This was fun to paint. It will take a few paintings to settle back into painting flowers, but it will be welcome with all the color that comes with it! When Covid finally lets go of the grip on our lives... I want to take on a few students privately and push them past their comfort point in creativity.  That is where real work begins. Working with both brush and palette knife, the idea is to welcome the challenge and then do it! Stop by my website and 'contact me' if you might want to come paint! “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. Last summer I took a portion of a painting course from Nancy Medina, a long time friend. I was trying to break the barrier of Acrylic paints for future pieces.  There were six photos to paint with her but I only did this one.  I changed up my composition and colors and still kept the flowers because of the technique she was teaching.  This painting is stunning in person. This photo does not do it justice.  “ See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.” Isaiah 42:9 Laurie Pace  -  A Texas Artist   Shop for Large Paintings   |   Shop for Small Paintings   |   Shop for Prints and Gifts   | Commissioned Paintings        INSTAGRAM  : @Laurie

'Like a field of sunflowers'.” ― Fiona Valpy .”  Summer and Sun seem to be knitted together and the beauty of Sunflowers floods the streets and byways in the state of Texas. We have tall ones, short ones, skinny ones, fat ones.... lots of Sunflowers statewide.  As we get into August you begin to see the stress on these one happy stable flowers that have taken root and bloomed through the months...but August temps suck it all out of everything.  This upcoming election is doing a nice job of that as well. Media is sucking the life out of everything.  I do not want to hear or read about it or Covid 19.   Instead I am called to take my life far away from the worldly mess that keeps pulling us in emotionally. How many times a day are you on Facebook? How

He is working on building better ventilation next and painting is happening.  I am currently in the midst of a commission of three panels on birch.  Hubby aka Terry, is helping with the sanding today of the clear gesso on the panels. I am preparing to clean out the room of anything unneeded or not used.  There is a lot here!   My next dream is to hang Christmas lights. I LOVE them year round in my studio... always makes me smile. Who do you think of all the time?  I think of my Dad, who died in 2012. If I had a flower for every time I thought of him... it would be...  OH wait... I surround myself wit

He watches You-tube for news. ??  Anyone can say anything and put it up on you-tube. Actually any newscaster can create a factious story and put it on the 'regular' news.  I have been overfilled with politics already and we are not even in the last stretch of the election for Nov 2020.  The media has the world painted black as doomsday between the ongoing negative rhetoric of the sky is falling and our nation is failing. Only a few politicians and leaders speak with a kind
