily Painters. THANK YOU!! Saturday has not dawned. It is about five fifteen, but I am up to evacuate the area. Today is race day, well today and tomorrow and the Texas Motor Speed Way is a definite problem when you live out here. Stacey and I are bound for an early morning sale and then into Dallas to hunt for a place for Terry and I to move. I have to make a list this time before house shopping. I didn't do that when we bought this house! Pray for our family as we find a new home. Shalom, Laurie "You have heard of this hope before in the word of the truth, the gospel that has come to you. Just as it is bearing fruit and growing in the whole world, so it has been bearing fruit among yourselves from the day you heard it and truly comprehended the grace of God.”—Colossians 1:5-6
TURN ABOUT IS FAIR PLAY ~ Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Friday dawns with a possible sale on our home. This is good, EXCEPT there has been no postcard from heaven on direction on where we are to go. NOT even those darn detour signs. Morgan is do over early this morning and we meet the buyers to sign the paper work. Once that is done I will be house hunting...but I do not know where. Kathy, send all available info to search your area! This painting was a huge HUGE joy to paint. It came out of nowhere and it has such an attitude. I hope you enjoy seeing it this morning. The colors are my favorites and the composition and balance just rolled in as the painting appeared on the surface. Wish they were all this fun! You know despite the unknown at this moment, there is a peace lingering in my heart and a tiny bit of anticipation of what the Lord has ahead. Terry and I need to stay out of the way and let
PRETTY BOY ~ Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 x 2 inches Oil on Deep Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Thursday is teaching day and I have much prep work to do for class, but I am hoping to paint some early this morning. Esp if I do not blog too long! This is one I finished yesterday. Very delicate small brush but still maintaining a fresh look to the realism. Daily Word was interesting today. What is your perception of what you can do? Today is a new day. Whatever happened yesterday is gone. WAY gone. Perception is said to be the inner knowledge of truth. Give where you can today, contribute the gifts the Lord has provided and know each day reveals deeper wisdom to your journey. Shalom, Laurie “And the man looked up and said, ‘I can see people, but they look like trees, walking.’ Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he looked intently and his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.”—Mark 8:24-25
