This week I have been finishing up a magnolia painting and restructuring my studio.  So it has been a glance into the past and the diversity of my work. This is eight years later and style has changed and I feel stronger in many areas but at the same time realize how much I miss painting 'other' things. This Father's Day I am missing my father but I feel his presence every single day.  When reflecting or faced with a situation or a decision, I am always thinking about what he would advise me to do or how he would handle a situation. So on this day I hope you are remembering your dad or celebrating with him.  This was my dad in 2011 with our granddaughter Lady L.  Terry is in the background. Cherished times.  Time to

SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This painting was one of two painted for a commission for a collector in Florida in 2006.  This one below was the second one completed in 2006 entitled: Palm by Night 15 x 30 inches Oil.  When Jim contacted me about palms trees and swamps, I swallowed hard and said, "Sure, I can do it." I have seen palms trees through out my life, but can easily tell you, never a swamp in person. He came up with six pictures and the composition settled on was a part of each of those pictures. I couldn't wait to paint as the colors began to settle on the canvas. The larger one was a six day painting with about five layers of paint. What is eerie good about it is as you settle into the painting looking at it, you feel the greenness of the shade and the glow of the area surrounding you. It is sur

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This week I am finishing up a commissioned magnolia painting. The couple found one of my old paintings and wanted me to duplicate it. Not easy of course!  But this is one I did probably prior to 2006.  Most of my mags were done 2004-2006.  They are such a peaceful flower. My mom and dad had a huge magnolia tree in their front yard. It was easy to take pictures of the blooms and then paint them. I love to infuse colors throughout the petals. This is the best way to spot my magnolia paintings. SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Getting unstuck is not the easiest thing to do.  All of us seem to be in a routine of comfort and even thinking about doing things differently brings anxiety which leads to many other things. The painting images taped to the canvas are my older pieces and are up there because I am painting something similar for a commission painting. Keeps the color flavor fresh for me. Terry helped me rearrange my studio again. I need to buy a new chair for in here. My laptop is set up with a small TV for that 'noise' I crave when I grow weary of music. I am really into the DYI station and learn so much by just listening and glancing up on occasion.   The idea is for me to connect to a computer while working for my camera shots. It became Horses like so many of my paintings become.  Horse obsession maybe? Named it Taylor Ponies after my Taylor 914E. It is raining outside.  Terry got up early this morning and was shoveling dirt off his organic dirt pile he had delivered last week.  Looks like a slow day of rain and something much needed in this area.  We could use a full week of rain if at all possible.  Most of the lakes are between 10 and 20 feet below normal.  Drought in Texas. Paddy is running in circles around me crying because he wants to help Terry with his dirt work...wrong. He wants to get outside the door so he can RUN away!  It's not that he really wants to run away... he just wants to run and be free. He seems to think he has too much responsibility around here and needs a break.
