" So we are always of good courage; we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:6-7
Red Horse One A Painting a Day 24 X 36 inches of color explosion! Greetings from the studio. I have been out of town for a few days but returned to try and catch up yesterday! Packing and shipping out paintings I stayed busy until late and I began this painting then. I worked until late last night and then this morning I finished it up. Appealing to the primal beginnings of time and the raw beauty of the horse, my palette drew itself to a red horse standing proudly in the center of the canvas. "I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secrue. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord." Psalms 40:1-3

Yesterday I had sparse time in the studio! I spent most of the morning with my neighbor's son outside as he mowed the acreage and I cleaned off all my husbands tools on the back porch. NOW I can get out there and paint again! The light on the porch is my best in this house so hopefully in the next few weeks we will get my second easel put together and you will see paintings off easel two. This composition is 18 X 27 inches in size and painted with Holbein Duo Oils. Lusty colors contrast delightfully inviting the eye to travel through the space. I am off today most of the day celebrating my Grandson's nineth birthday with parties and family, but hope right now at this early hour to finish up another piece for tomorrow. Grace as always, Laurie "My son, if you receive my words and tre
A Painting a Day White Flowers Click here to contact me to purchase this one! Not up for auction for another week. Buy it before the auction. The resolve with this composition was to retain the delicate petals of the flowers and the soft colors filling in the background. While doing that, I did not want to lose the weight of the green leaves and shrubbery around and behind the flowers. No predrawing on the canvas, but I had some predrawn sketches in my sketch book. From my simple line drawings I identifed where the edges and color had to meet and went to work with my Holbein Duo Oils and my palette knife! THICK paint and lots of color! This painting is 24 X 24 inches in size and the sides are painted. " But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of stress. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, inhuman, inplacable, slanderers, profligates, fierce haters of good, treache

"Thus says the Lord: "Keep your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord, and they shall come back form the Land of the enermy. There is hope for your future says the Lord, and your children shall come back to their own country." Jeremiah 31:15-17.
Zinnias! I love them. I remember playing in my Grandmother's Zinnias as a little girl. They seemed as tall as I was. So many colors shimmering in the summer sun at her farm house in St Louis. I also remember waking up in bed with the window open and white curtains fluttering...outside a chorus of birds ringing out their joys of morning. That is life and we all need to appreciate those golden moments in every day today. This painting is oil on canvas. I used Holbein Duo Oils in my work. A wide brush provided the movement. I could hear my birds in the background as I painted and the memories of those summer days came alive. When I am down, which is border line today. We have been with out water for 14 hours...I need a cold shower and some food right now...but I always try and keep in perspective my problems when I think of Job in the bible. ( We are trying to clean up and put the furniture back into place today as we finish up baseboards.) "And he said, 'Naked I came

"Every one who drinks of this water (from the well) will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst: the water that I shall give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." John 4:13-14.
SUMMER SHADE Tall Trees in my Texas Oak Series We were at my mom's yesterday and I have so many new photos both on my camera and in my head to work from for my tree series. Keep posted for some new slants on trees! Thought for today... "I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not wlak in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12
This gorgeous mare is entitled "Inspired One Time". Using a new technique, this requires a lot of paint with about four layers involved. This allow me to carefully mold out the face and the features I want to highlight. This is my third painting in this style and it truly is something I enjoy because as I paint I am solving the composition, studying it, carving it and creating it...thinking dimensionally as I work. The floors around here are near completion. Only a small section of hallway to go and two small hall closets. THEN the shoe molding and we can move the furniture back in place! Yeah for my terrific Husband. My thoughts to share for the day.... "You shall indeed hear but never understand, and you shall indeed see but never perceive. For this people's heart has grown dull, and their ears are heavy of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; least they should perceive with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn f
This is another small painting I finished with big heart! I love playing with the colors and intensity of the sky and clouds. Enjoy this one and dream of cooler days...I am! Laurie
Click here to bid. In this particular composition I wanted to bring out the texture in nature and the contrast of color in the wild. In opposition of the strokes of palette knife used to create brush, woods, and a path, I angled the horse in a run with the muscular chest and legs moving swiftly through the center of a clearing. Intense Energy explodes across the canvas. "My son, eat honey, for it is good and the dripping of the honeycomb are sweet to your taste. Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it , there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off." Proverbs 24:13-14
