I must go.  Sometimes the color is calling and I must paint.  Must have been a dual thought the morning I began this one. Always experimenting with the knife, thinking of palettes that would bring the best in subjects alive...and out of it came this red forest. I do not know why I did not name it "The Red Forest."  I am not at all convinced it is fall in this painting but more like a brilliant sun rising.   Reposting these old pieces makes me even more eager to return to my studio. Nothing stays the same. Spending time with God is the same way as time spent at the arboretum. Nothing has to stay the same. You are changing every moment and God is there with you.  There is no time or place you have to do it the same every day. There is not really a pr

For the past two weeks I have battled an allergic reaction to dust and dust mite residue in one of the rooms Terry was storing model boxes in. He had opened up and emptied the room into two other rooms upstairs, spreading the "joy".  You can compound that with the extra cold temps we had a few weeks ago where it hove

Painting Begins ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Follow me on Facebook           Sign up for my monthly studio newsletter. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So finally after moving the studio, painting begins again.  Lady L is thrilled to be back at her easel and quickly chose the pink flower she wanted to paint this time.  I have not told her yet she cannot paint all pink flowers.  God created them in all colors, not just pink.   We are both thankful you are stopping by to read about our day in the studio. They seem to be rare and one of my hopes is to share more time with Lady L here. She has a new baby sister due to arrive any time now. She is excited and so are we. More to be thankful for.

We did zebras, horses, swans, kittens and giraffes.  The idea with this lesson it not to pick up your pencil from the paper until you are done. I call those 'one liners' . Very similar for me to contour drawing as well where you touch and draw but do not look at the paper and you do not lift your pencil. Lady L is only five, soon to be six and she loves drawing and painting. She is very observant to details.  Her cat
