To awaken from sleep, to rest from awakening, to tame the animal, to let the soul go wild, to shelter in darkness and blaze with light, to cease to speak and be perfectly understood." Rebecca Solnit, Storming the Gates of Paradise: Landscapes for Politics Just a 'funny face' from the painting... love/hate f

Veronica Roth, Insurgent This painting was a work of the heart which covered three weeks of my life in paint and progress and now another three as it is curing to ship out. It is a 'mother' feeling when I invest so much blood, sweat and tears... and then have to say goodbye to a piece of my spirit spilled across the canvas.  My spirit uncaged. When I feel like maybe I should not paint anymore, I became aware that I would be not using the great gift God has given me.  In a wa

For me right now it is the wolf on the far right.  I thought it would be the one on the left...but I am still debating. What are your thoughts? Isaiah 33:15

Are you the wolf or the sheep? Wolf painting in progress with Texas Artist Laurie Pace

L. Lafevers, Grave Mercy I actually did a few videos at this point but having to deal with music in the background have to be careful what I post online. Copyright is not a laughing matter!  More rising personalities as the wolf on the left begins to solidly establish who he is. I am going to have to stop posting so many images now as this has stretched out over more than two weeks.  Will try and wrap it up, but I have a long way to go on the painting!. Acts 6:3 "Therefore, brothers, pick out from

This is how it was left last night.  I am really needing to work out the back legs on the wolf on the left and still feel like the center wolf is squeezed in a bit.  Also still debating on the sway and set of the back on the right wolf. Progress is slow but

William Ralph Inge  I am really excited at this point as I feel the personality of each of the wolves in the painting.  I am still glazing on layers of subdued colors creating the wolf in their environment.  You can still see a lot of the markings from the very first on the surface as the wolves build outward with their definitions and personalities.  Romans 12:9-13  "Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Lo

Jack London, White Fang Still watching the battle in the surface of the leader as I slowly form the wolves.  Seems like the largest wolf is on the left and I am not there yet... and you will see once he is in, he will be the one I begin with.  Jeremiah 23:1 "Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture!" declares the Lord."  #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart Laurie Pace A Texas Artist          My W

What a person shows to the world is only one tiny facet of the iceberg hidden from sight. And more often than not, it's lined with cracks and scars that go all the way to the foundation of their soul."  Sherrilyn Kenyon, Acheron You can see from the photos above the two steps I am sharing here... blocking out on the top one and then forming the wolves in place on the second o

It was too long ago. The Foundation of a Painting with Laurie Justus Pace

It is too long ago. I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun." Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice. Leaning into experimenting on this next painting. Starting with a glazing on the foundation first and then building layers on top of it. Terry says I killed this brush because (oops) I forgot to clean it. Brush shopping I shall go.  I have had this 'hankering' and image floating in my head of wolves... seems to be something I am drawn
