We had pizza. We rarely eat such things...but we did. I ate one whole piece and truly loved it.  Pete's rocks.  Visit them on facebook.  At Pete's the band playing tonight was setting up and practicing for New Years Eve. We were there at four in the afternoon...so it was the band and Terry and I with salad and home made pizza. The ride home was even better...gorgeous colors reflecting more fall than winte

I was really scared after the food we inhaled over the holidays. I did not eat that much more, but I tasted more sweet things that I have had in the past year. I need to wean back off the sweets. Terry asked me to go out for specialty pizza and I jumped on the scale and jumped off and said, Not until I am back down the three pounds I had obviously gained. Soup and Salad. Keep it simple sweetie. Oh how I wish I could keep my life that simple right now. Tax time to close out accounts and gather receipts. The gathering word crops up again.  We seem to be good at gathering STUFF. We are good at gat

You read about it. You shudder not wanting to read about almost like you want to keep your distance from it in case it is 'catching'. When my father was diagnosed with it many years ago, we embraced it as it happened as a family, but did not realize the burden our mother carried as she tried to keep things 'normal'.  She has grown a great deal since those first years as it almost cost her own life caring for him. Over the past years we have read and implemented various things into the mix to deal with this disease as we watched it march through our f

She has graduated to the class that Mama does not have to get in the water with her anymore.  This is HUGE. I remember last summer sitting with her in her little wading pool doing tick-tock songs where she would quickly dip her face and sputter out the water. The thought of her really swimming with her face submerged makes me smile. As children learn to swim they start in the shallow water right by the edge of the pool or the steps that guarantee freedom from their building fears. With a solid foundation of lessons, they begin to build confidence to let go and slowly begin to feel safe anywhere in the pool.  With this new found confidence comes freedom and buoyancy as they take on de

Life experiences teach us at times to proceed with caution before doing certain things. With wisdom comes caution and thought and not just action. When it is time to paint... sometimes I think I am wise and I presketch what I want on the canvas surface. Other times I approach the canvas and let it all evolve with out much planning. I do believe I might struggle more with the preplanned painting because I have an established concept and often I cannot let it go.

As I did these words came to my mind and heart... Psalm 23  A Psalm of David.  The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still waters,   he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths    for his name’s sake. Even though I walk    through the Valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,    for you are with me; your rod and your staff,    they comfort me.   You prepare a table before me    in the presence of my e

I am late posting today and probably will miss posting tomorrow...but you never know. Much is happening and we are in and out of Dallas.   Today is another bruiser day of 105 degrees outside. I breaks records all the way back to 1930 they say.  Never been this hot this long and I think it puts our area way over 80 plus days of 100 plus temperatures.  A small cool front is due through for a bit more relief. I had jumped in with cooler weather and started walking up to four or five miles and I obviously injured my body doing it too quickly...so as the cooler weather does come, go easy as you begin walking again if you are in Texas. Terry spent the morning watering all the vegetation out back to make it through

We have our ideas of where we think we are going, but actually we will probably never get there. Hey, God knows what is around the bend and He is actually trying to prepare us for what is ahead. If you are like me though, you are going the opposite way or doing things you think are more important than focusing on Him and His way in your life. We generate most of the chaos in our lives ourselves. Are you ready to let go of it to lay your life in His capable hands? When we walked this morning Terry had the dogs with us. They have absolutely no clue what is happening in life further than the moment that take their current breath.  They are anticipating and eager to w

We all have times in our life that we are working on something, be it a recipe in the kitchen, cleaning the house, painting a painting, playing a piece on the piano...and we step back a moment and go "Wow, that is really good!" Chances are it was something that you prayed about and allowed His spirit to work with you. Can you remember what that feels like?  A job well done.   Something that might be worthy of mention by others.  The feeling blooming from inside you for a good job done is fulfilling. The praise from friends and strangers feels pretty good too. Although you did not seek the praise when you did it, you are satisfied with your hard work. You might even feel completed in a sense.  (I do not want to say proud because that is not

"say Please..."  Thank You Prayers go much much farther than Please Prayers. If we could reverse some of that in our teaching of the little ones... from early to say Thank You for this day when they are tiny and waking up.  Thank You for this food. Thank you for our activities today. Thank you for family and friends. Stacey sings a good morning Thank you to God every morning with Lady L. It is really touching to see Lady L lay her head quietly on Stacey's shoulder and close her eyes as her mama sings to her. Last trip Lady L was singing along. Picture from Ministry 7 click for link Is
